I looked on kidswb's site and a video shows random pictures of characters (randomly including Bakura's Necro Mannequin) and creatures from the memory arc. So they will probably keep at least some of it in, they'll just:
Remove all the music (Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh has very good background music), Edit anything remotely suggestable, Change the plot, Add in annoying jokes, Change names and Possibly merge/remove episodes.
I'm not sure what's worse, them not airing it at all or them airing it after it's '4kidifying'. This could be tragic, One Piece style.

Well, the new season starts this weekend, so it's time to see if our fears are true.
And Ryu, I have a bad feeling on a somewhat-of-a-major plot point that 4Kids will remove if they do the Egyptian arc, the fact that Yami/Atemu's uncle, the priest Akunadin, murdered everyone in the village that thief-Bakura lived in, and mixed the bodies in gold to make the Millenium items, hence the reason he hates Atemu, his father, and the other priests.

I recall reading in the manga that it was 'kioku no sekai' so Memory World or World of Memories. (though, please bear with me, I haven't read those chapters in ages) The french manga also calls it 'monde de la memoire (du Pharaon)' or 'World of (the Pharaoh's) Memories'. And the company that does the series is pretty devout to keeping true to the original. Cutting the Egyptian arc? I was worried about that. I mean, though faaaaaaar less violent (and everything dark and bloody) than the manga in which almost every chapter that came out each week was bloody, the anime had scenes which I suppose would make 4Kids cringe (ie **SPOILER** When the King of Thieves Bakura comes charging into the palace dragging the mummified body of Atem's father and his treasures**). I mean, the Memory Arc explains so many things like the creation of the Millenium Items, Yami's past, his priests' pasts, Bakura's past, who they are parallels of present-day characters of the series, the girl, Akunadin, the pharaoh's relation to a certain priest etc. etc. Though probably what happens to the priests would be hard to cover up with "They went to the shadow realm". Remember Mahaad? (Though, his is easy to cover up when you think about it) I've forgotten, was Simon Muran (Moran) mentioned in the anime? With regards to the manga, why are they (Viz) skewing with the order of the series? Whoever thought up the grand idea that skipping over 10 volumes worth of the story to get the end was on something. (Or, actually what exactly is it that Viz did? I remember reading something about skipping the Duelist Kingdom arc and going straight into either Battle City and Battle Ship or the Memory World arc.) Makes me appreciate the fact I've been buying the french version which is almost done. (Vol. 36 out of 38..T_T) I never did like the KC Grand Prix story. =X And now that I think about it more, didn't they say Yu-Gi-Oh! GX was airing soon? 100yrsinthefuture...bloodyhell(early '06?) I mean both the KC Grand Prix and the Memory Arc take up a whole ton of episodes...Why not cut out the KCGP instead?

In SJ they skipped the DK and BC parts to get to Millennium World. They did this because everyone saw the anime parts and the popularity of YGO may be waning.
This is a good move as it allows other series to be in the magazine.

The episode aired today. We didn't get it yet in England but here's what I know:
As usual, they've replaced all original music with crap but the video for the theme song is their best yet. They will be airing the memory arc, or at least some of it, as parts appeared in the theme song. Mask The Rock's new name is Grandpa Moto backwards. Vivian and Leon's voices are ok. Seigfreids's is horrendous, as is that boy in the first two episodes.

I taped it this morning, and well, yeah. They're going to butcher it. *groans in agony*

Yeah, Ryu was right, the new opening for the dub YGO includes bits of Memory World, so may be presented, though hopefully, it will not get butchered badly.
On a reviewing note of the episodes that aired:
-apparently, Apdnarg Otum is a better name than Mask the Rock -Siegfried's dub voice, while a bit annoying, at least acknowledges that he is German (Europeanish accent with random German words thrown in -even though 4Kids actually took the liberty to say that the KC Grand Prix Championship is an international tournament (actually, they said that the contestants were selected from all over the world), it is still wrong to name specific countries (calling Rebecca the Regional champion instead of the American champion) -apparently, Australia and the southwestern US are the same thing (they called an Australian a cowboy)
Strange, where did you here that? According to the 4Kids GX site, they just say "years in the future". If the dub does take place about a century later, they are going to have a problem, seeing that Judai actually meets Yugi in the first episode, and Kaiba makes a few appearances, too....

It is. Not by much, admittedly, but "Mask the Rock" doesn't even make sense...

Mask The Rock is a pun on Mask The Roku. Roku means 6 and Sugoroku (Yuugi's grandpa) means Double 6. Also, Mask The Rock's deck is a pretty ancient theme deck, with quite a few rock monsters. In conclusion, Apdnarg Otum is a stupid name.
Apparently, this dub episode is full of computer puns because 4kids think "Th3Y iZ W177y". Their dub of the Memory Arc should be good for a laugh:
"Hey Joey, Mahado's dead!" "I just farted!"

I just had another thought, though it may be wishful thinking. Since some of the Egyptian Arc scenes have been spliced into the opening of Grand Championship, could it mean that they will just tack it on to the end of this one, like they did earlier with the "Escape from the Virtual World" right in the middle of "Enter the Shadow Realm"? I may have that wrong. *too lazy to check* There aren't too many episodes for 4crap..er 4kids to do this.

Like I said earlier, on 4kids' Yu-Gi-Oh forum, it says that the Egypt memory arc will be condensed into 2 episodes at the end of the series after "Grand Championship".

Yeah, I know. I was just desperately hoping it was a typo.
