....and... BUMPETH!!!!!!! *bricked* OK, I was gonna make a new topic about this, but remembered that there were two different threads about 4kids-releated finnancial declines, and this was the one that I found first so.....yeah.... Anyways, I just found this little tidbit from ANN. Mattel is seems to be suffering a big loss in profit due a drastic slump in the sales of 'JuiceBox' (whatever the hell that is) and the Yu-Gi-Oh! propertyThis supports what I said a while ago (a rather long while at that) about how one of 4kids major properties seems fading in popularity, and from what I've seen (or rather HAVEN'T seen), nobody seems to give a damn about Yu-Gi-Oh GX. Heh, slowly but surely people, slowly but surely.... EDIT: Here's an article on it if you're interested: www.icv2.com/articles/home/7683.html

Hehe, I've seen that Juicebox thing. It's like a little mini video player thing. It's kind of cool, but they get you buy forcing you to buy these super expensive chips (sort of like disc space) so they aren't very cost effective for kids.
And Mattel is supposed to be doing One Piece action figures...

What I find most insulting, more than anything else, is that Al Kahn still thinks pushing Yu-Gi-Oh! is the way to go.
Dude, open your eyes. IT'S DEAD. Hey, you know how Winx Club, Shaman King, and One Piece are making up for its decline? DO SOMETHING WITH THOSE FOR ONCE.
BTW, according to a poster from Toon Zone I know, 4Kids' only saviors are Nintendo merchandise and The Dog (their association with the American Kennel Club).

I'm surprised nobody has posted this yet, but according to ANN, it looks like One Piece and MMP have been dropped from Fox's schedule. animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=7811 "According to the 4K!ds website, Fox Net, and local Fox listings 4Kids TV is dropping Mew Mew Power and One Piece beginning this Saturday. Currently we have no information regarding if/when these shows will return to 4Kids TV." Personally, I think this could only be a temporary drop, since didn't 4Kids temporarily drop Mankin before they aired the final episodes in the past? But if this change is permanent, what's going to happen to One Piece and MMP? Will they end up moving to CN? Will 4Kids lose their rights to it? Will another dubbing company come in and re-dub them? If MMP and One Piece move to CN, could they possibly be dubbed with less cuts, since CN doesn't seem to be as strict about censorship of their anime shows as Saturday morning blocks on local networks are?

Actually, if OP and MMP were dropped permanently from the schedule, then they'd be stuck in limbo. 4Kids is kinda vindictive or antagonistic to older anime fans (at least judging by their practices). But I could see 4Kids selling the rights to someone else at a very high price. Other than that, I think the only way people are gonna see OP and MMP is via fan subs or Japanese DVDs.

It does seem to be quite the burning issue now.

OK, some more 4kids-related news gang! As of the end of this year, 4kids is letting the liscence to the Pokemon franchise expire. All the lisencing deals and whatnot are to be done by a subsidiary of the Pokemon Co. of Japan, Pokemon USA Inc. And to think that that franchise is probably what gave 4kids real success.... Perhaps this hopefully (and finally) lead up to billingual releases of the TV show in the future?

You'd be right. Whether it's insisting on changes (certain Gundams in G Gundam, the characters in Detective Conan/Case Closed), messing with dubs (Love Hina), or releasing DVDs themselves (Toei's self-released DVDs), "no one screws up anime like the Japanese themselves".

Probably Nintendo, but not 4kids. And Nintendo is owned by guess who...However, 4kids does not directly control Nintendo.

I definetly would NOT say that Nintendo is "owned" by 4kids, but I think its just 4kids which helps release some of the alot of the Nintendo-related merchandise (stuff like apparel, backpacks, etc.) Either way, I'm pretty sure that Nintendo is on a much bigger level of the hierarchy than 4kids. According to the article, "licensing responsibilities were split between the two companies". So maybe thats what you were when you were thinking about when you were asking about the ownership of Pokemon USA Inc? In any case, the only relation that 4kids has to Pokemon as of January 1st is that they are still gaining commisions from the current series for the next copule of years. And I'm gonna quote Yashouzoid/Takumi on this one: EDIT: Forgot the word "NOT" in my first sentence!

I don't have all the details, but Nintendo is NOT owned by 4kids. Nintendo is a much older and larger company than 4kids can ever hope to be. Pokemon USA is probably under the main Pokemon company in Japan, which is under Nintendo of Japan. Either that, or they run Pokemon USA under the NOA (Nintendo of America) Either way, Nintendo of Japan runs everything form their mushroom towers, and I can almost completely assure you, Nintendo of Japan has very little to do with 4kids, if anything at all. What the thing on the 4kids site likily means is, that there was a partnership with Nintendo regarding the liscensing of any Nintendo related series targeted at a kid audience. Likily the reason why all 3 Nintendo animes have gone to 4kids. (Pokemon, F-Zero, and Kirby) There is (was) a partnership going on, that's for sure, but what the dropping of Pokemon has to do with the partnership with Nintendo I have no idea. What I am really interested in however, is how the Pokemon anime is going to be after the 8th season. 4kids has been really odd lately, the current ... 8th season I think... I think it's 8th, has most of it's theme song cut form the 9th "BAttle Frontier" arc, while Ash hasn't even lost the Hoenne league yet. (Sorry for Spoilers, but, if anyone didn't guess he lost again.... they are under the assumption pokemon changes it's forumla) This could mean new voice actors, and perhaps a cease to the airing of pokemon on TV. It's kind of exciting in a way to see what happens, I doubt Pokemon USA has any kind of dubbing abilities, and in the past, all videogames related to 4kids properties, have been voiced by 4kids actors... This also should give hope to SK, OP, and other anime owned by 4kids fans, that 4kids does drop things. In 5 years (or maybe even 2) Shaman King, or...*perhaps* One Piece could easily resurface as long as Shonen Jump doesn't go under. I hope I didn't sound too smart ass there ^_^;;; I actually don't know all the legal stuff, but, I really doubt such a large multi-national company as Nintendo could be owned by a US dubbing house. XD ((Tonfa beat me to it *shakes fist* )
