In the episode 35 thread, a thing came up about the Hanagumi. However, I don't want to pull that thread TO far off topic so I decided to make a new one ^_^ . Now GhostGodzilla mentioned that Mari of the hanagumi had the "same logic" as the Lilly5 (according to the video games). I hope by this he didn't mean that Mari is now a valley girl 0_o . This would be very, VERY bad. Mari is like a poster girl for "Gothic Lolita" , valley girlism would be a VERY bad miscast in this instance. For the uninitated. The "Hanagumi" are allies of Hao's, their name literally means "Flower Group" (Hana=flower, gumi= group). Now someone in the other thread mentioned that they hope the groups name isn't changed to "The Flower Brigade", but technically, that translation isn't that far off. I'm just saying. The Hanagumi are loved by (anime) mankin fandom because of their style (I expect the manga fandom love them for more reasons.) Mari's syle= Gothic Lolita Machi= Halloween (seriously) Kana= Um.... Coolness ^^; ? Anyhoo, put any more thoughts about your predictions for the future of the dub here. (for example things and people that you think are going to be changed, etc.) PLEASE don't make every post ..."They are going to change so and so into a girl!!! Even though he is obviously masculine!!!1111" Those comments are getting silly  . EDIT: Gothic Lolita definition. I've seen some real life pics before as well, which were... well awesome. I really like this style, though I myself would never have the guts to dress this way ^^; . EDIT 2: Ah, here we go. Soooo cool ^____^ .... Hanagumi rocks my socks. ok that was weird. Lovely, I was one who mentioned the Flower Brigade XD I know it's not far off, but it's just funny and wrong at the same time. There might be spoilers here...so watch out (resurie doesnt want to do the color thing....) Mari as a valleygirl is not only wrong, it's downright scary. "Mari is like totally bored..." o_0....scary...What I have a feeling theyre going to take away her habit of speaking in third-person.  They took it away for Opacho...That's what made Mari so cool...Who else here thinks Takei got Chuck from the movie "Chuckie"? XD *cough* Macchi is actually my favorite, so lets move on to her. GhostGodzilla mentioned her voice was grating. That's not good....Macchi is so funny...I love her facial expressions. And I love that line of hers in their introduction ep. XD Ren: Who the hell are you?! Macchi: Oh, look at him trying to act cool! plus, Jack the Pumpkin kicks major pie ass. o_0...ignore that...and her attack names are cool too "Trick or Treat" (doy), "Halloween Nightmare" and "Pumpkin King"! (as you can see, resurie likes dark mystic things...or we can just say Halloween...) Now, I think Macchi (despite she may have an annoying voice) might be kept pretty intact...she doesn't do anything THAT 'anti-dubbish' if you would say...she's just really hyper... As for Kanna Lovely, hmm...maybe she represents Marlboro? XD oh! or pocky! wait...can you smoke pocky? Kanna in my opinion will probably be the most edited, since she has that skimpy shirt, her cigarette, and that tatoo on her arm (which for some reason is different in the manga...if I recall...o_0). People tend to refer Kanna as a slut as well...  ...now this IS a spoiler ** Apparently, Kanna is in love with Hao despite their physical age difference, hence the reason she was jealous of Anna (in the manga at least...o_0)** I suppose thats all I have to say...has any one noticed I've been talking in third-person lately? maybe it's a sign...or maybe it's just me acting out....o_0...oh well... |

I havnt seen the original, but, here are some guesses.... I think they are going to change Faust's voice tone, just from that preview, I can feel it. Uhm, I guess since I havnt seen the original, thats all I can say, lol, -_-. I actually dont think they are going to edit Chocolove's lips, or make him a girl or anything, (would require far to much editing) Uhm, yah, I guess Ill just have to wait for the comparisons  |

Okay I replayed some of the Shaman King game last night, and heres what I think.
Mari-Actually she might still be Gothic lolita. I'm reconsidering my opinion on her voice being valley girl. The good news is that she does ocassanaly speak in third person. When she loses she says "Mari feel sick".
Machi-apparently now Matilda- I think there idea was to make her sound tomboyish. I'm not sure how well that worked, but strangly the voice has been growing on me. Her best voicework in the game is her prefight saying "This is where your dream ends, and your nightmare begins!".
Kanna- Well they didn't edit her outfit for the game. We'll see about the show. I don't recall her ever having a ciggereate. Her voice seemed to fit to me, but that may just be my opinion. She seems to be a little angry, but in control, and basicly does sound like she'd be the one in charge.

Oh and I should mention. The other day I went down to a friends house. Now all he knows about Shaman King is what I told him. Well we played Power Of Spirts VS mode. And he really liked the Hanagumi. Espesally Kanna, and Ashcroft. So remember, use the Hanagumi to promote Shaman King.

