"hey everyone! I'm back for the last episode of Shaman King!" that's what I wanted to say exactly one week ago, but things came up...college, summer assignments, science research... >_< and then i told Inu that I would come back yesterday, but I got bogged down again... eh, better late than never right? that said...i missed the episode... >_< stupid VCR recorded 9:30 PM instead of AM. gah! well, I saw the original over a year ago, so i'll give my thoughts on that. Ok. We're heading into heavier spoilers and commentary now... ****
*You'll actually find a lot of Shaman King fans who DON'T like the final episodes. The reason for this is that the ending IS slightly cliche'. Hero driven to a corner, he is able to overcome his advisary by drawing upon the POWER OF FRIENDSHIP. Yeah, kind of cliche', but I think the episode makes up for it by having the epilog. An epiloug full of cuteness and... ANNA COOKING. It makes everything worth it.and I would be one of those ppl. Shaman King was and still is my favorite anime. So many things about Shaman King was so unique, ingenius, and executed beautifully, so I was quite disappointed that the anime ended with such a "cookie cutter" ending, like drawing on the power of friendship, and then Hao being defeated not in the spectacular way he deserved because of his power, but was just...cut... this isn't a Hao fanboy talkin, this is just someone going over the logic of the anime in general. And not only was the ending kind of cliched, the whole friendship thing, and how everyone suddenly was able to combine their powers by "friendship", that whole idea wasn't even introduced the whole series! seemed like a cheap way out to me, a rushed ending...just my opinion is all. My favorite animes tend to disappoint me in the end, prolly cuz i have such high expectations of them (i.e. FMA i also thought had a rushed ending) Takei really got bhoasted here u kno? i mean, sure he didnt have a real say on how the anime ended, cuz the anime diverged from his manga around the arrival of Patch Village, but then he can't even finish the manga the way he wanted, which was what I was counting on after I finished the anime, but then I heard the news of how SJ bhoasted him as well. *sigh* well, we got about 10 more years for USA SJ to catch up with Edo SJ, maybe Takei might do something before then... despite these disappointments, obviously SK has an overwhelming number of good points to outweigh them. Like the epilogue, yes, i was one of those ppl who loved it. The scene of the Taos playing Mah Jong, and watching Anna finally cook! those scenes were absolutely PRICELESS ^-^ and before the final oracle bell rings, when the screen zooms in, look for the two posters hanging on the wall. If I'm not mistaken, one of the posters features an early SK character who was in the manga, but not featured in the anime. nice little tribute tat was, if I'm not wrong. eh, can't say I'm really sad the anime is over now...for me it was over when I finished the original, so sry I won't be able to cry with u guys. well, Shaman King, as well as SKU, has been a very significant part of my life. (and just like me to miss the final dub episode >_<) I'm glad to be back for at least one more post, and I'm gonna try to post here some more, but no guarantees. Senior year, u kno... till next time, I just wanna thank everyone who's been here when I was, and then those who've stayed longer than I have, and then those who are still here. I wanna thank them for being such great ppl to talk to, for being so fun. And thank you, Lovely, for having this forum, for having this place where we can discuss one of the greatest animes of all time, and for finding time to keep this place alive for over two years. EDIT: aww man... I was looking forward to the Patch RP when I came back... guess I really have been gone for too long eh? ^^;

I haven't noticed. I'll take a look and see. >> You have triggered my curiosity.

arite, so my last post was made in school. now that I'm at home and had a chance to review the final ep, a few corrections to my previous post:
there is only one poster in that final scene I was talking about, and it is labelled "Bob" on the bottom right-hand corner.
actually, the first time I saw it, I thought he was Takei throwing Gusshi Kenji (from the first volume of the manga) in there, but now that I've checked again, it may not be him, although there's striking resemblance...this image lacks Kenji's mustache...well, u all can decide for urselves (are we still doing that shooting gag?)

That "Bob" poster is actually a poster of Yon's favorite singer, "Bob." ^^; .

Bob is just so funny! I've always found the name Bob funny for some reason. And BHHF is right I did win my first time playing Mah Jong but I had no idea what I was doing...heh heh...
