Yep, it's me again, with questions. This time, I've already got a hunch.
How is Giant Oversoul done?
By watching the opening of Northern Lights, it looks like you combine your Oversoul object, with the tombstone of your spirit.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Since you already marked the thread with spoilers, I'm not doing the spoiler text, plus I'm too lazy. XD
Actually no, they're able to perform that big oversoul because they read...erm...saw...the Chou Senji Ryakketsu (or as Lovely likes to call it, THE BOOK)
And their furyoku level went up blah blah. Basically, they're just..um...more powerful. o_0
Now, if you're talking about Yoh's big sword in the opening. He does that by making Amidamaru posses (spelling? o_0) two objects. First the Harusame, then...um...that red sword he has. (I forgot it's name...) Anna said it was called (and I'm translating this from the spanish version) "Second level possesion". She actually says "Posesion a segundo grado" which means "Second grade possesion" but "grado" in spanish can also mean a higher level...or something...o_0
Anna also said Amidamaru was able to do this because because he 'evolved' into a spirit. He was a ghost before, saying that he was now "The spirit of the sword". Or something along the lines of that.

(or as Lovely likes to call it, THE BOOK) Boo ya XD ! Anyhoo, Specifically, before he was a "human ghost", which various characters kept on saying was too weak to fight with. And he evolved (heh) into a "sword spirit". So in other words, it's like he's not even human anymore. but the will of the sword itself. That's how I understood it anways ^_^ . (Basically, I just said the same thing Resu said ^^;. )

Basically, they're just..um...more powerful. o_0 wait...wait...Yoh and Co. and Hao are the only ones who read the book, supposedly, but they clearly aren't the only ones who can do giant oversoul. Best example I can give is the match of Funbari Hot Springs and Ocean Team in Episode 52, when Mikihisa challenges the team to win without their giant oversouls. We see that Funbari Hot Springs' regular oversouls are no match for the giant oversouls of Ocean Team. I thought that the giant oversoul was just another "level" of shamanic power. You know, you have to have this much shaman experience/furyoku in order to perform this integration. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is my interpretation of Yoh's shaman levels in the anime of SK: 1. Hyoi Gattai (integration with the shaman's body) 2. First Oversoul level (during Silva's trial) 3. Second Oversoul level (after Yoh's cave journey) 4. Giant Amidamaru Oversoul (for a short time after reading THE BOOK) 5. Long Sword Oversoul (fusing Amidamaru to Harusame to the "God Sword"?? I think?) 6. Shorter Long Sword Oversoul (when Yoh shrinks his long sword to concentrate the power, when he fights Ren) 7. Final Amidamaru Giant Oversoul (Combination of furyoku (i think) of all nearby shaman, the one used to finish off Hao) and i think, between levels, the oversoul is supposed to gradually increase it's strength. each level is like a threshold of furyoku. ok, but that was my interpretation, for all i kno, it could be completely off!!!

;; Ooh~ *is very confused now* I had my own interpretations from the manga, but now... I am rather confused. I shall lurk to hear what others say. *resists urge to post all the oversouls* This is becoming a habit...

I think that your 4-6 are pretty much interchangable, as he uses them all for the latter parts of the series.
Also, I will point out that not ALL of the giant oversouls come from the book... In fact, it is my theory that none of Yoh's groups giant oversouls come directly from the book. Yes, I believe that the book was the catalyst, but I think that the ability was there in themselves all along, and the book just brought it out. ((Watch episode 58 or 59 to understand what I'm talking about))