After reading this post like 3 times, I've come across the fact it's about all the characters. bah, fine then. more fun for me! First off, Lovely, I don't want to sound mean...your probably going to shoot me afterwards anyway...but the Hanagumi's names are spelled wrong.... ...and for the heck of it, I'm going to put their full names...and their nationality too...well Shaman King IS part of seeing new races...right? (resurie is obsessed with the Hanagumi after Hao>_O.) Kanna Bismarch - German (gasp). Matilda (Macchi) Matisse - English (they celebrate Halloween in england right...?). Marion (Mari) Phauna. - Italian (makes you wonder where she got her style from....) They all joined Hao because humans hated them for being witches. And since resurie mentioned shes obsessed with them after Hao. I'm gonna put a picture for the heck of it. Macchi's orange haired. But that would take them a while.... Chocolove- he's only one episode away!I think he's a New Yorkie...o_0 (not sure) I read in the One Piece thread that he might have the same voice as Ussop..(did I spell that right? tell me..). Well, I wasn't listening to his voice so I wouldn't know...I doubt they'll edit his lips like they did with the bus driver, it would be too much work for him. Like Lovely has mentioned so many times before, his jokes are gonna be hell to re-write. Heck, they might even go as far as editing things just to fit his jokes. Theres only one joke that wont be re-written...hopefully: Ren: *to Anna* That's stupid--! Chocolove: *appears out of nowhere with a banana in his hand* BANANA!! *everyone turns white with the 'gong' noise in the backround* The Cinderella joke would've stayed the same too...if Len would still be Ren. Well, he has a weird way of showing it... REALLY BIG SPOILER!! Look Away if you dont want to be spoiled about the Hanagumi's future. ** Apparently, in one of the later manga, the Hanagumi are killed, go bye bye, go to 'the land of the no longer living'. I don't remember by who though...*sniff*I made myself sad now...T_T On another note, they haven't said any of the x-laws names....have they even said Marco's yet..? I don't remember it ANY where in the dub...or maybe I wasnt listening...clear me up on that Lovely, or anyone else. The point is if theyre gonna keep the x-laws names. Meene, Larch, Denbat, Cebin, and Porf---Porf.....*laughs* I think thats all of them... And now, resuries crazy name predictions! Lovely isn't kidding about them randomly showing up way early in the manga. I was looking at my Shonen Jumps, and I realized that the Hanagumi are in the splash page for the first chapter!

Fairly BIG spoiler, this shouldn't be viewed till you've seen up to episode 40 or so.
This thought occured to me after a conversation with Resurie in another thread.
*** I wonder if the dub is going to keep in Marco's abuse of Lyserg? I mean, if you think about it, it's not all THAT frequent. But it's startling and well... MEAN. Also, it's an adult slapping a child, I don't know if that will fly well on t.v ^^;. ****
So my prediction is, they turn them both into girls (I'm joking about this last part. This actually has nothing to do with what I just wrote XD .)

Marco's abuse just proves he's a hypocrit =P, at first he's all "Oh, come with us, we'll defeat Hao together!" then after Lyserg joins he's all "Shut up bitch! (slap!)" ok, that doesn't happen, but it is somewhat related...o_0....ok, I admit, Lyserg deserved it while he's in Yoh's group, but Marco's just being mean, yo. Funny how Jeanne doesn't do anything about it....which makes me wonder, when Marco throws the Iron Maiden at Lyserg, what was happening to Jeanne? was she 'flying' around inside it? I also find it odd how Lyserg has no inguries or bruses afterward. XD **
I doubt they'll make them girls Lovely, *knows that your joking* Marco has already spoken, by the way, I mentioned this earlier, they haven't said any of the X-Laws' names have they? I don't remember hearing 'Marco' in the dub anywhere...o_0..

**** Marco really does represent the way an abuser acts. Convincing and charming at first, then the abuse, then back to charming, then abuse....
Like I said, interesting stuff.
On a not so serious note:
I wonder how Marco explained the throwing thing to Jeanne later (I was thinking about this today) XD .

Besides Marco, Meene and Jeanne the X-laws names aren't mentioned that much anyways. But you're right about his name not being mentioned yet. I don't see why they would change Marco's name though. They might change it to "Mark" but that's not really much of change ("Marco" sounds more commanding somehow though ^o^ .)
"Jeanne" might change to "Joan" , but I wouldn't mind that AT ALL. The way "Jeanne" is pronounced in Japanese SOUNDS kind of like Joan. AND it makes the reference to "Joan of Ark" more obvious. Well, technically, "Jeanne" is an obvious reference too "Jeanne de Ark" ...
Meh, either way.
