I have not gotten volume 30 yet due to the mystery of it'll ever be dubbed in my language, but um, where does it die? Or how does it die? x_O Not like the anime ending I hope? Well, could anyone be nice and give a summary? ^^; But why would Hiroyuki Takei give an 'abrupt ending' anyway? Unless he felt he was finished with the series or something... Hopefully no, or I shall call him and complain. X3 Yes, I am mildly crazy from exams... I need to know or I shall mangle something~ 'Something' most likely being the next thing I see... -Matamune

Takei had to give an abrupt ending as Shonen Jump had decided to cancel the series. It had been in the bottom of the ratings for too long.
No, it isn't like the anime ending. In fact, you could say that it's the exact opposite...
-Innle (I'll just say that Hao is in drag at one point in the last chapter, thanks to Anna and her extended metaphor....)

Matamune, **The ending goes something like this...Yoh and the others and fighting these priests to get to Hao, after defeating some priest, they decide to rest the night, and continue their task the next day, but~ POOF! the word "owari" appears at the bottom of the page, so basically, it ends there...no fight with Hao, no one knows what happens afterward...**
That's all I know, I got this information from the Shaman King House message boards, they seem to know a lot about the ending and 'Funbari no Uta'. If you want the summary more detailed then go to the thread "SOS! Shaman King needs our help!" (or something like that) I posted it there..somewhere...such a bad ending...

*falls over* Now that's just mean...*wants to whack Shonen Jump* >< That goes beyond 'abrupt'. So it isn't like the anime at the least. ^^ Thanks for the info.

The YuYu Hakusho had an abrupt ending too... Yoshihiro Togashi ended it himself when he became tired of the series

I am once again depressed to having to see this news again... I really want to know what do they mean by "bottom of the ratings" I guess things are different in Japan.

He was forced to end the series because it wasn't doing well in Shonen Jump. They wanted a new series to begin, so they forced Takei to end the series.

I believe that someone said that it wouldn't be a very good idea for Takei to try to finish the series on his own. Probably wouldn't profit from it too much.
And you're probably right that SJ wouldn't let him anyways. They probably have rights to it as well.

Actually, Takei can finish it independently, but it would cost him (profit-wise). SJ made him finish it because it was too long AND because it had lost it's popularity.
Plus, SJ wanted to start a new series...
Or it could be Takei planned this from the very beginning and this all a scam...
Ignore that. XD
