This isn't one of my usual 'complain about the Yuugiouu dub' threads, this thread is a decision: In your favourite series what do you prefer more, the anime or the manga. Please keep it clean and give good reasons. Is it the art, the detail, the music, whatever. *Cough4Kidsarecrapcough*

Hmmm... That's a tough one...
On the good side for manga, manga has the ability to give more surprises, because without an opening or ending song, it can't make spoilers, plus it doesn't require any fillers.
However, anime gets my vote because of the opening and ending songs, the voices, the animation, the ability to make more emotion etc.

I would agree with you on most of those points there. The only time where I believe that the manga did a better job is when the anime(especially if it's a long-running one) does a complete 180 on the story or changes something significantly. For example, the Full Metal Alchemist manga, where at about episode 24/25 it becomes an entirely different story. If the anime can keep the integrity of the manga, then I believe that the soundtrack, animation, and ability to stir emotions and push peoples' buttons, all help make it into an awesome experience.

I like manga and anime about equally. Seriously.
Manga has the ability to handle dialoug a bit better. It can also describe things, such as characters inner thoughts, a bit better as well. Manga is wonderfully portable, well priced, and full of nice b/w art (I like b/w). I also like to read in general, so this could be a factor.
Anime has the potential to express movement and action ESPECIALLY fighting a lot better than manga. Add this with color and good music and your set.
Which brings me to my pet peeve concerning manga and anime. I HATE it if an anime and manga are EXACTLY alike (to the point where it looks like panels from the manga were simply redrawn frame by frame for the anime *cough*KareKano*cough*.) If either medium does not do its best to play off its strengths, than I look at it as a wasted effort.

I'm answering my own post, how sad. I am torn between as well but I think I can make a decision. Before I do I'll weigh up the points: Manga+ More violent (Sort of a plus) Usually better drawn (In my experience anyway) More detail and explanation in the storyline Manga- No music (Duh) No opening/ending themes Not moving (Once again, duh) No voices
Anime+ Cool Music Cool opening themes Usually good voice acting (Originals anyway) Sometimes amazing art Sometimes good fillers Anime- Inconsistant art (Some anime anyway) Less detailed art Sometimes crap fillers
I s'pose I'll go for anime, close one though.

Manga all the way for me.
For one, they might not have music or voices but I really don't care ._. I've read too many books so I'm 'animated', that's what my teacher said >_<, when it comes to imagining what happens in books or mangas alike.
Two, it's cheaper and portable. I can lug them to school, tours, etc. And they don't kill my allowance...
Three, not that many fillers in the manga like the anime *coughInuyashacough* and the manga usually stay true to the storyline and doesn't stray from it.
Four, those little side comics that the artist usually puts in like FMA, Shaman King, and all others. Those are the most amusing parts for me.
Five, they have the artist's flair, tone, and substance in their art...or that might just be me being delusional.
And lastly, I just like the manga better XP But hey, I'm saying this as someone who can just go walk 5 blocks to her book store and buy her manga in Korean which comes out at a 1-3 month delay behind Japan so...
My opinion really doesn't matter ^.^;

I prefer manga...but for some reason, I feel sooo lazy about replying in this thread...XD;;;
Ah well, while yes, it doesn't have color, and it doesn't have music blah blah. But manga usually has more...ermm..feeling to it? 0_o
*bad at wording things* And like mentioned before, manga doesn't have fillers. Inuyasha's fillers are what made me hate that anime. ><! NOTHING BUT FILLERS!!!
*cough*
Also, manga goes much more in depth than in anime, it deals with the characters better than the anime does. And the story progresses (sp?) better. It also tends to have A LOT more to the story than the anime. Like Shaman King. The manga is way more descriptive than the anime. Speaking of which...*mumble mumble* stupid brother missed my package twice already...GO PICK IT UP! ><
*ahem* Sorry...
Ohh...Matamune, you made a good point! ^_^ Portability! XD (is that a word?) With manga, you can practically take it almost everywhere with you, and enjoy it anywhere as well. But anime, you need a TV and/or a DVD/VRC player. XD;
Ermm...uh...I've got nothing else...

While I often prefer manga, usually I prefer whichever format came first, because that is the way that the creator intended it to be.
The only exceptions to this are Evangelion, because I feel that the manga does a better job of capturing the characters, and Suikoden III, simply because the way the story is told in the game does not allow for a completely linear storyline (you have to go through some scenes up to three times with different characters), whereas the manga format allows them to tell the story completely linearly.

I think the two compliment each other.
You can really get a feel for the emotions of the characters in the manga, but it's also cool to see how the writer saw the scene when it gets acted out in anime.
I'm not sure if what I'm writing makes sense anymore.
I would love to see Suiko 3 anime and manga. I was disappointed when I noticed that Suiko 3 the game doesn't incorporate the anime into the story. Just the trailer at the title screen. I watched the movie and I was like all right this game is going to use anime, but when I got to some of the scenes they showed in the anime clips I was disappointed. Only a little though. The game is awesome.
If I had to choose one, I would have to go with manga. Which is wierd, before coming here, I would have probably gone with anime in a heartbeat. Who wants to spend time reading, when you can just watch it on TV. Then I started collecting SK manga and I was like @_@ WOW! This is soo awesome. Where have you been all my life!! XD

I'm divided. I like seeing stuff in color and action, but I can't watch it unless I waste 50 hours of my life downloading it or wait for it to be broadcast on TV. As for manga, that's more readily available to me because you don't have to download scanlation, and I'm a Shonen Jump suscriber. I like manga because it delves deeper in the story (and it sounds like "mango"!), and anime because...color and action! Whooo....*mesmerized*
But I don't like manga where the anime has much better animation, or anime where the manga has better art. That's my $0.02.

I love both anime and manga (as do many, I s'pose...). There's certain things that they each capture best. In manga, I love the detail, both in the art and the dialogue. In anime, I love the music (save for dubbed stuff ) and the movement. Can't convey cool action movement with manga. There's also more emotion (well, actually a different kinda of emotion...manga emotion is unique and amazing) because there are actualy voices. Also, in manga, sometimes I have no idea how to pronouce people's names. I like to read the manga with watching the anime. One or the other, to me, just seems incomplete by itself. Don't get me wrong though, I hate animes that follow their mangas religously, like One Piece (at least the dub version; haven't seen the original). I mean, they use a lot of the exact same phrasing as in the manga. Examples: Aoshi (Ruroni Kenshin) and Kiba (Wolf's Rain).

I love both Anime and Manga, a lot of times it really depends on what you watch/read first.
If you watch the anime first, then when you read the manga you can imagine what the conversations sound like.
If you read the manga first, then you created your own idea on the voices of the characters and may be upset or pissed off at the anime (whih is very rare unless you watch the dub instead of the original)
You also have to think about the fact that manga and anime version of a show may have events and characters that the other may not have.
that's all i've got

I enjoy both.
It seems that the manga version of an anime always get away with more. More blood, violence, etc. I enjoy that stuff. The anime is good for adding more emotion to the dialouge, given the VAs are good. And the battle scenes just look awesome.
I'm sorry, but I love the Inuyasha fillers! It's good to have a lighthearted, albeit useless, episode after a long, action-filled, and sometimes depressing story arc. ^_^

Actually, that makes me think of something...
The Buddhist symbol/Swastika gets to be in the manga, but when it's shown in anime, it gets changed to something else.
Examples:
-The Hyuuga Branch House symbol on the forehead (Naruto). This was changed into a green "X" with hook things on either side.
-The Whitebeard insignia (One Piece). This was originally the symbol, with a face in the middle. This was changed into a cross, with fancy ends, with the face in the middle.
