I have a confession to make. I held off on Xenosaga for a long while because I knew I would be dissappointed. I knew that what I would want for a Xenogears follow up couldn't possibly be done. Hell I had a dream I was playing a Xenogears II demo, and I adapted that into an non-Xeno fiction peice. Kinda. Well eventually I got it. And it was neat. But I did have some problems with it. To much cutscene. Damn it it's nice to actually play a game. AGWS suck compared Gears. Hell the fact you could use giant robots is what attracted me to Xenogears in the first place. No World Map. It's short and incomplete.
Other than those problems it's great. Something that I said outloud once while Albedo was onscreen was "Let's see you regenerate, when theres nothing left to regenerate from"
Saw a trailer for Episode II online about six months back. Looks incredible, but the trailer has a huge spoiler for Albedo, so watch out.

Great talking about this has got me all fired up. Now I either have to beat Xenogears for the 400th time, or watch the last ten minutes of Transformers the Movie.

Ghostgodzilla- you do realize that Xenogears was even MORE incomplete than Xenosaga Episode 1, correct?
With Xenogears, you're missing the first 4 parts of a story, plus the last part, and it's NEVER GOING TO BE FINISHED>
With Xenosaga, you've seen the first part of a 6 part story, with Episode 2 coming out in February, and a guarantee on at least 2 more parts. That means, WHEN IT'S FINISHED you will have at least 4 out of 6 parts of the complete story, vs. 1 of 6.
Also, what good is a World Map when you're not on a World? I would've liked to see the original corner map that was shown on the original trailers, but there must've been a good reason Monolith removed it.
AGWS suck, period. I don't use them. I see no need... But, I think that it's an improvement over 'Gears that you actually get the CHOICE to use or not to use the mechs. There's a reason I used Chu Chu a lot in 'Gears... I didn't want to be FORCED to use the mechs.
Actually, my theory is that the scene in the trailers with Albedo are not spoilers. After all, you're told in the first game that something will happen (which is probably what the video is of), and you don't know where in the game it's coming from.
Lovely- I didn't realize his comment either, when I first played the game. Oh, and have you played Star Ocean 3? CF does Albel's voice EXACTLY like Albedo's ((heheheheh... and you can change you're party member's names, too... and one of Albel's alternate outfits has white hari...)). In fact, Derek Stephen Prince (chaos) seems to be the only Xenosaga cast member missing from SO3.
Rubedo-sama- I'm glad you're enjoying it. I'm enjoying my new giffy.
chaos: sure, rub it in...
And, just for fun, the exact quote from the game ((note that parts of this are my start up and shutdown sounds)):
Like I said "birds fly, fish swim, I destroy gnosis by touching them"

I KNEW I'd heard that creepy tone before!
I say Xenogears is more compleate because as a story it has a beggining and an end. Everything set up in the game is resolved. Xenosaga deliberetly stopped halfway through the story.
I just like to be able to wonder more. Also it seems like most games with world maps have way more areas. I'm fairly sure that in Xenogears you can count the areas without running out of fingers. To be fair however most of those areas are very large.
Guess it depends on wether or not you like giant robots. I will admit that the difficulty for healing them, and the fuel requirement hurt the Gears. On the otherhand, they seem to be back...
I counted the Albedo thing for people who haven't seen the trailer. In all honesty seeing something like that didn't surprise me much, as it has been set up for.

Oh, and it makes sense that the dubs use the same vocal cast. They are dubbed by the same company, ANIMAZE ^_^ ! I love that studio. They've been working on mostly video games lately. I actually agree with this. I miss the old days of not being greedy and ending a game with a conclusion >_< . I could forgive this whith the .hack series, but with Xenosaga... I don't know, I'm just hoping this "TO BE CONTINUED" thing doesn't become a trend. Basically I think the ending to Xeno1 was just too abrupt. EDIT: The no music thing is reeeeeaaaaly getting on my nerves the second time through . I need to find the director of this game and hit him for making that decision... Concerning the card game... I know how to play it now! I really suck... but I have the knowledge on how to play it XD .

I love that studio as well (which is why I'm still on the fence about the Suiko 4 voices, since while the ones in the demo were so-so, it IS Animaze...). But do be prepared to get annoyed in SO3 with Shi-er, I mean "Clair", who sounds EXACTLY like Shion, and you'll really hate the Aqua.... umm... these stupid ice monsters who we started refering to as "Shion-monsters." Oh, and the "big, tough guy" in SO3 is Allen (Dave Wittenberg).

By the way if anyone gets stuck in Star Ocean 3, ask me and I'll give you some tips. I had to get rid of my inital game because I got stuck, replayed it on easy, then replayed again on medium. Because of some of the things I learned I was able to easily pass the area I was stuck at before, and a lower level to boot!

Hey, good news for you Jr., According to a review at rpgfan.com, Xenosaga II focuses pretty heavily on Rubido. Unfortunately, it seems that it doesn't focus much on the other characters :/ . Darn it Monolith, quit ending your games as "to be continued" !
Please no spoilers beyond this everybody ^^; . (for my own sake.)

I see you are addicted to Xenocard now Lovely. Let me know how cool the Lv.10 KOS-MOS card is if you get it. I wanted it for my deck so badly.

Yep, now that I finally understand how the game works, it's really, REALLY fun ^_^ ! I've even managed to win a match or two (still lose most of the time though ^^;.) In fact, I'm having SO much fun with Xenocard that I haven't advanced in the ACTUAL game of Xenosaga at all lately ^_^; . Haven't seen the KOS-MOS card yet though. I don't even have her Level 1 card ^^; . I currently want a level10 Shion card, mostly because of the effect it would have on the level 1 Shion card.

