I wasn't really sure where to post this but... I might as well put it here. I've noticed there are a lot of you complaining about dubs and there are also favourite threads (favourite animes, songs etc.) So I decided to do this. Which dub companies are the worst do you think? Post your thoughts here  . I better go back to do the birthday card for my sis. I have a feeling a lot of you will hate one company in perticular . |

No, no, no, no, the worst three are 4Kids, ShoPro, and whatever pot-smoking company dubbed Digimon and Duel Master. Now, compared to the last one, 4Kids and ShoPro are tolerable, but honestly, that company of script from Nimoy and some other idiot is terrible. Never watch their dubs!

I don't know about Digimon, but Duel Masters was dubbed by "Plastic Cow" (resurie aint joking about that name, they really must smoke pot...)
For me it's 4kids and Nelvana. (tomoyo-chan shall be avenged!)

ShoPro does more than Hamtaro, MegaMan NT Warrior, and InuYasha - They also do a variety of series, e.g. Doraemon.
As for Pioneer, I don't quite understand why people hate their dubs.
I understand why people hate FUNimation's early DBZ dub but that was due to the constraints of Network TV. Things loosened up when it was moved to Cartoon Network. As for any "Oh, but why didn't they pay any attention to the anime market?" type remarks, there was no big anime market back in 1996. Still, I would like to see FUNi redub the whole segment for cable TV.
I completely understand why people dislike 4Kids.

Worst- nelBAKA
2nd worst- 4CRAP
3rd worst- BARFimation
Most others I can tolerate. I actually enjoy most of the stuff I've seen done by ZRO Limit and Animaze. **drools** Xenosaga...

Nelvana is still on the top of my list as the worst dubbing company ever for what they did to Cardcaptor Sakura. Cardcaptor Sakura is my favorite mahou shoujo anime, but Cardcaptors is on the top of my list of worst English adapations. Even though they did license an official subbed version which I'm very grateful for, what Nelvana did is still unforgivable. 4Kids is next on my list of worst dubbing companies. I think we can all agree that Yugioh's English adapation, well, sucks. At least they're starting to learn, and provide us with official subbed versions of their anime series, but they still need to work on producing more accurate dubs.
After 4Kids, DiC is number three on my list of top worst dubbing companies. They really screwed up with Sailor Moon, by changing names, music, parts of the plot, and character personality changes. Sailor Moon's English adapation isn't as bad as others, but it's still far from being perfect. I haven't seen DiC's edited adapation of Saint Seiya yet, but I haven't heard great things about it, either. At least DiC allows official English subbed versions of their anime, but still.....

Have you seen their latest dubs? I don't get why you think FUNimation as a whole is bad... they dub things like Samurai X and Fullmetal Alchemist now. And you know they cater to anime fans with those XD IMO Worst- nelBAKA 2nd worst- 4CRAP 3rd worst- BARFimation Most others I can tolerate. I knew most of you hated 4kids . Anyway, I'm not really sure which companies I hate. I remembered when I watched Cardcaptors, and I was really confused. One episode showed something and the next is about something else...  |

That's because Nelvana jumped around the series like crazy, ignoring ANY of the plot. As for Funimation dubbing rurouni kenshin, do you mean the one that aired on toonami? because there WAS a dub before that one, dubbed by Colombia....??  , I'm not sure, but their logo came up after every samurai x episode, keep in mind I' talking about 'Samurai X' (the first RK dub) not 'Rurouni Kenshin' on toonami. In my opinion, samurai x was a much better dub than RK on toonami, the voices were better in my opinion, kaoru sounds too nice in dub-RK....'Kori' sounds more demanding and 'the yelling type' yet she still can sound sensitive in SX, sure they changed kaoru and yahikos names (but to japanese names anyway--> kori and yoshi, their last names were kept) plus, they pronouned the japanese words right, still with a bit of an accent, bur right. Plus, they kept all the OPs and EDs in SX, complete with the japanese text (same with the episode titles). my rants done.  |

*sigh* So much misinformation, and I'm not even a Rurouni Kenshin fan!
First, Anime Works not Funimation, have the rights to the t.v series.
Second, it was dubbed by Bang Zoom! Entertainment
Third, this version DOES have the openings and endings, it's just that Toonami doesn't show them.
Fourth, it should be kept in mind that the version of the show that is shown on Toonami are edited quite a bit. The dvd release (which came about even before it was on Toonami) is unedited.
Back in the day, I remember liking most of the cast. I was especially fond of Kenshin 'cause he sounded cute (my reason for liking anything I guess ^^;.) The other day I caught a bit of the show on toonami, and I have to admit, the performances sounded a bit wooden here and there.
O.K ! My least favorite dubbing companies are
1. Nelvana. Like Takato, I am still bitter about Cardcaptors. However, I am eternally thankful to Nelvana for allowing the uncut release to exist (sublicenced it to Pioneer).
2. 4kids (duh). I don't like their attitude really. I REALLY don't like the music they use (so choppy!). Most of all, I don't like the editing, but it goes further than that, I don't like the fact that they pick up series that are intended for a somewhat older audience and (One Piece, Shaman King) and then kiddify them for t.v. Just my opinion.
