I'd recommend either Walden Books or Barnes & Noble. That is, if you live in America. Most major bookstore chains have a manga section, but I prefer those above stores. If you're looking for raw imports, you should maybe try Kinokuniya, but it's only located in select major cities, mostly in California. There are probably a few other Japanese bookstore chains in America, but it comes to mind first.
Otherwise, there's always the less-legal way of downloading what you want. But as you said, if you're not going to download it, purchasing is your only other option.

You can view the English translated Manga on the SJ website. (don't have the link, sorry) The pages take forever to load if you have dialup, however.

Actually, I have a few foreign sites that let you view the manga online (not scanlations, though, just the raws). You can drop me a PM or something if you're interested.

There are name differences between the U.S. anime and manga: * Manga - Anime * Manta Oyamada - Mortimer "Morty" * Tao Ren - Len * Lee Bailong - Lee Pai-Long * Tamao Tamamura - Tammy * Ryunosuke Umemiya a.k.a. "Wooden Sword" Ryu - Rio * Horohoro - Horohoro "Trey Racer" * Togakero - Togakeroh * Hao Asakura - Zeke Asakura * Tao Yúan - En
Also some technique names are different...

If you don't have a B&M store near by, you could order it from pretty much ANY online bookstore...

If you really want to see Shaman King, then I suggest subscribing to Shonen Jump.
But if you don't have the money, just stop by a book store and read it right there.
