This is kind of annoying in my eyes. So I'll just copy what the Aug/Sep 2004 issue of what Anime Insider says.
The mystery of the "Case Closed" DVDs is solved! FUNimation has decided to release episodes 1-4 on the first DVD volume, and episodes 53-55 on volume 2. According to FUNimation, it's to give fans a chance to see later episodes of the long-running series early.
I know Detective Conan isn't a series that needs to be seen in order to follow it. But come on! First they give you 4 episodes on the first DVD with 3 episodes on the rest, but they have to skip around too?

They are doing it to coincide with what has already been released on Cartoon Network. When CN hits re-runs, the DVD release will allow you to continue seeing new episodes, RIGHT where CN left off.
I understand their logic, it's just weird ^^; .
And this is sort of the wrong forum for this to be in, and I HAVE just learned how to move topics around sooo...

It doesn't help those of us that don't have cable... Yeah, I realized I posted it in the wrong area after I posted it, sorry about that. Edit: I just realized something though when I was in the shower. After reading about Lovely's post on the Shaman King number of episode releases per DVD...I really hope FUNimation comes up with a better plan if they plan on releasing more than two seasons of this series. Or else fans that want to collect the entire thing are going to be stuck with a large amount of DVD boxes. The entire series is 349 episodes, 3 episodes per disk, we would be talking 116 DVD boxes for all of it. I don't even want to think of the price on all that...

Yeah, and I'm about to sound incredibly un-PC. But releasing Conan with just 3 epi's per disk is retarded . Sidenote: And it was fun using the "move topic" feature. I've been looking for that stupid button for such a long time @_@...

One must wonder why most anime DVDs only have 3 or 4 eps to a DVD. I mean, so much more could be fit on there...I think. Plus if you're talking about a HUGE/LONG series like Pokemon, DBZ, Inuyasha, etc. that means that you have to get a LOT of DVDs to have a complete collection. The fact that most anime DVDs tend to be expensive doesn't help either. Anyway, jumping ahead 49 episodes from volume 1 to volume 2 is...weird.
