Well... spoilers for episode 30 that is...
I thought I would copy the Shaman King Nation forums and start this thread early ^_^ . So please give your thoughts about the dub and the original ^_^ .
Here's mine for the original episode 30
Mankin 30 (original)thoughts WARNING: SPOILERS!!! Hightlight to read-- I'm warning you, I give away about every joke that was in the original, so REALLY if you don't want to be spoiled don't read it .
Heh, this is such a fun and funny episode. A lot of the fun of this episode comes from the fact that almost ALL of the series running gags are used.
Generalisations about America- check
BILLY- check
Ren and 3- check check check! (this is the episode where he mentions it a LOT.)
Anna using Manta for money ^^; - check
Bason praising Ren for no particular reason- check
Lyserg being angsty for little reason - check
The Patch being goofy about their technology- check
The whole group teasing Milly was fun too ^__^ .
Milly thinking the guy who took her Oracle bell was a pervert was funny too. Oh, also, when the whole group flies off a cliff and the boys are
ALL SMILING. That was pretty hilarious ^o^ .
I think I was a little hard on the dub and it's tendancy to make the next episode previews too dramatic. The original did this someitmes too ^^; . Thought it's sort of an obvious over dramatic-ness . (The next episode previews were originally given by Manta. In the begining, the previews are your standard fare, giving a short synopsis of what to expect in the next episode. Eventually... I don't know what happened. Either the writers or the Voice actor went insane and they decided to do the previews on anything they want. In short, the previews end up being random and freakin' hilarious.)

Hey, at least Manta didn't start saying "nya" or "yana kanji" with stuff...
heheheheh... **goes back to listening to the line of Nyasu no Uta that says "horohoro"**

Hmm, so the episodes were accurate. ^^ Since I can only see the dub, I won't make much comment.
I can't believe they kept 'Osorezan' in the name though. Thought they'd dub it 'Spooky Mountain thingie that'll freak Manta out' or something. (Blame it on the Goldfish crackers...) Well, that's practically the only thing I remember signifigantly since I'm a freak when it comes to anything Matamune/Anna and Yoh's past....I would've strangled 4kids if they dubbed it anything else. Now to see if they keep Aomori in there....
Just to ask, but the sentence of Anna's family being royalty in Itakos is a dub addition I believe or so... They were having a ceremony and heard from Kino about Anna, didn't they? After all, Anna was abandoned for her powers. The souveniers list was a fake too I think. Nyuuuuu...
And about the previews, I record them just to laugh at them....

AWESOME. 100 out of 10. I couldn't stop laughing so hard.
Sad to say, I've never seen the japanese episode, which is part of the reason why I read Lovely's comparisons. Oh, and what was Yoh originally talking about when they were looking at Milly's drawing? Popstars? I doubt it....

Even if they change some parts,it was funny!
My favorite parts are when Milly eats all their food and when she draws a picture of Chysler and milly and Yoh said that he looked like their favoritve pop idol!!XD Also the cliff jumping part and the "Look over there!" and they all looked was funny,too.

the whole 'pop idol' thing wasn't in the original, yoh simply said: 'milly´s a really good artist!' or something along the lines of that...and when he saw the guy he just said 'he looks just like the drawing!'
opacho's voice still scares me....the kid sounds like he´s got a cold or something...o_0..

i knew it! somehow i knew they were gonna give that guy an accent! they even made him say 'criky!' did i spell that right? o_0
now....here something i dont get...and tops off all of 4kids weirdness in my opinion...the bus driver....originally he had lips like chocolove! in the dub they altered him and took them away! why?....i have a feeling 4kids likes to confuse people...the only thing i could think of is that they thought it was racist...like they thought all the little kids would automatically think all black people have big lips or something....o_0

i dont think they'll alter chocolove's lips....since he appears in more than one episode unlike the bus driver...and altering his lips in every episode would cost 4kids money, as for his name...lovely, didnt you say it was bob or something?

(from what I can tell.) I'm surprised they went with Australian though, I was expecting a country drawl. |

Episode Comparison 30 Behold my ability to make really bad puns! Comparison is early this week, eh? To be honest, I wanted to get it out of the way early because I have to work on a research paper this week. Blech >_< . That, and I didn't have to work tonight ^_^ , I worked day shift instead (right, I'll stop rambling now.) Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this. To be honest, I don't actually expect any big edits until the episodes hit the late 30's. That's when this show just gets crazy @_@ (and kind of inapropriate for really young kids.) Then the edits will probably make us all look like this. *laughs*
