Thoughts on episode 3: DAMN IT! They didn't show the moment of contact!!!! And here I was watching while saying, "Do it! Do it!"  .
Yeah I was fan-girling over it hoping they show it.XD
But I didn't see the first 2 eppys sadly so I think the voices they choosed to do the dub with are pretty great so far.
Kakashi's is a little too deep maybe?I don't know.I was kind fan-girling over him too X3 |

I completely missed the episode. I saw it last week, and thought it was good.
But I had heard about the whole "no, they're not showing the kiss" thing. Because it would mentally scar little kids/turn them gay.
So people are happy because it wasn't butchered. I'm happy because it didn't turn out like Tokyo Mew Mew's dub. Which is basically the same thing.

;-; I was at my brother's birthday party, so I missed like, the first few minutes...
I came in when...what was her name...Ino? The blonde girl, got assigned to the group with Shikamaru and that one dude who's name I forgot. ^^; My family is incredibly loud so it was kinda hard to hear...
Anyway, I really, REALLY enjoyed it. I think I like the anime more than the manga. I was..laughing. Alot. xD It was just..so..funny. SASUKE! *_* ...I'm officially a Sasuke fangirl. o_o; He's so cute. X3 Squee~ :3 I liked his and Sakura's voices. I have no complaints, Naruto's voice is even getting better I think. ^^
Eh...so they cut out the kiss. Doesn't really matter to me. Yaoi is fine, but i don't zOMG over it. ..>>; I'm also a pretty big NarutoxSakura fan.
..Oh! I remember seeing Hinata...I never really got to her in the manga. o_o She's cute~ X3
Um..yeah. So that's Shikamaru? X3 He's my friend. Yeah...really good episode. I hope it comes on again tonight..if not i'll catch it later on in the week. X3 Awesomeness though, i'm really starting to like Naruto alot more~! :D

I am so glad we got cable when we did. Naruto is the one thing that's helping to fill the gaping pit Mankin left in me.
I am quite happy with the dub, though I don't have the original to compare with. I love Sasuke and Kakashi's voices!

I remembered that I had the first 4 episodes on my computer. So heres a little breakdown of the edits that picked up between the dub and the orginal, In case anyone's interested ^_^ (Oh, and this is excluding any edits to the script which may invlove cursing, since thats more subjective, and the cut opening and ending). Ep 1: -- Iruka's nosebleed edited in reaction to "Sexy Jutsu" -- Iruka coughing up blood on Naruto after having a giant shuriken lodged in his back, edited. -- Blood around Mizuki's beaten face near the end wiped clean. Ep. 2 -- Hokage's reaction to Sexy Jutsu, yadda yadda yadda.... -- Same thing with Ebisu... Ep. 3 -- Naruto x Sasuke kiss segment. (and for the record, the sound effect IS in both the dub and original) -- Some cut out camera angles in Naruto's dihareaa sequences, in both the middle and end of the episode. So lets see... In the Naruto dubs FIRST THREE episodes, there are a COMBINED TOTAL of 7 EDITS. Now, to put that in perspective, the FIRST EPISODE of the 4Kids One Piece, had nearly 25 EDITS, and thats ONE episode!  Anyways, theres anything that I missed, don't hesitate to add. The average would still amount to less than 2 - 3 per episode! *gives Viz another round of applause* |

I think the one thing about Naruto that drove me crazy was...hm...how to describe it... I didn't really like how when Person I was talking about Person II, Person II's image was laid kinda transparent over the screen. (They did that so many times!) Do you know what I mean?

So yeah,7 edits for the first three eppys is a hell lot better then One Piece and Shaman king did.

In a way,if Viz got the rights to Shaman King and One Piece before 4crap did,I wonder if they would have did a better job with it because it seems that Viz is doing something right with Naruto's dub while every other Shonen Jump show that has been showed in it's English dub is very awful in some cases.Okay enough rants....

Okay gang, episode 4....
Oh, whats this? ONLY 2 EDITS!? Both of which only involve blood!? And they actually kept Kakashi's "1000 Years of Pain" attack!?
--Spurt of blood from when one of Naruto's clones punched another one being held by Naruto, thinking that it was Kakashi, cleaned up in the dub.
--Ending moment from when Kakashi falls back after being hit by Sasuke's shuriken, another blood-clean-up job.
So lets see...thats one DVDs worth of episodes (Viz planned to release edited version 4 episodes to a disc) with a TOTAL COUNT of 9 edits (excluding dialog, and openings/endings)
Now, one DVDs worth of One Piece episodes... approxametaly 76 edits, changes and whatnot!
Damn, and the One Piece DVDs CONTAIN ONE LESS episode!
BELIEVE IT!!! *shot*

A fansub called it "1000 years of pain", when the manga first came out by SJ, it was called "1000 years of death". I knew that it was one or the other. But when I said that they did'nt edit it, I meant that they kept the general scene of Kakashi ramming his fingers up Naruto's ass. Regardless, I think that Viz is still doing a decent job at keeping their edits to a minimum. |
