(ruffles hair) If I see one more ep which ends with them walking into a sunset waving I'm gonna FREAK! XDDD Yeah, that does seem to happen every episode, ne? I don't really have anything to say about either...0_o Just that neither are alike, plot-wise that is. I think people compared it to Pokemon because it was another "fighting" anime. Since 4kids tends to focus on the action most of the time, people probably saw it as another "stupid action show". Meh, I don't know...>>

(ruffles hair) If I see one more ep which ends with them walking into a sunset waving I'm gonna FREAK! Or when they end an eppie with everyone laughing... Dragonball Z, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh... these are all shows I loved at one point. Why did I stop loving them? Because, no matter how good a show is, the writers WILL run out of ideas. Then the said show becomes repetitive, cliched, and ultimately unwatchable. Just a bit of trivia, but the reason YGO has the seeming pointless seasons (Doma, Grand Prix) is to allow the manga to catch up to the right-after-Battle City point, so they can beging the Egyptian Arc at the same time, and end at the same time so the ending isn't spoiled. o.o Do you still have that link Shadow-chan? Actually, I don't remember it, but I did find it on a thread in this forum, so...

Yes, well while we're at it, let's compare spiders to curtains! I can see how the new Shaman King GBA games could make them seem similar, but the similarities end there. Spirit collection is just a poor concept for a Shaman King game. And an obvious rip off. I'm still waiting for a Shaman King RPG for the GBA. T_T People might say that also because they're both anime shows. Parents who really don't care what their kids are interested in tend to clump every different anime show into the category "Anime." Digimon is NOTHING LIKE POKEMON!!! >_< Damn straight! I'll defend that argument 'til my death!

Pokemon vs. Shaman King
I think it's pretty obvious that they are completely different, and we're preaching to the choir here. People who say they are alike, at least in terms of the anime (I personally think the SK concept is ruined in the games, I mean collecting the spirits of your opponents? Come on!), they probably just stereotype anime in general.
Pokemon vs. Digimon
Ya, Pokemon I believe also has been dragged out for too long. But let's go back to the time when I was absolutely OBSESSED with Pokemon (which ended about two years ago, impressive ne?) I'm sorry, but back in 6th grade (I'm now in 11th), I was one of the people who thought Digimon was a Pokemon ripoff. You digimon fans gotta explain to me how they're completely different. I realize the genre of their stories are different, but you gotta admit, there are some striking similarities, such as the evolution/digivolution, Pokedex/watever goes on screen, the friendship motif which I can't say much about now cuz tats probably 4kids' work. I mean, just by looking at the names, you can't help but think they came off each other. And Digimon adding "mon" to the end of each monster's name, that's unoriginal... Sorry, those were my thoughts in 6th grade, but I don't watch either now.

About the Digimon Pokemon thing, I read somewhere about a year ago I think that Digimon and Pokemon were made by the same person, because of the success he had with pokemon he wanted more… or something like that.

*surpresses rage* Okay, better now.
Yeah, Digimon are different. I'll PM you.
Yup, the old all animes are the same sterotype. Shaman King is very different, parents need to take more of ana interest in what their kids watch.

Pokemon was created by Satoshi Tajiri, and Digimon was created by Akiyoshi Hongo.

Ok it makes more sense to me now. I just had a hard time believing they were made by the same person.

Digimon is NOTHING LIKE POKEMON!!! >_< Actually, when you stop and think about it, Digimon has more similiarities to Magic Knight Rayearth than it does Pokemon, and Rayearth isn't even a monster taming anime. ^^

Yes, well while we're at it, let's compare spiders to curtains! Once there was a spider on one of my curtains...but I digress ^_^;; I used to love Pkmn. Like to a point where it was dangerous. I still play the game (gold version) because I'm so far along (only 21 more!!!) and I'm determined to beat it. I wish Digimon was still on. I watched it a bit, and I liked it. I don't know why I didn't watch it too often...it must've gotten in the way of school or something...

In fact, around the time of Evangelion, everything was pretty much based around Gundam, and giant mechas and space and so on. Once one idea hits off, many get the idea and expand their own, but sometimes have glaring similarities.

I think the reason that most people would have compared Shaman King to Pokemon is because Pokemon was really successfull for a time, so now alot of people (including some I know) think that if it is an anime it is excactly the same as Pokemon and is for kids. Wich is pretty much an American steryotype thinking that cartoons are for kids.

I thought that Digimon was created first in Japan and Pokemon copied Digimon but Pokemon went to America first and thats why the idea of digimon copied Pokemon started. But I am not very sure.
And about Shaman King compared with Pokemon, i was actually told by someone that Shaman King is almost like Power rangers and the idea of Spirit Possesion/Oversoul is like a power ranger morphing!!!

Okay, who in the heck even thought of comparing Pokemon to Shaman King (Collecting anime vs. fighting anime)? That's sort of like the One Piece vs Naruto thing, the two are of different categories and can't be compared.
See ya
