Dinosaur and Insector (as well as Ghost) are all titles. The names are Haga, Ryuzaki, and Kotsuzuka, respectively.

i m not a big yugioh fan from the beginning, it never really interested me (though i watched all of dub episodes that aired so <go figure>)
Whenever i heard names like Weevil Underwood, i go like, "isnt Weevil a kinda" (well duh) Then the stupid thing was 4kids renamed Ryuzaki into Rex, my little bro, on the first time we watched him debut, went "Isnt Rex a name of a monster in the game, why'd his parents named him that?" That just brings me to another point, what kind of parents would give names like these (actually i met a few Rexes in my life) but Weevil, its like the parents hated him the first day he was born.....
Also just asking about Raphael in the latest arc of YGO, the way they made him act and his name really clued me into god why, because Raphael is and archangel, and guess what the Raphael in YGO you can sometimes see him with wings. I m just sayin doesnt 4kids have a no god rule?

Well, you act like 4kids know what they are doing. Plus Raphael's dub voice makes him sound like a drug addict, no kid would get the reference. Sometimes you just have to laugh...

Actually, that slightly offends me, since his dub voice was stereotyped upon Italian-American maffia, and I am partially Italian, deep in blood (I'm actually royal Italian, but besides the point...), and I've already been offended by Raphael's dub accent, but hearing it now being classed as a drug addict's voice is a bit overboard for me...
(BTW, I know the same voice was used for Scar Face/Eskara/Mars/Malice, however you want to call him, from Kin Ni/Kinnikuman Nisei/Ultimate Muscle, but this was okay, because he did first dress up like a Maffia man... Although, using the voice after he revealed his true form was a bit much...)

I wonder what Shizuka's last name in the English manga is. Is it Jonouchi or Kawai?

Ah, yes, I know what you mean... His voice is what made him second favourite to me out of the Three Musketeers (Amelda, Varon and Raphael's group name), first being Varon.

Amelda was changed just to make completely sure everybody knew he was male and Varon now sounds Australian and is harder to take seriously (Once again, no offence to any Australians but if you have heard his original voice you will know what I mean).

I agree with you on that. Just hope that Manjome Jun from Yuugiou Duel Monsters GX doesn't get the Aussie treatment... *snickers to self, knowing that this Jun has the same voice as Varon in the original*... Also, I don't want to offend any Australians by what I may say, but I am slightly biased since my ancestor was martyred to Australia (Tolpuddle Martyrs)... Which is kinda stupid, since most Australians are related to the people banished there... So, I don't like who I am... Weird...
Meanwhile, on Amelda, why make him sound completely the same as a past character? He sounds exactly the same as "Bandit" Keith Howard, the American guy who faced Jounouchi at Duellist Kingdom, and cheated with the Slot Machine card. I thought it actually him there at first, in his first dubbed line "Keep your pants on, Valon!". (I wasn't watching when I heard it)

Good news! All of the characters (Ryusaki, Haga etc) have kept their original names! The only change is Pegasus but they kept him as Maxamillion J Pegasus and in the beggining in the part that introduces the characters they say, 'In the original manga he was called Pegasus J Crawford'. Not bad eh?

They don't mention Shizuka's last name as far as i know. I don't have the manga yet and I found the other information on a reliable forum. There is only one shop I know of in the whole of England that sells Manga so it could take me a while to actually get ahold of it.

I haven't heard Bandit Keith's voice for the longest time (and I'm sure damn glad I haven't, because I loathe him)...in fact, I haven't watched Yu-Gi-Oh in a long time because of the stupid reruns, not to mention that "Destiny Deoxys" movie last weekend. Besides, I don't see why you're so miffed because 4Kids gives A LOT of characters voices that sound exactly the same as other characters...like there's hardly any difference between Noah and Ren besides Ren's horrid British accent...okay, bad example. 4kids doesn't really have a lot of voice actors (they're too cheap to hire more). So they end up using the same for a lot of their shows. Like Eric Stuart, he does Brock and James in Pokemon, Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh, and Marco in SK. He does a lot more, but they usually turn out to be minor roles.

Because the actors (Bless their souls, since they are actually rather good at times, except for a few cases), don't really try to distinguish certain characters. It'd be okay if they were like different VAs who sound alike, but have an actual noticeable difference that was worth praising. After all, the Japanese VAs of Zolo and Sanji in "One Piece" sound alike, with very deep voices for their charries, but you can tell which is which, after a while, because Zolo has a slightly higher voice, while Sanji is the deeper out of the two... Perhaps those ciggies finally got to him... |
