Yep! Another 'worst' thread!
All you have to do is post what dub name is horrible, you know, doesn't suit the character etc. Like I've seen people hating Hao's name was changed to Zeke and Manta into Morty. You don't have to do Shaman King ones though.
You can post more than one if you want.

Oh, won't this be fun...I only have four (official) ones so far...XD
*Asakura Hao - Zeke Asakura ('zeke' and 'asakura' just don't go together! THIS is the ONLY SK name change I hate. >< )
*Daidouji Tomoyo - Madison Taylor (you can feel the valley girl in that name...and...isn't Madison a guy's name? o_0)
*Kinomoto Touya - Tori Avalon (ah yes, Nelvana doesn't want us to know he's gay right? Great way of hiding it by giving him a girl's name. >< )
*Kenji (from Pokemon) - Tracey Sketchit (not only is this a VERY bad pun, but Tracy doesn't seem right for a guy's name...o_0 Oh, and I could've sworn they messed up and called him "Tracy SketchUM" once...o_0)
*All the names in Cardcaptors that ended with "Star" "Moon" etc....they just...sucked...T T
Does the pronounciation of names count? XD If so...there's Sakura....heck, sometimes I would swear they were calling her "Sacora". o_0 Oh, and I'm sure we all know about the fact her dub name was going to be 'Nikki'. Thank God it wasn't...@_@

The problem with threads like this is that invevitably someone will show up who actually has these names and they are going to be offended ^o^ .
In regards to Cardcaptors, I would of prefered if Sakura's name was changed to "Nikki" for the dub. The two characters are THAT different.
As to dub names I really don't like. I would have to say "Trey Racer". It's just SUCH a goofy name ^^; . Of course, one could argue that the name being goofy is partialy the point (considering the characters in mankin make fun of the name "HoroHoro" sometimes ^^; .)

1. Some of the Spanish Detective Conan names are godawful... they just don't fit the characters... The master list Shin'ichi Kudo -> Bobby Jackson Conan Edogawa -> Conan Blasy Ran Mori -> Claudia Guzman Kogoro Mori -> Carlos Guzman Prof. Agasa -> Prof. Cardillo Inspector Megure -> Inspector Vera Genta Kojima -> Beto Ayumi Yoshida -> Jessica Mistuhiko Tsuburaya -> Jorge Ironically, Mitsuhiko is called "George" in the Spanish while it is Genta that is called "George" in the English dub. -------- Speaking about Horohoro, his dub named, "Trey Racer", reminds me of the name of the Reboot character "Ray Tracer". ----------- I believe Madison can be a girls' name.

Lovely took mine! The HoroHoro to Trey Racer one, but another would have to be the change from Honda to Tristan in Yugioh. I mean what the crap? Others, Hao=Zeke ? Manta= Morty. The only reason I see this as a sensible change is the lack of Manta as a common english name. 4kids probably thought of Morty as a close resemblance to the original Manta. But then I guess an argument can be made about Yoh. Who in america would call their kid Yoh? Aside from SK fanatics! ^_^

I would have kept the name Manta but pronounced it like "Manta ray" if I was 4Kids. And I would have kept Honda and made car-related jokes XD Lovely took mine! Great way of hiding it by giving him a girl's name. >< ) Actually, Tohru Hikawa of RockMan.exe was named "Tory Froid" in the MegaMan NT Warrior TV Show (and if he appears in the Viz manga, that would be the name he has in that one too) Which gets me to ANOTHER silly change - robot name changes in MegaMan NT Warrior anime, which ended up getting carried over to the English manga :< Also, the original names of the MegaMan NT Warrior cast aren't so different from the English anime names: * Lan Hikari is Net Hikari (http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/rockmanexe_axess/character/character.html) * Mayl / Maylu is Mail Sakurai (http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/rockmanexe_axess/character/chara03.html)

Well... the "With"/"Wiz" thing was partially to do with the fact that names that are pronouns tend to make for some akward english sentences ^^;.
("With" is a pronoun right ^^; ?)
There is a character in my favorite manga Dragon Knights that is named "Thatz" . But in a lot of the authors illustrations she spells it "Thats" which ends up causing the same problem as "With" ^o^ .
(Thatz with a "z" seems cooler somehow anyways ^_^ .)

All from Rockman.exe (Megaman NT Warrior) Fireman to Torchman Colorman to Wackoman Slashman to Savageman And a SH*TLOAD of others, but I didn't watch the dub much. Actually, Coloredman/Colorman (can be either) was changed for racial reasons. People who get offended by racism FOR the people who SHOULD be offended would be all "GASP! They're saying Colorman, to offend black people and people of other coloured skin, even though it's really because he's a clown!" *starts to go into the "I'm annoyed at people who accuse anything of racism when they should keep their noses out" rant* H'anyways, onto my name changes I dislike... *pulls out a REALLY long list* Heh-heh-heh... But, really I dislike names that are completely different from their dub names, or when they try to use Japanese names and use their own pronounciations and then spell them the same way. My example? YYH's dub. First, "Urameshi (OO-RA-MAY-SHI)" is pronounced "Yurameshi (YOUR-UH-MESH-I)". So, they carry that into Yukimura Keiko's name. They pronounce it right, as "Keiko Yukimura", but they spell it as "Kayko Ukimura".

1. I'm not overly concerned with pronunciation in certain dubs, considering these are native English-speaking VA's. 2. The Keiko to Kayko change was done as a pronunciation aid - I feel it was unnecessary as most people assume it's "Keiko" anyway. Yup. It's also seen in French and German (with the original names, which is also why I'm upset at TMS and Shogakukan) There's Detective Conan in spanish?!
