hi there i love shaman king but i live in the uk, does anyone know why they have put it on so late now. anyway this is a question i was wondering, i saw an episode of shaman king where manta was took over by mosuke because of spirit sealers trying to seal away amidamaru, and on it mosuke turned into his guardian ghost, i wqas wondering does that now mean that manta is a shaman EDIT: Just made the topic more clear. I had an urge to do that with the whole post but...

We used to have a thread about this but I can't find it 0_o... It answered the question pretty well I recall. Ah well.
Manta after that point is.... sort of a Shaman. His Furyoku is incredibly low and he can only call on Mosuke in great times of trouble.
It should be noted that this is only in the anime. In the manga, Manta never becomes a Shaman.
People complain that Manta becoming a bit of a Shaman in the anime kind of destroys some of the point of his character but... they forget one thing.... it's actually pretty cool regardless ^^;. *laughs*

No, not that one. I thought there was another that asked the specific Manta/Shaman question.
Hmmm... maybe it was another board?

Yep! That was the spoiler-filled thread I was thinking of!
...but now that I read it... It wasn't really answering the question that THIS thread was asking anyways ^^; .
Thanks for the find Jr ^_^ !

I was reading a rant someone wrote, and the reason they were upset about this change in the anime was as follows (my words, though):
It was a major plot point, early in the show, that Yoh had NO NON-SHAMAN FRIENDS. Manta wasn't a shaman, yet they were still friends. One of Hao's main points was that shamans and non-shamans couldn't get along. Yoh and Manta broke this rule. By making Manta become a shaman, however unwittingly, took away Yoh's ONLY NON-SMAN FRIEND. Now, he has nothing to counter Hao's point with.

Lol. That's true, and I really didn't notice it the first time I watched through the show, also.
By the way Dessa, "SMAN" = bad spelling.
*get's shot by Dessa*
Owwww...I need to stop doing that. ;D

Oh, I know WHY they are upset, and they have a VERY valid point. However, I think the ending episodes are very much for "the cool factor" , and really not intended for one to think too hard about XD. Heck, I'm conviced the director was practicing for Fullmetal Alchemist in the end episodes *laughs*. It should be noted that the last episodes of Fullmetal ALSO has "the cool factor" thing going on and some things there didn't QUITE make logical sense either. Man, I love Seiji Mizushima *laughs* .

Perhaps we can look at it another way?
Shamans and people arn't really that different, most people are just never have cause to unlock thier potential furyoku. A Shaman is just someone whos more of a natural at cointrolling furyoku while someone else has a natural talent for languages or mathematics etc.
Maybe thats streatching it a bit as that clearly wasn't part of the manga but it does bring everyone closer together, Shamans arn't realy apart from people they just have a more well developed skill, something that is unfortunatly misuderstood by most.
