Alright. This is a thread where you tell us the ultimate nightmare: 4Kids dubbing yet anouther one of your favorite animes.  You pick your favorite anime (other than Mankin) and try to imagine what would happen if 4Kids were to get their hands on it. For Example: Anime: Inu Yasha If 4Kids Dubbed this... -Inu Yasha and Seshoumaru wouldn't be half brothers trying to kill each other half the time. They would be half cousins removed five times. -Miroku hand would be edited off -Inu Yasha wouldn't cuss -Inu Yasha could slice and dice an enemy to death and yet his enemy would not bleed. -(there's more but I'm sure you all get the picture) Virdict:I'm glad 4Kids didn't dub this! So come on try it! If the anime's already been dubbed to a company another that 4Kids, it'll give you a chance to be thankful for what you have. If it hasn't...well it give you time to say some prayers. |

XD Fun thread... *looks to DVD shelf* Chrno Crusade, Kiddy Grade, or Chobits...  I can think of one, if they did Chobits, when the bandagey thingies come off Chii, she'd be like..in a shirt..or...something....or some sort of bikini. o___O;;; Kiddy Grade....>>;; Let's just say, the grape juice scene in Lost//Days...would be edited...badly..or probably, cut out altogether.. And Chrno Crusade.....Rosette wouldn't be a 'Nun with a Gun' anymore. Chrno wouldn't be called a devil. They'd call Azmaria god knows what, but not an apostle. I'll probably be back with more later. |

I'm not sure if he cusses in the Japanese version. A lot of English cuss word insults are translated from the rude forms of "you" in Japanese.
InuYasha may be marketed to a slightly higher age demographic in the US than in Japan due to cultural differences.

Hmmm....lets try....Berserk - 'Guts' would would be changed to 'Gary' - All the blood would be edited out - The Behilit that Griffith has would probably be dubbed 'The Destiniy Egg' (*shudder*) - Dan Green would play Griffith....as well as half of the cast - MANY color changes - The Godhand might be dubbed, 'The Society of Power' or something like that. - They make their own music and put it EVERYWHERE. - Excessive use of the words 'destroy' and 'eliminate' - Total episode count would be reduced from 25 to like....18. Y'know, there would be so many things edited, changed, and cut that it would outrank One Piece in terms of edits! Besides, To anyone whose seen the show, there would be no chance in hell that 4kids would get it or want it anyway... |

hmm... DNAngel...
-all references to satoshi being homosexual would be cut.
-kiss the kiss at the end of the series goodbye.
-everything would be blank, becuase its all covered in kanji.
-half the names would be changed to something simpler... like saehara would be bob. O.o
-they might have to skip half an episode, where satoshi gives daisuke CPR.
-they'd cut all of dark's cussing.
-they'd make krad less psycotic...
-ah, yes, I forgot. they'd change the title to "DNAspirit" or something. >>;;

Well, since we're all doing shows that have been dubbed already, here's some of mine:
Outlaw Star-
No... Wait... 4Kids couldn't have editted that more than the guys at Toonami had... ^_^;;;
Ah! Evangelion-
-They would make Shinji less of a despondent guy whose neck you wanna wring at the end of the show and movies.
-They would cut out most of the fanservice moments, and funny moments, including "Thermal Expansion", both scenes.
-Eva Unit 01 would be less of a brutal machine, and most of its fights would involve a whole mess of editting. Eva Unit 03 would be cut out completely.
-Asuka wouldn't be German, and instead would either be American or French, or something, and yet not have a known nationality.
-Some character would have a gawdy British accent, in which syllables are overpronounced. (This is a must in every 4Kids dub, I have found out.)
-Rei would be less enigmatic.
-Kaji wouldn't die. He would simply disappear, or be taken away to jail.
-Misato would drink a lot of juice, perhaps power juice, and switch to coffee after Kaji disappears.
-Most of the movies would be cut and make even less sense. In fact, only a couple of minutes of either would be intact.

Besides, To anyone whose seen the show, there would be no chance in hell that 4kids would get it or want it anyway... Well, we're assuming 4K does its research. Personally, I think Al got a list of show descriptions and maybe a pilot before the greenlight. "Shaman King? Why this sounds exactly like Pokemon just with ghosts instead. Call up Mattel!" Um, yeah... Here's another winner: "Braver Musashi". It's about a boy who heads out to be a master of fishing by seeking out his mother's family. So it may actually be a decent show for all I know. I just have a show leaflet from some years ago when the producers were trying to get a US distributor, but it sounds lame. "It's Pokemon- but with fishing!" And hey, why not... 4Kids' Gravitation? Names changes, check. Shuichi wants to be the best pop star in the world, Yuki's just another rival... and those things they wear for concerts? Digital coverup. |

4kids Utena anyone? I don't really know about the series itself...they would find some way to cut out Saionji bitchslapping Anthy  (XDD;; sorry i couldnt resist..XP) They'd remove all hints of Juri and Shiori being in love. The movie...oh god..XD The bath scene with Miki and Kozue would be cut. They would find some way to work around Saionji slicing open Utena's shirt. They'd also find a way to cut out Anthy kissing Utena, and just saving her during that fight. Oh, and the scene with Anthy and Akio...when he like stabs her, falls out the window, etc. x.x Who knows how theyd handle the dancing scene... And the ending..well...kiss the most awesome movie ending goodbye. ._. They'd probably cut it out altogether, or, have Utena and Anthy fully clothed, and edit out the big kiss.  ; Probably alot more too.... |

I pray every day that 4Kids doesn't dub Hunter x Hunter. It scares me just to think about it, especially since Amazon.com's review for the manga claimed Hunter x Hunter was going to be the next big Pokemon when it doesn't have any similarities to Pokemon at all. >< If they did dub it, 4Kids would probably change the name of the show to something cheesy like "Beast Trainers". Gon would become Gary or some other generic American name, Leorio would be changed to Leon, Kurapica would be changed to a girl and be renamed as Katie, and Killua would be renamed to Kyle. Everything about Gon's father leaving him when he was young would be cut out and Gon now wants to become a Beast Trainer so he could capture the beasts in the world. Everything about Leorio wanting to become a doctor would be cut out because that would be too nice of him, and the laws of dubbing goes that any misunderstood characters that appear to be self-absorbed at first have to become completely self-absorbed in their edited dubs.
Everything about Killiua's family being assasins would be cut out and he now wants to become a Beast Trainer so he too can capture Beasts. He would also be changed to being completely rude to Gon as any potenial rivals do in edited dubs. The episode where Leorio faces those hallunicating sap things would be completely screwed up beyond imagination, they'd probably have to end up skipping it. And the criminals who Gon and his friends fight in the Trick Tower would be changed to just being school-yard bullies who want to settle the score with Gon. And finally, if 4Kids did dub Hunter x Hunter, I will personally fly to their HQ in NYC and send everyone there to the land of the no longer living!

((Note: I have only seen some of the manga. I'm just assuming the anime is like it.))

- The bored workers at 4kids who do the digital paint will have to work 5 times as much as usual.
- The series, due to several scene cuts, will now be a TV special.
