You know what's sad?
Right now, Pokemon has the best chance at getting fully released in bilingual format.

I know, we all know. It's painful. But HARK! UNTO JOSH'S CHIN A POSSUM IS TIED!
And someday soon, $Kids shall go bankrupt. And then a decent company (Funi?) could get the liscense for Shaman King, and release it bilingually. Karma isn't just something that we have here on the boards: if you treat the rest of the world like crap, the world'll do the same right back at you.
(I still have a horrid impulse to dress up as "Al Kahn" at Ohayocon and see how many people recoil in fear.)

(I still have a horrid impulse to dress up as "Al Kahn" at Ohayocon and see how many people recoil in fear.) You should! But recoil in fear? I'd be much less surprised if they started beating you while yelling, "You ruined good anime!" Anyways, as long as 4kids is getting pumped money from Nintendo, they should be fine. Al **** (as he is known over at the 4kids forums...) is a very successful buisnessman, he knows that alot of American kids, and their families are stupid, chances are that they don't even know Japan doesn't speak English! Mr. Kahn is devious, agreed, but he's successful at being devious.

I don't know whether it's a good or bad thing that One Piece was responsible for helping make up for the losses from the other properties.

I don't know whether it's a good or bad thing that One Piece was responsible for helping make up for the losses from the other properties. From my understanding, the loss that was made up was only a minor offset from loosing a crapload more revenue. And One Piece is only playing a partial role in that situation, Winx Club and Cabbage Patch Kids were also part of the combined offset. No, it seems like all Kahn is really focused on is pushing Yu-Gi-Oh! and TNMT. In fact, this article dosen't even mention One Piece.

OH NO. DDDDDDDDD: No. Please. Stick to what you sadly already have. I agree with Throes. I think they'll still kill whatever they license. ._. It would be good if uncut dvds came out of it, but..i've kinda given up hope for that. Who knows, I just really hope they don't butcher anymore good anime. T_T;; ...That Kannazuki no Miko ad was nice to see though. *shot*

This new subdivision isn't handling anime, though. To 4kids, anime is "4kids", so I doubt it'll change the way they handle their current anime properties. And as Throes said...even if they do stuff geared towards an older audience, the quality of their productions still suck.

4Kids has this retarded mentality that all animation is for children. Despite that most of the truly successful series (The Simpsons is one example) were successful because they have a mass appeal and don't polarize one audience, 4Kids would rather put on their rose-colored spectacles and pretend their bullshit works.
If they shift their demographic, we won't get any more One Pieces. We'll just get Initial Ds, hardly a step up. They've already pretty much said that 4sight isn't going to have to do anything with anime. I've already asked Roz Nowicki about it, but I'm sure I'll get the same answer, if I even get one. The way I see it, unless 4sight manages to pull a huge success out of their ass through company manipulation and lucky broadcast deals *again*, it'll just end up another burden in their already damned history. Even then, I doubt things will turn around: They have this thing where they keep selling their shares to people, then re-buy them, which hurts their stock, and I have no idea WHY they're doing it (perhaps to make it look like they're profitable - that's against the law, isn't it?), because it's NOT WORKING.
Chaotic is going to fail. Viva Pinata is going to fail. Pretty Cure? Pfft. I think first of all if they want to be successful, they have to stop dooming every potential hit they acquire to some hellish Saturday morning timeslot. It'll come to a point where they'll be blown away by DiC's new syndication block which will now be going onto Saturday mornings through CBS.
Ah, whatever... Anyone who knows me has heard it all before.

AOD thread on the matterI have a (short) comment in there, but I'm too tired to quote myself right now (sleepy...) There's some good comments in there in general though. I will point out that the quote is, "anime isn't necessarily ruled out of the 4Sight line up, but that anime lends itself more to a children's market" So there's still a small and worrysome chance that they might go for some anime titles and "trick them out" or do some "seventeening" to the some shows. My wish is that they just make some stupid one hour teen drama's and leave anime the heck alone. And don't expect any uncut One Piece or Shaman King. I mean, for one thing, those disks might have SUBTITLES. And since none of us read as children, we probably won't start now. Well, if Khan logic holds firm and all. (SIDENOTE: You guys could of totally made a new thread for this you know ^^;. Ah well. Too late now.)

Yeah, we'll just get Initial Ds instead of One Pieces, I imagine.
