You like Duel Masters better than Yuugiou? *shudders*. Even dub Yuugiou is better than Duel Masters. So what if the game rules are different, of course they'll be different. Original Yuugiou is better than Duel Masters by far. Watch and be enlightened. I should really let this topic die, Duel Masters doesn't deserve a topic.

i think duel master is quite stupid.. they actually TALK about making the movie like they say "episode whatever" and "o'm the star" etc. its so annoying. Yu Gi Oh also haave better art and the story line is so much better in Yu Gi Oh..-

So much negativity.... So YOU guys are the reason I avoided this show for about a year . Lovely's thoughts: Ok. Basically, the humor reminds me a LOT of the dub of Samurai Pizza Cats. Some of you may be too young to remember, but the Pizza Cats show was an... interesting anime dub that's pretty famous amongst us older anime fans. Two reasons- 1- The show was funny as hell. 2- the Dub writers DID NOT have the original script. They just made things up as they went along. So, basically, if you like INCREDIBLY goofy, almost non-stop, one-liner type humor, you'll probably get a kick out of Duel Masters. If you prefer more serious fair (and apparently, a lot of you do 0_o ) then you'll probably want to skip this show. Basically, Duel Masters feels a lot like a "parody dub" or "MST". It just makes fun of itself a lot. Now... to quote from my own livejournal! --------------------------------------------------- I first heard about the anime Duel Masters about a year ago, but figuring it was another card/tournament dub like Yu Gi Oh I didn't really think much of it. The little bit I heard was conflicting reports. "Corny, Sucks, Parody, Rip Off...." etc, etc. However, now with my "new job" every morning I wake up fairly early to get ready for work, and during this, as I'm getting ready, I sometimes catch the end of an episode. And... Well, The humor IS corny... but... I can't help but find it incredibly funny ^^;. The show makes fun of itself about every other line. I suspect the script is similar to how the Samurai Pizza Cats dub was done. That is, they just made it up as they went along. Because, seriously, the show makes fun of itself and of EVERYTHING about every other line. Paraphrasing.... Hero saying goodbye to family and friends scene: Bye everyone ^^ ! Mom: Bye Honey! male friend 1: I have faith in you Hero! Hero: I love you. *pause* Male friend 2: He's talking to his mom. It's just goofy suff like that . Maybe because I only see part of the show in the eaaaaaarly morning, but... the lines just makes me crack up. I tried looking online for information about the Japanese version of this show, just because I was curious if the dub really is a (incredibly irreverent but humorous) "hack job." And I can't find anything. Ah well, what can I do? I guess I'll just continue to catch pieces of episodes here and there just for the goofy but fun one-liners. "I just love running and the way it makes my hair look. So full of body!"

Lovely, you hit the nail on the head with it being similar to SPC. The show doesn't particularly make me laugh, but occasionally, I come across quotes from it and find myself laughing like there's no tomorrow. On another note, the writers of this show seem to be Buffy fans. There were several references to it in titles and quotes. ...But I still don't like it. JMO.

THANK YOU Halo! That thread is full of greatness. Especially the link to the dub creators site, "Plastic Cow." Which just explains everything. The company is full of crazy people. But even better is this litte site. XD *dies laughing* Oh, and I noticed something. The first episodes try to play things straight, and the jokes are spaced further apart. However, as episodes go on.... the jokes become more and more frequent. Good stuff, good stuff ^^ .

Thanks? From the Great Lovely? Awesome! And you're welcome.
I watched the new ep that aired on Toonami today. The beginning of the show the narrator came on and announced some random thing about dancing. Then some girl (her voice anyway) came on and yelled at him there's no narrator on the show.
Heh. It was funny. You know, when I think of this show in SPC mode, its not that bad. Dare I say, I actually like it. (retracts prior statement about not enjoying this show).
*views Lovely's site* *dies*
Hee. XD

"CLASS OF 2006 ROCKS!" *laughs* Yeah, that short little moment had me cracking up.
Other fun moments were when the twins commented on the split screen and the "GPS magic leotard" XD .
Oh, and the message board comment.
"This show would have a LOT more fans on the message boards if I was the sidekick."
It's official, I am now a huge fan of this show.
I know everything How's that? 'Cause I'm an evil genius ;D
EDIT: Woops, I forgot to mention, the twins are really cute ^^; !

Yeah, that "Class of 2006" comment kicked all kinds of @$$. It almost made me wish I graduated a year later. And I can't believe I forgot the message board comment.
Yeah, the twins were kinda cute. But I also kinda enjoyed the team duel between them and Shobu and um, the evil genius guy. I am also glad the duels are far shorter than on Yu-Gi-Oh!.

A new season, a new adapting company and a new dubbing crew (lots of familiar animaze voices ^^.)
Duel Masters quote of the week: The announcer: "That's right! I used 'whom'! I was an English major!!!!"
Both the visuals AND the script were both on some very, very, good crack this week. And I'm loving the new adapting studio. the studio who worked on season 2 were hit or miss, the gags for this season are all pretty much laugh out loud hillarious. Good stuff. Hopefully, I remember to watch next week ^^ .

I agree with Lovely. You've gotta love these crack dubs. I think I remember some Wayne's World and Buffy references on the show. (i.e. "We're not worthy! We're not worthy!") Really? I know it seems that way... but... if that's true...how would the writers know what was going on in the first place when they were trying to translate the show into English? Are you sure they just wrote most of the dialougue on a whim?
