What can I say. I live to be annoying!
...would you be willing to just look over a short Avatar fic for me? I need to know if my version of Sokka is accurate. (He's harder to get a grasp on than Chocolove was, surprisingly.)

XDD that made me laugh... this confused me how is there an 'influence' when shaman king IS a Japanese anime? [/quote] well.. i THINK they arn't necessarily talking about Shaman King right there.. its more general. Overall japanese anime (shounen) It influence children... (childrens watches anime so it influences them) and usually the japanese anime is a "cartoon" for children causing them to behave violently? I don't know.. now i'm confused (@_@) on trying to explain it.. XD

It's my impression that Japanese media is more excessive in places but that it's a much less violent society in terms of crime rates and such. That said, most Shonen Jump manga are toned down for Japanese tv. Mankin doesn't go into Yoh's method of passing classes, downplays Ryu's gang activity, doesn't show Manta's family at all (who, from what I can tell, are probably closer to the ones the original readers deal with irl), etc. None of the knife duels in YGO made it into Toei's undubbed season, and ditto for the origin of Monkey D. Luffy's scar.
But really, the watchdogs might want to have a look at what passes as "Educational/Informative" programming nowadays. It's the shows with an E/I at the top of the screen. These include Winx Club and Do-Re-Mi.

I never understood why shows are just handed the E/I rating.
It's like "Hey look! Those kids are going to school! Lol, give it the E/I rating!"

Hoo boy. Well, as Innle said, it just shows you that Mankin was never meant to be aired to children in the first place. I want to say that I was scared twice by violent images on television as a child and my parents reassured me there was nothing to fear both times. As for throwing a fit over Yoh appearing dead, the key word there is appearing. I don't understand why implied death makes censors go nuts. (Heck, I thought the Beast was crossing over at the very end of Beauty and the Beast when I first saw it!) Children are more aware of mortality than their parents think they are.
