Did you know that we really DO talk about you all in the mod thread? It's true!
Heh, I'm playing around, but before I opened this RP board I started a thread over on the mod board to sort of work things out. We still use the thread to discuss some things.
Recently Jr asked me the question-- "Umm I've been racking my brain to figure out how you are going to conduct these battles fairly Lovely."
And I answered with a really long post XD .
Anyhoo, the following is from that thread, and this isn't official yet, but this is how I'm planning to conduct/plan the upcoming battles.
DISCLAIMER YET AGAIN: Still not a guarantee we'll do it though ^^; .
Battle Plans
------------------------
Hmmmm... well, if I have time to do it at all, I was thinking about doing a (somewhat cheap) guess the number sort of thing ^^; .
I KIND OF have a system in mind, but I'm not sure if
1- people will like it
and
2- .... well, crap, I forgot what two was ^^; .
3-- I would have to make a BIG list of numbers before hand to be fair ^^;.
The main flaw of my plan would be that the participants would know the "end results" before hand, while they sort of RP it out on the board.
What Lovely is THINKING of doing. (It's oddly over-matmattical... and kind of weird 0_o ....
Not to mention this is the first time I ever wrote out these floating thoughts that are in my head...
It's probably a bit too micro-manegmental too ^^; ...)
CUT:*I go on for a bit appoligising for the length of my post *
ACTUAL INFORMATION STARTS HERE
Team against whichever team will be chosen at random.
Team leaders guess 2 numbers between 1 and 108.
The first number guessed, whomever is closest will be the "winner"
Second number: There will actually be THREE numbers on "the list" . The numbers determine "by how much" the battle is won.
1st number-- EASY win
2nd number-- Close match
3rd number-- Dumb luck
not chosen by number -- CRITICAL! (I'll get back to this.)
Whichever of the numbers that the two team leaders choose that is closest to any of the "three numbers" will determine how the match is won.
So for example lets say the "numbers to win" are:
15, 36 78 107
(the list would be available to us mods by the way, but not to the regular forum goers.)
Team A guesses 45 and 79
Team B guesses 17 and 46
So the results of this would be
Team B would be the "winner" and they would have an "even match" with Team A.
I PM the group leaders with the results and we start a new thread on the board titled "BATTLE! Team A vs Team B !"
At this point team can opt out of writing a big RP thread and just comment on the battle OR....
Both teams would then RP in the thread in whatever style they like.
The thread would have a "prelude", the "actual battle" and the "aftermath".
The start of each "section" of time would be started and ended by Lovely ( I want these to go fairly quickly so I might have a thread saying "wrap it up!" )
Prelude posts can be in Message board style, dialog style or Story style.
Battle posts can only be in dialog style or story style
"aftermath" can be written in MB style, dialog or story style.
Team members can write for whoever is on their team but NOT the other team. Other board members can comment as they like.
Finally, YES people can die. BUT there are penelties.
1- you can only kill one peson per post.
2- as SOON as a person actually DIES on the battle field the battle style gets updated to "critical!" . In other words, "oh it's on now."
See, the penelty is this. If You kill someone, the other team can kill YOU or someone else on your team. And it will just go back and forth like this. The "who will win" thing is already set, BUT "the winning" team will probably only be left with just one "alive" character (while the loosing team will have all of their members dead.)
In other words, if you start the chain, you will probably have 5 very upset people with you.
The ONLY way a death can be had without the previous mentioned penelties is if it is discussed and agreed upon before hand by BOTH groups and the leaders of the group PM me with the decision.
What you can do if your "dead": You can make up a new character to RP (related somehow to the deceased or not.) However, this character can not be signed up as a Shaman Fight participant.
OR
You can come back as a "ghost" who is haunting the message board.
The way the mods handle their fight is a bit different.
The opponent will be chosen at random and the victor of the battle will be voted on by the board.
