Cliff isn't stupid actually. He just relies on luck a lot. Because , well, he's incredibly lucky 0_0. He's actually a bit smarter than he lets on .

You also have to realize the type of character that Cliff is. He's the big tough guy... I'd call him the "brute with a broadsword," except he uses his fists...


And now for some interesting side notes:

1. The same group dubbed this as did Xenosaga (which is hilarious since Cliff is Allen). However, I was not able to find a character voiced by Derek Stephen Prince (Xeno Ep. 1 chaos, of course). Ironically, the only Japanese voice I know is Fayt's voice... Souichiro Hoshi (chaos' Japanese voice).

2. When playing this, I'd only ever played Star Ocean 1 before (and wasn't done). Vanman had only played Star Ocean 2. So we each caught a completely different set of references. Although now that I'm playing SO2... heheheh... "Two headed dragon of Expell" **snickers**

Right now, I'm going towards Sanmite to rescue Ameena. My wife cannot stand the names of the characers or places in this game. It was around the time she met Tynave and Farleen and heard Farleen's near incomprehensible voice, that she finally gave up. I changed Cliff's first name to pipe! Now he's Pipe Fittir! He sounds like a plumber to me.... XD

My wife tried her hand at inventing and had Cliff create a "Repulsive Lump"! That is a masterpiece if I ever saw one!!! XD

And the bag that tempts you to sit around and laugh at it's uselessness was kind of nice too! XD

Ah, yes, SO3. The game where I played multiple files in order to have all the characters, and that I played through in two sittings the second time just to see the Albel ending. :3

You would've had no problem playing on Normal mode, Lovely.. You can level up quite high in these games as you probably know, so the final boss is really no challenge if you're level 85 or so. :3

And the alternate costumes are really cool! In fact, all the 3P costumes are based off other characters (or so we think)... Fayt's is Claude from SO2, no mistake. We're not sure about all of them, but we were able to pick up on a few.. We think Mirage is supposed to be Aeris.. Maria is Rinoa. We think Souffle is Chun Li and Roger is Detective Conan, but we're not sure how they'd get the rights to do that.

Anyway... yah. My final team was Fayt, Albel and Cliff. Bah, but even at max level, I still can't beat the very last optional boss.. Freya, the cute little chibi dressed in green who promptly blows up your entire party and leaves you wanting to eat your PS2. @_@

That reminds me... I should play again to try and get the Roger ending at least...

In Japan, as long as your company is based WITHIN Japan, it's easier to have little "homages" in your media without getting sued. Concerning Roger dressed up as Conan: There was a character in Suikoden3 that was an homage to conan too *laughs*.
On that note.... *siiiiigh* Roger is so cute ^.^ .

Oh yeah, and Jr. you need to write more Star Ocean 3 theater sometime ;D .

I was hoping some of you would like it! cliff gives me enough content to last me a while and Nel's complete inability to ask "Umm.... who is this blonde haired woman you never introduced me to but seem to know so well? And why is it that you can talk about the Eagle and getting off the planet with me in the room and I don't think it's remotely suspicious?"

I love this game though... the battle system has me enthralled, and my wife has taken a shine to the item invention system.

I screwed up and didn't initialize my Battle Trophy data so I'm playing the game on Normal Mode and I'm not collecting any battle trophies!! ;_; DAMMIT!

Was I the only one that noticed that Peppita's autograph read the name "Souffle"? -_- Please follow through with your edits people.....

I love Welch's little dialouges that appear randomly whenever you check in on your communicator..

Man: Where's Welch? In the bathroom? She's been in there an awfully long time!

*Welch shoulder charges and blasts the guy off the screen*

I see a lot of Lovely in Welch. Especially when I read the Inventor's profiles.

Nel- Seems to hang around women with similar bobbed hairstyles... Seems to treat the Engineers from Greeton like VIPs for some reason.

Gossam - His face alone elicits shrieks of terror from the ladies...

LOL! I love how this game makes fun of itself!

I unlocked the battle mode, but I'm saddened by the fact that I will not have the other costumes until I play through it again! I'm not starting over now!

chibi-sama!!! You don't have to start over to get battle trophies!!!

Simply start a new game, initialize the battle trophies, and then quit the new game. Trophies are specific to a memory card, not save file.


This is also how you can fight a boss, get the "under x time" trophy, quit, fight them again, get the "take no damage" trophy, etc.

Those "take no damage" trophies are so easy to get. It just has to be your controlled character, the other two don't matter, so to get them I just stand back and let the CCCs have at it XD

Hm, the only thing is, if you do what Dessa suggested, you'll still have missed some of the earlier trophies in the game.. like ones from bosses you've beaten already. So if you want to eventually get them all you'll have to play through again later XD But yeah, she's right, you can do it that way.

I have a question about Item Creation that none of the FAQs at GameFAQS can seem to answer.

How do I mkae th Golden Curry to recruit Rigel. The item cost for inventing it that has been given to me by the FAQ's I've read are wrong. I cannot seem to make no matter what numbers or people I try...

Have any of you successfully made that item?

let's see... golden curry... the guide says that it requires a base cost of 63. The closest ones above and below it are 86 and 50. The inventors that can make it are Damda, Mayu, Killer Chef, Fayt, Sophia, Nel, Roger, Albel, and Peppita.

Damda adds 10% to cost (so it would cost about 70), and has a specialty of level 6.
Mayu takes off 30% of the cost (so this would put it to about 45), and has a specialty of level 20.
Killer Chef takes off 30% of the time, and has a specialty of level 75.
Fayt has a specialty level of 16
Sophia takes off 5% of the cost (so this would put it about 60), and has a specialty level of 43.
Nel takes 5% off the time, and has a specialty level of 30.
Roger adds 5% to the time, and has a specialty level of 2.
Albel adds 5% to the cost (so this would put it to about 67), and has a specialty level of 16.
Peppita takes off 10% of the time, but adds 10% to the cost (about 70), and has a specialty level of 6.

I'd suggest Nel, Sophia, and Killer Chef (if you have him) or Mayu. That'll give you a cost of either about 60 (Killer Chef) or about 42 (Mayu). You're speed will be faster by either 35% (Killer Chef) or 5% (Mayu), and, either way, you have a fairly high accuracy (it's better with Killer Chef, of course). Just make sure that when you end the line, they're showing happy faces (this means it was successful).

Problem solved itself. The Killer Chef made it on his own so I just get to take credit for his invention.... XD

I have come across some great inventions myself though. I made the Orihalcum. Or however you spell it. I got the ring of disintegration so I have been going around to old dungeons collecting bunny figurines for more invention Fol.

Name changes:

Roger = Jr. (VA match)

Albel = Albedo (VA Match and 2P costume strikes a remarkable resemblance to Albedo as well.)

Actually, Roger is voiced by Mona Marshal and Jr is voiced by Bridgette Sidall. Seriously, two different VA's ^^:. (though yes, there are some similarities.)

in .hack US. VA terms:
Kite= Marshal
Elk and Tsukasa= Sidall ^^

I only mention this because I love those two VA's ^^;.
