New Digimon Anime

You might've heard this already and I heard this from Shutsumon-sama, so I'm stealing this info from her before she can post it here, but anyway, there's a new Digimon anime in the works: www.digibros.net/digimon2005.htm
I'm not really sure what I should think of all of this. I'm happy that there's new Digimon anime being produced, but kind of scared that it's all in CGI (I'm not a huge fan of CGI animation). All I can do is hope for the best and that'll at least have a good story. What's your thoughts on all of this?

Yeah, I heard about that some time ago. CG animation might be a could change for the series, and pulled off right, it could be a big hit. Especially with Kakudo, Ito, and Kawasaki working on it. It could be a good retaliation after ending Frontier on a bad note.

Eh... I dunno, personally, I've never been a fan of COMPLETE CG. I just prefer the "look" of hand drawn things. We'll see, we'll see.

I hope it goes beyond just the fighting and has some characterisation.

About the only things that we know so far are

1. It's a full length movie called Digital Monster X-evolution
2. It seems to be based on the Chronicle storyline that people were thinking would be a manga but never appeared
3. There will be new toys, cards and games
4. It's full CG
5. X-evolution is pronounced zevolution

This isn't stopping people speculating of course. There's a lot of mutter on other forums about there being no kids... this is because there are no kids in the initial promo pics. I'm not sure about that. The mini-manga from the Pendulum thingy had a kid in it and that's set in the 'chronicle' universe. Not that that means anything but I do think people are jumping to conclusions

Good info Shutsumon!

I have to throw down with the non-CG camp. I prefer CG as a tool to supplement 2D animation...Naruto does alot of that with their backgrounds on rotations or pans and when they do it right you can't tell there's a 3D model sitting behind that drawing.

Then there's cell-shading. I'm really looking forward to Molly Star Racer. It's 100% cg cell-shaded goodness.

But then again, it's 3D imitating 2D.

3D is still in it's baby steps...it's not there yet.

There's this dialog sequence in the movie West World about how you can tell the real people from the android performers, and it's the hands...they could never get the hands right...

I feel the same way about CG...it just doesn't feel right...

The best from Square Enix still doesn't look human to me, and the stylizations of Pixar just aren't as dynamic as a 2D animation would be.

So tossing all that aside and keeping with the thread topic, what is the Chronicle storyline?

Out of the varied stories told with Digimon, there was something about the end of First Season(en) (Dark Masters on up) that I really liked, and I'm a huge fan of Digimon Frontier(jp). It has this very creepy surreal atmosphere about it that reminds me of Season One...everything's very familiar but very unknown at the same time.

Looks...intersting. One of the pics has Omnimon in it, which I find odd since there usually aren't the "main" digimon from one series in another(aside from Adventure/02, but those 2 seasons were actually closely related to each other). Hmm, I wonder if it'll ever be dubbed, and if so, how well(digimon is one of those anime with a bad dub track record :/ )

Yeah, I saw that trailer. I'm not sure what I think about it. It looks cool I guess, but I still find it strange to be all in CGI animation.
