*I am sorta glad the US doesnt seem to want to give anyone stereotyped Canadian accents, although, most of the people here has such varied accents, I doubt it would offend many people. Here, here! The 'Canuckler' in Ultimate Muscle was as much Canadian stereotyping as I could stand from 4Kids (they did dub it didn't they?^^;; ). As for 'Len', seeing as how they never mention he's from China, I guess they didn't find a problem with giving him a British accent, no matter how bad it turned out to be. I agree with Zinc though. If they had to give him an accent at all, it could have atleast been a believable one. -_-;;

Like Rapid mentioned before the only people who talk like len were probably the Victorians around two centuries ago, and Juns VA tries so hard to imitate a brit accent that it makes her character sound stiff, plus the fact that she's made some MAJOR mistakes on the pronounciation now and again. With all this in consideration I really dont mind the Tao siblings dub voices anymore cuz i've gotten so used to them, but I draw the line with their two little cousins (even Ginny's is bearable) those two had such bloody AWFUL voices that I swear my ears were bleeding by the end of the ep.

Yes, it's bee-CORZ they ORRRRL-ways O-ver-pro-NOUNCE things, when they do their GOOORRRD-dy British AC-cents, what-what?
Yes, we NE-ver do things like THAT, do we, what-what, and tally-ho?
((I've always hated it when British stereotypes say "Tally-ho"... That's a dumb generalisation.))

I know, that's like really old, I don't think anyone says that anymore. I must admit, I don't gte offended at these things, it was only made for a laugh and everyone knows no-one in England speaks like that. But you know what would be fun, if one of those supposed English stereotypes started saying ''enit" and stuff like that in the really thick accents.

I'm not actually British, I'm Chinese, but I do live in Britain. I'm not offended really. I think it's just sterotypes. And where I live (coughManchestercough), people pronouce things sometimes by missing letters or adding letters eg. something = somemat, eighty=eightey

I don't really get offended becuase I never realise they are trying to immitate a Brittish accent. Thats how far from reality they are, of course 'old chap' and such is an indication they are trying to be British but thats more something id expect Sherlock Holmes to say.
As long as the US population realise its a stereotype I don't mind, what id be worried about is the US's tendancy to believe what they see on TV. Im not sure if its true but the US does have a bad reputation for believeing the things they see on TV and films.
Films like U571 certainly dont help, it makes it look like Hollywood is trying to re-write sections of History and the US public don't seem to mind.

Somebody please send the dub writers to the land of the no longer living ;D

A rather good English impersonator would be the one who played Yuda, Yomi's visior, in YYH, as he doesn't over pronounce his accent or syllables, but it's got a nice tint of accent.

I don't like Ren's voice not only because it sounds fake, but because it makes him sound stuck up and loud, whereas he's supposed to have a more quiet voice.
I'm good at imitating an Australian, but I don't think I'm as good with an English accent...
I also wonder why almost every Chinese character was made British in the dub....

'Len's' British accent grew on me. Its cute now but still it is fake. Jun's is ok...because she doesn't talk alot. But, those kids....and 'Ginnie'....Omg.....my ears were bleeding! After a while they just start...too much! Those kids especially, it was Ren and Jun's VA's making their voices sound younger and squeakier...and annoying as hell! As for what someone said about Lyserg not having an english va. Personally i think thats best, he is english, true, but i think he'd sound bad with a accent. I personally really like his english voice.

what i dont get is "len" and lyserg's voices, lyserg is from england but he sounds like a heavy smoker, "len" is from china and he sounds like someone from mary poppins. I feel the same way. I don't really mind Ren's English accent much. There are times when I feel it loosely suits his character and I do find it slightly funny at times. And I think Jun's is alright.

Ren's accent sounds like my horrible attempt at a british accent when I was trying to be the White Witch (From the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis) for a LA project. Now, I do live in America, but I'm British...and Irish and German and Welsh... and I forgot what but somethings that Ren says are just mind boggling funny! And it's not what he say, it's just how he says it with such a... weird voice. I hope I'm not offending anyone.

Sorry about bumping such an old thread... but I just want to say that I find "Len's" accent quite adorable. ^///^ In fact, it's my favorite dub voice. *Dodges flying projectiles* Everyone is going to have their stereotypes... so I couldn't care less about that kind of thing. I think Andrew Rannels does really well with conveying emotion <I Have a Darkness in my Heart was done unexpectedly well> and I personally fell that an unaccented dub just wouldn't be as fun. I even enjoy "Rio's" fake Italian to a point. <It's the singing, you know it...>
