Yeppers, Lovely owns this game now ^_^ . I'm having fun, but... I'm currently sad that I didn't choose "normal" mode. Why I chose "easy" mode: 1. Well, I didn't want a repeat of the Star Ocean 2 fiasco... that is, me... being unable to finish Star Ocean 2 at the end no matter HOW much I leveled up. Thereby leading me to trade in that game which wasn't really all that much fun anyways *is bitter* 2. "Battle Trophies" can only be obtained from "normal" and harder modes. I was told by the game that trophies were just used to earn the harder battle levels, and honestly, I didn't care about having harder levels. BUT.... WHY is Lovely sad? Apparently, the trophies could of been used to give my characters alternate costumes. I LOVE alternate costumes. I am sad now ... ANYhoo, the game is pretty fun so far (I'm about 8 or so hours in). And some of the voices I REALLY like (Crispin Freeman ^///^ ! Sherry Lyn!). Of course there are a few I don't like, a character named "Mirage" and a couple of the background people. I think this is mostly due to bad direction though. Another REALLY anoying thing is that the person in charge of sound in this game apparently had NO idea what he was doing >_< . Many of the voices are at the wrong audio level and sound WAY to soft and muffled one minute and then normal the next. VERY annoying. The sound crew should be beaten -_- . As with many games with a sci-fi element, I often find myself lost and bored when they get into the techno-babble talk, but thankfully it's spread out. Ooh! Another nifty feature in the game is a HUGE dictionary function where you could look pretty much all the game terms up. Pretty cool, but even I haven't gone through most of it (and it gets more entries as you play.) The graphics are gorgeous, the towns are frikin' huge, and the character designs are cute ^_^ . Um, well, that's all I have to say really, except.. for those who have played the game... please don't spoil me ^^;;; .

If you complete the Aquatic Gardens of Surferio optional dungeon (I completed it with ease at about level 23... it's by Aquios), you can get the Paraclease Table, which lets you play the battle mode. You can get the alternate costumes for that, even on Easy Mode (I think... you might be better off just restarting).
Lovely, you should have fun with the dictionary, as there are references to the first two games in it.
I should go back and get more Battle Trophies, so I can get the 4P costumes... or maybe I'll just go back to Suikoden IV...
chaos: That thing's not coming out of your PS2 until you beat it, is it?

*pppst* I have a secret... I ended up HATING Star Ocean 2 because of the... "incident" (see first post). I hardly remember what happened in the second game ^^;;;.. . It's been a loooong time, and I've been bitter for that whole time, so ^^; .... I never played the first game though.

Well, I forgot to mention the battle system to the rest of you all. Um... it's fun. It's really fast, 3-d, real time, fighting. Not "traditional" rpg battles by any stretch of the imagination, but... it's still fun. Seriously, it's fast. Fayt runs like the wind ^^; .

Stop saying such cool stuff about that game!! Curse you Best Buy. Why do you have 30 copies of a startegy guide for a game you don't even have in stock!! >_<

A few hints to save you from much screaming agony, Lovely, with no story spoilers. First, if you make the Battle trophy data in a new save game, then compleated a requirement in another save file, you still get the trophy. How does this help you? Some of the hidden dungions will reset to medium while your in them during your easy game. A good stratagy with Fayt is to make all his specal slots the Side Kick move, and just cancel bonus it as much as possible. 99% of the time this will make battles much easier. Don't spend too much time or money on item creation until you find the items that boost success and the more talented inventors. Once you do, however try this. Make a shell saphire with alchemy, then sythise it to a weapon for one of your main melee fighters. This will give the weapon an absurdly high chance of freezing any non boss enemy. And I have now doubt that if you don't understand the power of the freezing status effect you will...

Heheheh... here's something interesting about Roger, actually... I'll show you by comparing him to one aspect of all the other characters. MILD SPOILERS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW VAGUE DESCRIPTIONS OF WHEN THE CHARACTERS ARE IN YOUR PARTY
Fayt- Main character, you start with him, he's always in your party. Sophia- In your party at the very beginning of the game, you'll get her back at the start of Chapter 4. Cliff- Joins your party early in the game, he stays with you for the rest of the game. Maria- Joins your party near the start of Chapter 3, with you for the rest of the game. Mirage- Joins your party in Chapter 5 (Japanese Director's Cut and US versions only). Adlay- Joins your party in Chapter 2 or 3 (optional, leaves at end of chapter 3), and again in Chapter 5 (Japanese Director's Cut and US versions only).
These next four are optional characters. Up to two will join you, the other two will not. Nel- Joins your party in Chapter 2; default 7th party member to join in Chapter 4, or optional 8th party member in Chapter 5. Albel- Joins your party in Chapter 3; possible 7th party member to join in Chapter 4, or optional 8th party member in Chapter 5. Peppita- In your party near the very beginning of the game, joins your party in Chapter 4; can become 8th party member (Note: she is the only of the optional characters who CANNOT be the 7th character. You will always have 5 characters when she joins (the other two join in Chapter 5), however, recruiting her means that you can't do the PAs to get the other optional characters as your 8th).
And then there's Roger... Now, Roger CAN join your party during Chapter 2, if you choose. After that, he can be your 7th party member, or your 8th party member. However, if you don't go to the area where he's waiting in Chapter 2, you can never recruit him. In fact, except for the bonus dungeons, you will never even meet him in the entire game... HOWEVER, he does get a special ending if you don't ever meet him. *When you meet him in the game, you have to rescue him from a cage he's in. After you rescue him, you get the option of allowing him to "help you" or not (if you refuse, he will never join your party). However, if you never go to the area he's in, at the end of the game, you'll see a short video of him, STILL IN THE CAGE!!*

Yeah, I have recently recruited Roger as my 7th party member. I just couldn't let that cuteness leave me ^_^ ! *siiiiiiiigh* The cuteness ^_____^ ..... I'll probably make my 8th character Albel. He's pretty cool ^_^. I guess I'm shallow when it comes to characters, I want my cute guys ^^;. I'm a little disapointed that the game didn't go into him all that much. Maybe he would get more development if I had recruited him as my 7th? I'm thinking not though (I doubt Roger will get much development either but... THE CUTENESS ^_^;;; !) . * However, if you never go to the area he's in, at the end of the game, you'll see a short video of him, STILL IN THE CAGE!!* Awwwwwww.... that's so sad ;_; ..... On another note... geez, when you get Sophia again she's at level 1 @_@ .....

On another note... geez, when you get Sophia again she's at level 1 @_@ ..... Actually, there's an important reason for that (besides the fact that story-wise she wouldn't've had an opportunity to gain levels): One of the battle trophies requires you to defeat the final boss with your entire party at level 1. As Fayt, Sophia, and Peppita are the only characters who are ever in your party at level 1, that means you have to use all of them.

But... but... you get such cool things when you do the battle trophies... like...like...alternate costumes, and, um...more alternate costumes! (though, I still have less trophies than Dessa does. Currently Xenosaga II has me in it's death grip).
