What do you think of ShamanxSpirit pairings?

Yeah...werid question but I was looking at some Japanese art sites and saw an AmidamaruxYoh one and BasonxRen one which both were really cute.

So!My question dear board members is that what do you think of ShamanxSpirit pairings?

It depends on the pairing. I like Faust/Eliza and Pyron/Jun, but can't stand it when people write them or any other ShamanxSpirit couples doing anything more intimate than kissing.

As I was saying, it depends on the pairing. AmidOh and BasEn are just plain gross because of the age difference. If Yoh and/or Ren were eighteen or older...maybe those couples would be cute-and that's a BIG MAYBE.

Actually...HoroKoro would be cute if she was human.

I think some sort of physical flesh body is key. And age of consent as well, although cultural norms do vary across countries and periods in history. I mean, say Tokagero died at age 15, would Ryu be a pedophile for being with someone who never reached what's the consensual age in modern Japan? (not that I support them. nuh uh) Not to mention having existed way beyond that age, just not as a physical human(?). I think it's better, though, to be with something that's lived some human experience like a human ghost or FMA's Al than a digital monster on your computer or a Mamado or something of that sort. But I don't tend to think of pairings beyond kissing either.

Uh...honestly...I think they're gross. Well maybe not 'gross' but...odd. xD; And I never thought of FaustEliza or PyronJun that way. ; Probably because Eliza was..his wife and stuff..and Pyron is like...a zombie. XD;

I agree with HoroKoro(that's fun to say. X3) being cute if she were human. :3 But..other than that, I don't care for them. I mean...they're spirits. ;

I could maybe see Bason having some sort of feelings for Ren, but them not being returned....But Bason is just like...Bason. I don't know. xD;

Well, I......uhm. 600 year old ghost + teenage boy = does not compute in my mind. Now, I see them as fine pairings, really. But I honestly think that for someone to be intimate with another person (especially spirit), a physical body is key? Am I making any sense here?

(I'm even a tad bit iffy with Faust/Eliza. I mean, it practically is necrophilia, even though they are husband and wife. And not even in the sexual sense. Pylong and Jun seems cute, but it's all the same.)

So lets start there OK I admit I dont quite understand the whole oversoul thing and the fine definitions of the Shamna king laws yet

What would you consider alive? This is the queastion you need to adress when you start thinking about this couple.

Body+soul= Life?

If so then Eliza might just be alive...well if they ever figure it out...Faust makes her body all fleshy and Anna gets Eliza's soul back

(and then the soul posses the body...but that does make me wonder if in the SK world if spirits CAN posess there own bodys but all the human spirits are all old and there bodys deteriated but Eliza's body is tecnically still around so....could someone tell me if it IS possible in the SK world for spirits to posses there vancated bodies? ...or has it never come up because the other human spirits arent a factor and the other spirits airnt human spirits?)

anyway its like a almost life ,so for me she is alive and its not necrophillia (to me) no matter what anyone writes them as doing...

And the others (with non human spirits) are a diffrent matter because it also brings up the queastion of what can you love and what can love you back Most of these I thik are rather cute but only in theory realistically within the confinds of the SK universe I think they'd be one sided at best...

Couple involving human spirits however are less complicated because they are considered human but indeed if you want anything pyscial your best bet is to have them posses someone else and....ur...well enough said...

there can be emotions so it is possible for 'love' just not a pyscial one

I think they're okay but not in the romancy way with kissing like previously said. Even if they loved each other, there wouldn't be any way they could get together. The only way they would be is spirituly. I prefer a friendship kind of bond though.

And besides, Yoh belongs to Anna.

It's crazy enough.(faust and eliza is alright in my mind because I don't think faust would disrespect her remains or her spirit . His heart is pure. I'm gonna get alot of crap for this innocence crap, but its sweet, Its pure love.) But at least theyr'e not spray painting hair on their heads. Thats psychotic.

It wouldn't be physically impossible, Resurie, because shamans exist on the mortal and spiritual planes. (See tankouban number one for proof.)

(claps hands) Thank you! I've said the exact same thing about Pyron/Jun. I think Faust and Jun would have a pure love (that never really fizzled out) with their spirits.

In the manga, it's blatantly stated that spirits and shamans can physically touch. That's how the billboard ghost was able to scratch Yoh's face open, and why Yoh's torso and arms are rather dramatically scarred (although it's easy to forget about this as Takei doesn't bother drawing the scars in except for that one chapter, and IIRC a later title page....). In the anime, he's shown at one point hugging Amidamaru (in the episode with Fudoh, I think it was).

So no, you don't have to die to be with a spirit. I don't disapprove of spirit/shaman pairings in the least! Love is love, and it does blindside you sometimes. (I mean, if you'd told me I'd end up with a guy even a few months ago, I wouldn't have believed you. But I'm quite happy with Max, if still slightly wistful about Sarah....)
