If it's anything like the game, SIGN ME UP!!
The game is like an uncut anime on it's own!!
Can't wait!! Although it's probably gonna be on CN so I won't get to see it. Sucks!!

Well, it's gonna be based on the first game (aww, drats... I was hoping they might go into the second game as well).
It starts in Japan in January, so I wouldn't expect it here until at least fall 2005, and I doubt it would be on TV... Although if the gap between Episodes 2 and 3 are anything like the gap between Episodes 1 and 2, they might push the US release further back, to build the hype up during the lull between the games.
**sigh** chaos-sama...

I'm still kind of early in the game and I must say. This is like watching an uncut anime. This game should almost be rated M for some of the content I have witnessed in the first 15 hours of playing!!!
Some of the gore and scenes of death made me freak out!!!
spoiler*****They almost completely show commander Cherenkov killing a little girl. I nearly shouted " WHAT THE HELL!!!! HE KILLED A LITTLE GIRL!!!" This game pulls no punches!!!
I can't wait to play it again, but I can't when my son is awake. Don't want to scar the little guy or anything. Plus my wife has seen some of it and she would kill me if she knew I let him watch me play that!!!

Technically... the game WAS edited for the U.S release a bit...
(just one scene, and the scene was still disturbing anyways 0_o . heh.)
Oh, but I love Xenosaga, mostly because of my LOVE for Xenogears. To anyone who ever plays Xenosaga: The first hour or two is boring as heck but after that, it gets REALLY interesting ^_^ . The music (well... the lack of music actually) is one of the games main faults.
Woops, this thread is about the upcoming anime. Erm... yay ^_^; . Actually Toei recently made a deal with Geneon so the possiblity of us getting this is actually pretty good. That is, unless Namco decides to be difficult.

I'm sure they had to do a little tweaking with the dialouge and some scenes, but idf they left the escene I posted earlier, than I can't wait to see what they had to edit.
I will be waiting for the anime.

i found the story cinematics too long >< its like...your sitting there on the couch with the controller in your hand waiting for the cinematic to end..crazy...>< As for it becoming an anime, It could be good ^^;;, lets just hope it doesnt turn out like sonic X *cringes* >< I know this isnt about the anime coming but...I found this in a game magazine i got...and well..seems kinda weird.. ...I havent played Xenogears though..oh well: " Xenosaga is part of the same series, sorta, that the classic PS1 RPG Xenogears started. It's weird--- Xenogears is episode five, while 'Saga is, obviously, episode one. Want to be even more confused? The series' creator said that with Xenosaga he was 'hitting the Reset button' on the series in order to tell a more coherent story. So what'll happen when the fifth game comes around? Only time will tell..." This confused me..T_T and I was having a happy day when I read it too ><...although...I dont see part 5 coming around the corner any time soon...^^ and Lovely, please dont shoot me...

and Lovely, please dont shoot me... hee hee ^_^ . *cough* Moving on... Yeah, the cinematics are long, but... to be honest, I play RPG's more for the story anyways, so I didn't mind. Also, in a lot of RPG's you tend to go through a lot of "reading the story" moments. So, with Xenosaga, I just thought of it as advancing the story for me without reading ^^; . Yeah... I had to rationlize it XD . Yeah, the whole "It's a prequel... but NOT REALLY *wink wink*" thing is weird, but I can understand, they don't want to be sued *laughs*. Oh, and anyone who hasn't played Xenogears-- FIND IT AND PLAY IT. It's actually my favorite RPG (warning though, some people don't like it because the majority of the second disk you spend reading instead of playing.) Even so, this game had a GREAT story. Made me cry, made me freak out, made me go back and replay it about 5 times. Fun stuff .

