Okay. You know how in the dub how 4kids thinks kids shouldn't know about other countries. Well, techniquely (hope I spelled that right) they break that logic because since they make the Tao family British, that would mean they're from Britain or countries like that. Bottom Line: 4kids logic still confuses me.

It's actually 4Kids tradition: In all their dubs, there has to be a "British" accent, that can be classed as stereotypically offensive.

I think there's no real point, they'll find out in school anyway. 4Kids is just dumb. They restrict children from learning.

I think we can best compare 4kids' logic to our own English language. They're both extremely hard to learn, and confusing at times. One rule contradicts another, and another contradicts the rule contradicting the rule. Neither make much sense but to the users who've grown up like so...

With 4Kids logic, there is but one large land mass that people inhabit on Earth. In it are various 'regions', but no other 'countries'.
Meaning that all characters either come from the North, South, East, West, or various un-named villages in no particular given direction.

If Shaman King was from America... Yoh, Anna, Manta, Ryu and any other character specified as Japanese would be American- most likely of European descent. Horohoro and Pirika Native Americans, no doubt. The Taos? British in dress, manner and voice. I guess that would make Lyserg Chinese and the Patch either another tribe of NA or Ainu. Chocolove's already an "other" as an American, so he'd either be a token minority or given a new nationality. Faust is still German.
The problem is that once something has been animated, no British accent can hide that Ren's wearing a Chinese shirt.

You forget, though, that one part of 4Kids's logic is no mentioning specific ethnicities or countries. However, that does not mean no applying as many stereotypes as possible, with the potential chance of toning them down as the series progresses....
EDIT: Why British stereotypes, though??? Ren and Jun are from China, for (insert deity or god of choice)'s sake. At least En was not turned into a British stereotype, or he would have lost all seriousness during the first season...

Regional accents do exist in the original language versions of shows. Unfortunately, the only ones I pick up on at the moment are when a Japanese speaker is trying to sound American (Digimon, Pokemon) or Italian (YGO GX). I've heard even DBZ aliens speak in regional Japanese dialects that relate to their personalities and/or station.
I wouldn't say a British accent qualifies as a stereotype, although it hardly helps when it sounds fake and over-the-top and doesn't quite mesh with the character's appearance. It's a cultural analogy for US viewers. The best way to get an American kid's attention of the cultural gap between Yoh and Ren is through a comparable dynamic that can be picked up on, like an accent. Likewise, Jonouchi on YGO speaks very brashly and 4Kids took that, dipped it in stupid and you've got that awful Bronx accent in the dub.

With 4Kids logic:
1. Everyone lives in one country (unless you're on Pokemon or One Piece). 2. Death doesn't exist, you just go to the hospital for the rest of the show (reminds me of that bit in DBZ during the Nappa and Vegeta saga where Tien says "I see their parachutes, they're okay!!" after Nappa blows up a couple of planes and then it shows a big EMPTY sky). 3. You can get killed by poison suction cups. 4. One tap seems to do you harm (remember Sonic X). 5. You can get drunk on Power Juice. 6. The most devastating weapon is the deadly finger.
I'll find some more logic and post them later.

Someone told me once that this dubbed show (DBZ?) had a battle scene that concluded with an explosion and the villain saying, "Oh you escaped." Problem was you saw bones. Now, is that an example of dubbing done based off a script rather than the actual footage or a persistent belief that the entire audience will be blind?
4Kids is covering their bases with Sanji. Should he die of lung cancer in the original, they can dub it as him being destroyed by diabetes from his lollipop habit.

4Kids never seems to make sense. Like when they turned the Professional wrestler team, into an insane people team. WHY DO THAT? Kids watch wrestling EVERY DAY. My COUSINS (who are 8 and 4) watch wrestling! And what's the deal with turning proud Ryo into the annoying Rio? I mean, c'mon! Oh, we can't show wrestlers, but let's stereotype Spanish people for no reason whatsoever! And they don't want other places to exist except America. I mean, Horhoro's from "the NORTH" and when they were supposed to actually GO to America, they go to "The WEST"! It gets on my NERVES!!! Oh well, at least they didn't turn Hao into a surfer dude! I can see it know...
Hao: Dude, I think that... like all the humans should die, and stuff. So.... I think I'll like kill them by becoming, the Shaman King. Whoa, that like... ROCKS! I have a sick mind, so please ignore that. ;D

Let's face it-- 4kids lacks logic. At least in Shaman King they Ren and Jun the same accent.........that's kind of logical......at least for 4kids.

The only time in 4Kids, that they mentioned other countries, was in Kinnikuman Nisei (Kin Ni) (Ultimate Muscle), where they had to mention everyone's countries for the Choujin tournament. (i.e. Terry the Kid coming from Texas, Kevin Mask coming from Britain, etc.)

His japanese flag had the red dot painted over with a picture of muscle planet.
