Who else has noticed strange little jokes in the names of the Mankin cast? For instance, Yoh Asakura=Leaf Asakura. Whatever little jokes or puns or whatever you have found, please post them in.
My latest is Tao Ren's rather ironic name of "Way of Human Heartedness", in Chinese, as Dao Jen/Tao Jen/Dao Ren/Tao Ren.

And of course, Hao = Leaf King. ;D And isn't Asakura itself another word for leaf?
I swear this had a point.
Oh yeah, Tamao Tamamura has been translated as "blue jewel of the jewel village" by Dra-goon, but I think he was subsequently proven to be wrong....

ya, but then there's that obvious one with Lyserg Diethel and his fairy Morphin. the drug references and Hiroyuki Takei's eccentric sense of humor are all detailed in Lovely's comparisons (i believe 28).
what else...what else... right, and oyamada manta also means something like "field of little mountains." meh -_-

'Asakura' means leaf...*marvels at the Leaf King* ahem. I think the point was so Takei could put marijuana leaves as Yoh's "image" XD
well, there's Peyote, (must I explain his name?), he's one of Hao's lackeys. ok, I'll explain, Peyote is mexican marijuana I think...or some kind of mexican drug...
well, resurie has to go eat pancakes, so if I remember any more, I'll post 'em.

All the patch tribe officiates are named after metals or elements of metal.
Silva= silver Goldva= Gold Bar Kalim Chrom=Chrome Nichrome...
The group name of ZenRyo in the manga is BoZ("Bouzu") . Their group name is apparently a parody of a J-rock band called "B'z".
Lyserg and Morphine, named after drugs. Why? no particular reason ^o^ . (Or perhaps as a warning that if you take drugs, you too will angst XD.)
Unintentional pun in the dubbed anime. Kororo was renamed to "Corey" in the dub, which sounds (sorta) like "Kori" . In Japanese "Kori" means ice.
"Ryu" means "dragon" but I think he gave himself that name.
Chocolove's spirit is named "Mic", Mic the Jaguar. Mic Jagger XD . .
That's all I can think of right now.

For Ryu, I believe his full name is "Ryunosuke Umemiya". As for Chrom, his name is spelled that way in the Viz manga. All the patch tribe officiates are named after metals or elements of metal. Another few I remembered ^_^ .
Iron Maiden (sometimes "holy maiden") Jeanne is probably named after Joan of Arc. "Jeanne de Arc" .
Now, this is just a rumor I heard, but I've been told that Marco might of been named after "Chibi Maruko-chan" (a popular manga in Japan). The reason? To make a cheap joke at his expense ^^; . heh.

I don't know if he was actually named after that, but I do know that he spazzes out when Luchist calls him that.
Luchist's spirit is Lucifer, aka the fallen and most beautiful of angels who became ruler of hell. Luchist himself was originally on the side opposing Hao, but joined him. Whether or not that counts as a name thing I don't know, but I had to try to stay on topic for once....