Yeah, the whole "It's a prequel... but NOT REALLY *wink wink*" thing is weird, but I can understand, they don't want to be sued *laughs*. For those of you who still don't get it... Xenogears is a PSX, made by Square. It was originally meant to be part 5 of a 6 part story (it says so at the end). However, Square decided that FF7 was more important than Xenogears (which is why I hate FF games now), so they cut the budget, which resulted in a crappy second disc. However, the guys that made the game for Square still published a book called "Perfect Works," which has a timeline of the original story that was supposed to be (as well as a bunch of stuff that the budget cut took out of the game). Flash forward about 5 years. The guys who made the game have started their own company called "Monolith Software", and they got together with Namco. Namco says "yeah, we'll give you 4 games, all 6 if they do really well." Well, in these 5 years, the story's evolved a bit. So "Episode 1" of Xenosaga is technically the prequel to Xenogears, but what's officially been announced is that the Xenogears story, in some form or another, will be in the Xenosaga storyline, but that Xenogears itself is NOT Xenosaga episode 5. One current theory is that Episodes 1, 2, and 3 of Xenosaga will take place in the 'current' story (Episode 1 of Xenosaga takes place BEFORE where episode 1 of Xenogears was supposed to start, and Episode 2 continues directly, but doesn't finish the story), and Episodes 4, 5, and 6 will take place where Xenogears 6 was supposed to take place (which had no information in Perfect Works). That way, those who want to can say that Xenogears is part of Xenosaga, and those that don't can say it's not. Correction: Find it, play the first disc, read an FAQ to find out what happens between the end of the first disc and the final dungeon, then steal someone's save file from the end of the game to finish it. You REALLY don't want to sit through the HOURS of 'character sits infront of screen, while annoying pendant swings back and forth and text tells you what happened'... and if you die before you can save, and have to REWATCH all of it... ((loves Xenogears, hates the 2nd disc)) Anywho... official site for the anime: www.toei-anim.co.jp/tv/xenosaga/The images are from Xenosaga Freaks, so we can't tell if it's 2D or 3D animation yet. As for the imfamous edited scene... SPOILERS This is the imfamous 3 edited scenes. One was made WORSE in the US version, the other two were made 'better' in the US version. Scene 1- Albedo creeping out MOMO. In the original, when he cuts off his arm/head, you see the knife. This was taken out of the US version, and it looks like he's RIPPING it off. Then, when his decapitated head is talking to her, the shadows cover it in the original. In the US version, there are no shadows, and you can see the whole thing. Scene 2- The 'rape' scene. In the original, when Albedo is searching for the Y-Data within MOMO, he STICKS HIS HAND INTO HER. He also has a very SICK AND TWISTED LOOK ON HIS FACE. Basically, he is raping her mind looking for the information, and is doing it by groping her insides... I've seen the original, and it's very disturbing. In the US version, his hand is hovering over her face while he searches for the information... he still has the sick look on his face, though. Scene 3- umm... gomen, I don't remember... but it's in the same set as the first two... I think it's more of Albedo scaring MOMO, and killing the Kirshwazers, but I really don't remember the details.I hope they use the same seiyuu for the anime, though. Souichiro Hoshi-sama does a GREAT chaos-sama.

I must say.. I saw a trailer for episode two and is it just me or does KOS-MOS look way more adult?
Perhaps it's something that happens later in the first game, but I was blown away when I saw how they have actually improved on the graphics.
I am definetly getting part two immediatly. I was skeptical of this game. I went for .hack first no regrets though.
That story blew me away as well. I just wished I picked up this game sooner.
And Dessa. I agree with you about chaos. I love how he can be so mysterious and intelligent. He is my favorite character next to Jr.
I just love his attitude!!!

One of the things that I love about the Xenosaga series is that it has equal opertunity fanservice. Someone for every fetish! *laughs* (I'm a Chaos and Jr. Fan too by the way ^_^ . Ooh, but I like Gaigun too ;D . And I like Jin for the sole reason that he looks like Citan, who was wicked cool XD .) *cough* Moving on, they just redesigned the characters for Xenosaga II, it supposedly takes place IMEDIATELY after the events of Xenosaga I. Here's the official U.S site. I haven't really had a chance to look through it myself by the by. The soundtrack for the movie scenes for Xeno2 is done by my favorite composer Yuki Kajiura ^__^ .

Horohoro- Part of it comes from what happens at teh end of the game, part of it is the redesign for episode 2. If you can find any of the images floating around of the characters BEFORE they get their new outfits (there are some of at least chaos, Jr., MOMO, and Shion), they do look slightly older, but not as much as in the new character designs.
Of course, then there's the swimsuit skill that you can get in Episode II as well. **shudders at memories of the "swimsuit Rondo" images she saw** Of course, with KOS-MOS, 'swimsuit' translates better into 'nearly nude'. blech **will still use chaos' swimsuit**
Oh, and I just reached the WONDERFUL area that is the Cathedral Ship, and if you're disturbed by what you see there, you're not gonna handle the rest of the game... trust me... that's TAME for later...
Lovely- if you have the first .hack OST (which I'm assuming you do), try playing the track 'Fear' during the second to last area (too lazy to spoiler the title), and play 'Aura' during the cut scenes (especially the ones I spoilered earler). It's very creepy, and gives you a good idea of what to expect for Episode II.
My boyfriend's gonna cosplay as Citan for Sakura-Con 2005, if I can finish the costume (I'm going as chaos. Last year we had a chaos and a KOS-MOS... and chaos was our local GameStop's X-BOX rep...). So's one of my students... She's actually mad that she won't be the only Citan (we have a Billy and a Bart, too).
mmm... chaos-sama... I will admit, I was very bad. I went and looked up spoilers for episode 2... they involve chaos... mmmm.... **drool**
[edit- there we go... fixed the siggy]
[edit 2- Lovely-sama, can I use your "equal opportunity fan service" in my siggy?]

I won't put my hopes up too high about it though, thats always a set-up for dissapointment ^^;. Oh, by the by, I have the Movie soundtrack for Xenosaga II too ^_^ . Speaking of spoilers... I avoid them like the plauge. Normally, I avoid threads for a game until I've actually played and finished 'em . *laughs* [edit 2- Lovely-sama, can I use your "equal opportunity fan service" in my siggy?] Sure ^__^ !
