It certainly seemed that way to me when I came across this article on ANN. Revenue and profits are dropping, Two of their token productions (Pokemon / Yu-Gi-Oh) are loosing popularity, and Kahn still sounds stupid.

If 4Kids is running out of shows in Japan that they can turn into Pokemon rip-offs, shouldn't that be a clue to them that anime can make a profit without having some sort of video game or card game franchise to go along with it? I guess in the end it's better that they're finally realizing that if they want more monster taming anime rip-offs, they should make their own instead of taking an anime like Yugioh and trying to turn it into something it's not, though I wish companies like them and Nelvana had done that sooner.

Hmmmm... does any one else find this slightly suspicious. I mean, "oppertunities" ? Maybe the Japanese are discovering they aren't making as much money from 4kids as they like. Heh, I wish.
(Lovely believes Japanese companies are oftentimes JUST as guilty as 4kids for bad releases.)

I would like to see that, only, if our dreams do come true, and FUNI actually get's it they will likely keep the current VA's, and Sanji's charachter will be messed up for eternity by David Moo's voice...

TMNT is not a 4Kids original series. It was created in the 80's by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, and the current animated show follows THEIR characters and plot, not 4Kids. For whatever reason 4kids just spared it from injecting too much lameness.

but if 4Kids is really going down, maybe it's a sign of the apocalypse that they'll start releasing uncut DVDs of the other shows (or at least continue SK) thru FUNi. one can only hope, I know.

Ummm...

TMNT isn't really a Japanese animation, so 4Kids didn't really have any major places to screw up (hopefully Mirage breathed down their backs to make sure of this).

Die, 4Kids die!!! But it's a crying shame that Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, and most of Shaman King have already been destroyed thanks to 4Kids' evil.

The new TMNT isn't a "4Kids" rendition. The new TMNT *IS* the original Turtles, or as close to it as any other adaption ever was. The old cartoon was the furthest thing from the original TMNT that was ever made.

Unfortunately, the latest news is that no more uncut DVDs are being planned anytime soon.

We know what you meant. (well, I did, at least.) The 80's cartoon was a worse abomination than any 4kids dub, though.
