Yelling the monsters name is okay, but I actually like Yami "It just isn't your day!" referring to Haga because that means he knows he is going after him and not just any opponent. He wanted Haga to feel pain.

Upon reading Jump, the previews show that the non-Japanese characters (Marik, Ishizu, Pegasus) will use the 4Kids names while the Japanese characters (Yugi, Jonouchi, Anzu, Honda) will keep their Japanese names.
The only problem is that I HATE the names "Marik" and "Ishizu" with a passion...

To be fair, this is correct Japanese pronounciations of both names, (although Ishizu is kinda iffy). L and R are interchangeable as we know.
However, with Isis/Ishizu, S can be pronounced as SH, if not as S for "Su". The I's are pronounced as "EE", so it's fairly accurate too, to say Ishisu. The "Zu" I'm not sure about. However, I think it could be corrected better if she were called "Aishisu", pronounced as "Eye-Shis".

Name changes aren't the worst thing in the world. It actually makes some sense to use the English names for the Ishtars because the vast majority of YGO fanboys know them better as "Marik" and "ishizu". All and all, if a character in a Viz manga is Japanese or Chinese, his chances of having an original name shoot up. I still hate the dub names, though... And you are just angry that Viz actually did name changes (again, because they've been doing it for a long time) XD. You WILL get over it. The only reason I'm mad at Conan name changes is because the people are Japanese and Conan has such a Japanese atmosphere. You should be upset at TokyoPop MORE because they all out edited the Initial D manga to appeal to a younger fanbase. Wow, I thought I'd never say this, but I'd rather watch a 4Kids dub than read a viz manga. |

By reading a summary of Volume 2 on the net, yes, they are keeping the original names of Mai and Ryuzaki in the book.

Why are you complaining about Viz Yu-Gi-Oh? Viz-Gi-Oh is still going to be vastly superior to 4Kids-Gi-Oh anyday. I mean, the good thing is, I thought that since the new arc of Yu-Gi-Oh having to do with dueling is closer to the 4Kids version, I was afraid that Viz was going to start calling EVERYONE by their dub names, and I'm glad it's not the case.

Don't get me wrong, I like Viz' YGO release too - I'm glad that they are calling the majority of the characters by their original names. they probably just can't find another name to replace the japanese names! Ran out of name ideas? I mean people can run out of names very easily. You can't think up a new name for a character that actually fix so easyly. They don't come as often as the sunday newspapers! (uhh.. that was strange...) anyways, i'm glad that they kept most of the original names too, although i don't really watch this anime so often. |

it's pretty annoying that they are changing the names but Ryusaki and Haga are japanese so if they change their names they'll be hypocrites!

I thought that basically all the characters that appear in duelist kingdom/battle city would have their dub names. I did know haga and Ryusaki are Weevil and Rex.

Hmmm... *gets out large hammer and whacks Ashlie, Erika and that Yoh-girl-with-the-really-long-name-who-I-suspect-keeps-coming-on-as-a-new-user-to-spam-up-everything with it* NO SPAMMING!
Anyway, back on topic, Rex Raptor and Weevil Underwood are actually kinda fitting, since the original names were still bad kinda puns, with Dinosaur Ryuuzaki, and Insector Haga. It's just 4Kids have cornier names than that...
