How can a show about a board game that I only barely understand make me cry so much ;_; ?!
Heh, anyways, has anyone else here ever seen this show? I only started watching it around a week ago and I am already at episode 70 ^^; . Anyways, I highly recomend it. It really isn't like anything I've ever seen before, but it can get really emotional.
I really can't see this show ever getting liscenced though (the anime I mean, the manga recently HAS been liscenced). It takes a while to get into, and even then there is a lot you have to pay attention to.

Well, I haven't seen any of the show yet, but I have read the manga in Shonen Jump... which isn't very much to go by. -.- There's gonna be a fandub (which I must audition for! ^o^) coming up, so I'll try to keep up with that if nothing else.

I ve been reading the manga too and its getting more and more aweing every episod...It starts with only Hikaru and Sai but it soon expands to a bigger group, like Akira, Tetsuo, and all the go clubs it really was interesting. I read the previews before it actually launched in Shonen Jump and they said that it got much of japans audience into it. it actually broought the game back for the little kids.

I LOVE the manga. It makes me want to take up Go. Sort of. I can sort of see this getting dubbed(hopefully by a good company), even if it's only on an international channel or the Anime Channel. Maybe it'll happen when more Americans start to enjoy shows that aren't just speical effects & pointless violence & whatnot.

Hikaru no Go's already been licensed to be dubbed by Viz, actually. It's the very reason that Hikaru no Go fandub was canceled.

^_^ Hikaru no Go is a fascinating Anime. However, Americans might not be able to understand the game. I play baduk which is the same thing as Go in another name and there's a lot you'd have to understand. Which number of the manga do you have up to though? I'm only up to 8 sadly, ran out of money, but I already know how it ends. XD
Oh, and who here though Sai was a woman the first time you saw him?
*raises hand* Admit it now... XD Although I didn't think he was a girl by his clothes and hair (Even Hao dressed that way long ago) but by the way he had hearts everywhere whenever they mentoned Go. Hadn't seen the anime yet.

The U.S is only up to volume 1 of the manga. So far, I don't intend to buy the U.S version of the manga because it is edited (it's a principle thing.)
Even though Sai looks girly, I always realised he was a guy. I think it was the way he dressed (ladies didn't ussually wear those sort of clothes, right ?) Also, I've read lots of shoujo manga in my time and I'm used to effeminate looking guys ^_^; .

I thought that Sai was female at first. I think it was the lipstick. Characters from other manga/anime such as Hao, Sesshomaru, Haku(the Naruto one), etc. have long hair and such, but Sai was the first one I saw with actual lipstick.
The US manga is edited? Is it the standard shrinking-down of it for graphic novel form, or something else?

Oversoul took everything I was going to say. I know, he had lipstick so I thought it was a girl, besides the fact of clothes. XD
Oh, and my mangas aren't English. XD It's in my native language, per se.

The US manga is edited? Is it the standard shrinking-down of it for graphic novel form, or something else? It's unedited so far in "Shounen Jump" but in the graphic novel they changed one of the characters cigarete's into a piece of gum. They did this so that the book would get a "for all ages" rating. Personally, I think this is crap, and I won't support a release thats been edited as such. I mean, what else will they change in order to make it "safe" for the kiddies? I'm really finding myself disliking Viz lately.

I wonder how it was handled in Volume 2.
And, if I were Viz, I would have put the cigarette in and made it a Age 10+ or something manga. If parents complained, in the next volume, I would include the rabid parental letters with addresses blanked out - I.E. hold them in contempt. But that's never gonna happen in real life -_-
Another alternative is to include a "smoker warning" label saying that the actions that Tetsuo is taking is bad for one's health.
