I saw this on one of those evening news shows last night. I can't remember which one though... Warner Bros. has gone insane I think. They have decided to redesign Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes. Trying to find a picture took me a while. Article from losangeles.bizjournals.com/losangeles/stories/2005/02/14/daily29.htmlBugs and Daffy head to the future Warner Bros. is giving some of its most venerable stars a touch up.
According to reports in the Wall Street Journal, the studio plans to launch a new cartoon, "Loonatics," featuring futuristic, "re-imagined" versions of the classic Looney Tunes characters.
The cartoon will be set in the year 2772, and the characters will be on a spaceship, where they will be crime fighters, with each character having a special crime-fighting ability, the newspaper reports.
Although the roles and the names, such as "Buzz Bunny," will change, the new characters will retain personality quirks of their old-school counterparts. According to the Wall Street Journal, the cartoon is Warner Bros.' way to bring a classic franchise into the awareness of younger viewers, putting the characters in a frame that they better understand.
According to the Journal, the original Looney Tunes will not be sent into "retirement" with the new cartoon. Instead, it is meant to compliment the original series of cartoons, especially in light of the last major project involving the original Looney Tunes, the box-office dud "Looney Tunes: Back in Action."
The Warner Bros. division is a segment of Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. of Burbank. The company is a subsidiary of Time Warner Inc. (NYSE: TWX)

Okay, what the f*** is that?!
No, that's just too wrong! Bugs Bunny looks like he made a pact with Satan and became Beelzebub Bunny. That thing looks so evil.
What in the name of Hell ever poessed them to do that? You just don't do that to classic characters! These guys have been around since 1933, and they're still popular. Why change them? Or better yet, why change them to look like they have come from the Circles of Hell?
I hope that the new show gets abysmal ratings and that they kill the Evil-Looney Tunes. That rabbit scares the crap outta me.
I'm going to go crawl into a corner and weep for humanity now...

*Joins Lovely and Ryufan* Somehow crime fighting just doesn't seem to be an option for me. Loony Tunes was a classic and you just can't revamp the classics without taking away that little thing that made them special. So what if there aren't any new episodes of them being made. It's those old episodes that you can watch over and over again and never get bored with them.

That's bizzarro Bugs. That should be relegated to a one-shot. One shouldn't make a new series around that.

To be fair, there is a slight possibility the article MAY be a little off. Who knows, the series may end up as a sort of spin off series ala' Loony Tunes. Remember "Babs" and "Buster" had similar names to "Bugs" too.
In other news... Duck Dodgers is kind of boring ^^; . That, or I just don't have interest in that sort of humor anymore...

I think it's more or less a sort of "spin-off" if you read the article. They aren't shelving the old Looney Tunes shows or characters from way back...they are making a new show with a new design for today. Although, when I first saw this I thought that maybe they were just going to do an updated design with a new voice, I didn't really expect something THIS extreme. I think it's a bad idea....but who knows...guess we'll have to wait and see...

Yeah, I think it's a bad idea too. I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if he didn't look so scary. I'm very frightened to find out what they are going to do the other ones...

I showed my mother the pic of Bugs' new look last night and she was like, Mother: *blinks* o.O *shakes head and walks away* And she really did blink. Seriously, the new look for Bugs scares me. He doesn't even look remotely like a superhero. He looks more like a villian. What I don't get is this article's statement, "According to the Wall Street Journal, the cartoon is Warner Bros.' way to bring a classic franchise into the awareness of younger viewers, putting the characters in a frame that they better understand. " I grew up as a kid watching Looney Tunes and even in the '80s the animation and stuff of Looney Tune cartoons was considered to be "outdated", but I still loved them and enjoy watching them even now. Looney Tunes doesn't need to be re-introduced or anything like that for the kids of today. Hasn't Warner Bros. ever heard of something called a "timeless classic"?
I'm all for re-makes and stuff, but only if it's done properly and this isn't done properly. There are some things you just don't touch and Looney Tunes is one of them. Now if they were going to produce a new cartoon about the Looney Tunes crimefighting while still keeping the original character designs, I wouldn't have minded so much. Heck, I might've been even semi-interested in it, but this is too much. They've taken poor Bugs and mutilated him and you can tell from the pic alone that they're going to screw around with his personality. Sometimes I weep for humanity and this is one of those times.

Well, obviously, this is creating quite a stir among old fans. Everyone is curious, and thus, will likily watch the show. Not to mention the little kiddies who will watch it, because they are kids, already WB has some audience.
I am actually pretty interested in this, I do not see it as "The new looney toons" but rather a spoof, or, sort of, a new version of the same characters. Try thinking of Megaman.
The original Megaman series was great in my opinion, but, then it sort of fizzled out apparently. (I did not play MM games until recently) But, then X came along. Set in the future, X became almost a completely different series, with only small storyline ties, and basic gameplay mechanics. Then the EXE series came around, and a whole new generation of fans came along, not to mention fans of the two (3 is you cound MM64/legends) previous series. Then you even have MMZero, which is like "the next X" and sports completely stylized art.
Some of my favourite art on Deviantart is done by a artist known as Bleedman. He (I assume, Ive never checked) draws a bunch of cartoon characters in his own manga-ish style. I do not see anyone complaining as his Powerpuff comic is insanely popular.
Now, I know because Looney Toons are classic, they almost have a "too Holy to touch" quality, but, would you rather they do a spin off like this, or try to modernize their personalities with their current design.
After all that.... I do dearly miss Animaniacs ;_;. Not to mention Pinky and the Brain, and yes, even Pinky Elmira and the Brain (many I have talked to didnt like that incarnation XD)
Anyways, I think this series will definatly be one to watch.

The character designs were much better, like Rockman's tuft of hair from the back of his helmet, Blues' horned helmet and long hair, Roll had a major change for the better, and so on...