I believe according to the FAQ I read Lv.10 KOS-MOS is located in the forest area of the Encephalon.
I won my first tournament last night. I use a deck comprised mainly of cards designed to make your opponent draw more cards. I use Waste Money's and Matthew's cards which make both players draw each turn. I take some early shots at my opponents deck with my Lv.1 Shion and KOS-MOS cards and when I draw my Lv.10 Shion I swap. Then I just throw Realians in the way of my opponent defending Shion KOS-MOS and my deck.
Yeah I sound kinda like LT. Virgil from the beginning of the game, but hey I won the tournament.
I'm trying to get the last two rare packs that are prizes. You don't know what you get in a tourney until you win. All I got are card packs.
Want to get a complete set of cards, just play in the casino. I played poker like crazy and traded my coins for card packs, in a little less than half an hour, I had three of every non-rare card in the game. That helped me out a lot.

Well, I finished the game and I must say I was disappointed. The ending was great and all, but I was suprised it ended so quickly.
80hrs. of gameplay? I stopped to play cards for a week and I still finished the game in under 60.
I must admit that Albedo and whatever that thing was after Albedo were pretty easy........... no match for me heheheh *tries to hide the Erde Kaiser
Okay I took the easy way out and just wittled the bosses hp to under 9999 so Shion could just blast them with the Erde Kaiser! It's there and it's easy.

Actually, Sophia Pethios isn't all that hard without Erde Kaiser (I didn't use it the first time through... but whenever I want to re-watch the ending, I pull up that file and pluck Erde Kaiser on... chaos uses Boost 1 on Shion, bang, Albedo's gone...).
Here's my setup:
Team: Shion, KOS-MOS, chaos.
Ethers: Shion- Boost 1, and her most powerful healing ethers (Medica All, Medica Rest, Revert) KOS-MOS- Boost 1 (transferred from Shion) and Ether Limit chaos- Boost 1 (transferred from Shion), Medica All (transferred from Shion), Ether Limit (transferred from KOS-MOS), Purifying Storm, Supreme Judgement (for vs. Albedo), and Light and Wings
Tech Attacks: Shion- Rain Blade, Far/High (ignore close techs) KOS-MOS- X-Buster, Far/High, Far/Far/Low choas- Angel Blow, Far/High, Far/Far/High
Skills/Accessories: All- CRTC Guard or Trauma Plate, KO Guard or Defibrillator Vest Shion- Scope or Search Eyes and Ether Defense up Items/skills KOS-MOS- Boost Pack or Battle BC + 1, W Special or Double Buster, AP + 1 or Commander's Crest (I didn't have this, but it's very useful) chaos- Same as KOS-MOS
First, use Boost 1 on everyone so that their boost gage is at 2. Then, have everyone whittle Sophia Pethios down to visible HP. Once you get to this point, BE CAREFUL! Follow the next instructions, and you should have no problems: 1) Get everyone to Boost Gage Level 3. Make sure KOS-MOS is NOT in your battle preview (the thing that says who's coming next). 2) If Shion's up, have her heal if needed, if not, have her cast Boost 1 on someone. If everyone is at max boost (3), then have her attack. 3) If chaos is up, have him cast Boost 1 on someone. If everyone is at max, have him guard. If his AP is at max, have him cast Ether Limit. Then, his following turn, use T O O (via Double Buster/W Special), then, if possible, use T O the next turn. Use chaos to heal if needed, as well. 4) If KOS-MOS is up, have her first guard, then cast Ether Limit, then attack with T O O (via Double Buster/W Special). The next turn, use T O (if you have AC +1 or the Commander's Crest, you should be able to do the Ether Limit -> T O O -> T O every set without guarding). Repeat cycle as needed. 5) When KOS-MOS is up, boost Shion or chaos to go next. When one of them is up, boost KOS-MOS to go next (this is why casting Boost 1 is so important).
If you do it right, Sophia Pethios won't be able to attack at all (if it does, you've blocked it's chances for Critical and Instant KO hits), and you'll beat it easily.
Albedo's not that hard, just keep using Purifying Storm to keep his recovery down.
oh, Rubedo-sama... I like your new sprite, but I still think the one I made is cuter.

Thanks Dessa. Ashil actually found the gif while he was wandering about the net. I'm suprised he found it. I was searching for hours on google with no gifs being found.
My party at first was Shion, Jr., KOS-MOS until I was preparing for the Song of Nephilim and I decided to take Ziggy, chaos, and MOMO into the E.V.S. simulator to level up. When chaos started rolling his arctic blast he got promoted to my active roster and I benched KOS-MOS. Her X Buster just wasn't pulling off the damage I thought it should.
However, when I reached Proto Mekaberrah, Arctic Blast wasn't doing squat to the flying devil looking Gnosis. I think they're called gargoyles or something. I swapped chaos out and KOS-MOS back in and finished with my original threesome.
I was really disappointed with Ziggy. He was far too weak for being a cyborg. My list of characters by usefulness goes like this:
1. Shion (Erde Kaiser. nuf said!) 2. Jr. (I'm not really obsessed with him *starts shifting eyes) 3. chaos (while I didn't use him in the end, he had some of the most useful ethers. Like the one that cures everyone of status ailments and Best Ally. Any ether that automatically brings your allies back from the dead is awesome!!) 4. KOS-MOS (She just rocks! Not very useful in the ether department, but she rules in brute force!!) 5. MOMO (She just beats Ziggy in everything but HP) 6. Ziggy (Because there's no one left!)
By the way, I never found MOMO's transformation ethers. I'm not starting over now, since I don't think I would finish before episode 2 is released, but for the future, could you let me know where they reside Dessa? Thanks!
