Often in anime, the mothers of male lead characters are missing... it's just something that's common.
But IIRC, you do find out what happened to her later in the series.

the joke was good, but im starting to get bored... i miss yoh and len fighting... why cant they get into an argument and then someone gets their shoulders sliced... i want to see more len-fights... infact... yoh can have horo horo on his side to help as well... (basicly i want to see more serious confrontations.) |

Len-- technically we are in filler teritory right now. The episodes are fun for the most part, and they do fufill a purpose. Mainly to build up the group dynamic. However, it's still rather fillerish ^^; . (fun fact: The Lilly 5 are anime only, they don't actually exist in the manga.)
The series picks up again towards the late 30's and it starts to get DARK. However, I'm sure that's going to get toned down quite a bit in the dub.

Horo Horo: *is showering, accedently turns the water to ice and is frozen there*.............where's that Hao and his Spirit of Fire when you need him? What I REALLY can't wait for is for Faust to come back in......y'know, despite the fact in most episodes, he's really just scenery. |

IIRC, episode 32 or 33 is the Hot Springs episode... **pauses for to let that sink in with all the fangirls** Anyway, 35-36 is where big story happens... then Chocolove shows up after that... I think Episode 43 is when they reach the village... |
