Threads OPEN now! I'm just leaving my little message here 'cause I think it's kind of funny. I would like to appologise to all those who wanted to start this thread ^^;. I cheated, I know... it's just... last episode! It seemed apropriate that I start it ^^;.
*Comes back from her episode 59-64 marathon, and creating an MP3 of a certain song
^_~ .*
Geez, that took forever... but it was fun ^^ . I love the last episode of Shaman King~
In a past thread, I said that ALL of the last episodes had a higher animation quality. But
that was a slight error on my part. The animation quality drops again for a few episodes,
and then goes back up to the quality stuff in episodes 63 and 64.
First, some thoughts on previous episodes:
First off, the comments about why Manta's oversoul is a computer turned into a
hammer. This, I think I can explain, sort of. The laptop is Manta's digital version of his "Mantajin", Manta's encyclopedia of
everything. Manta in the past has been known to refer to this book as his "Hammer of
Knowledge." Sooo... I think the computer hammer is just a reflection of that.
In a previous episode Hao sort of forgets Manta's name and calls him "Tanma."
This actually makes sense, Hao is basically saying Manta's name backwords.
Characters for Manta's name is : MA N TA That backwords would be: TA N MA
Just wanted to point that out to those who saw the original episode and missed it ^^ .
Finally, when Ren rescues Lyserg... *dies laughing* For some reason, I just think it
looks amusing. I'm surprised that RenxLyserg isn't a popular pairing (and I'm saying
this as a person who DOESN'T really see shounen-ai pairings in this series.) ^^;.
Ok. Now that THAT'S out of the way. Next post is actual thoughts on Episode 64.

Episode 64 thoughts: I'll start off non-spoilery. This episode is interesting in a few ways. ONE of those ways you won't experience in the dub because well... it has to do with the music. The first music thing to note is that this episode uses some background tracks that ARE NOT used in the rest of the series. Because of this, the music kind of stands out. The second music thing is my favorite vocal insert track in the entire series, Tamashi Kasanete ("Our Souls Overlap") I simply LOVE this song. It's actually one of my favorite anime songs in general. It's sung my Yoh's voice actor and it just has such a wonderful beat and sound to it. The way it's used in the last episode is wonderful as well. A lyric-less version is used, and the version with lyrics is played twice. The first time, only partially. The second time, the full version- played over some very nice scenes . Ok, the second reason this episode is interesting is because of SLIGHT spoilers. You can read this if slight spoilers don't bother you. ****** This last episode is interesting because the fight with Hao only takes up half an episode. The entire second half of the episode is an epiloug. I REALLY love Epilogues, so I was happy with this. Oh yes, and Souls Overlap is played at the very end of the episode, adding to the fun.
Ok. We're heading into heavier spoilers and commentary now... ****
*You'll actually find a lot of Shaman King fans who DON'T like the final episodes. The reason for this is that the ending IS slightly cliche'. Hero driven to a corner, he is able to overcome his advisary by drawing upon the POWER OF FRIENDSHIP. Yeah, kind of cliche', but I think the episode makes up for it by having the epilog. An epiloug full of cuteness and... ANNA COOKING. It makes everything worth it.
Another complaint is that Hao kind of goes out of character at the end, what with his going loony and all. I actually have a theory for this. You see, in the Japanese version of this show, Hao has the same voice actor as Dilandau in Escaflowne. Dilandau being a VERY insane individual, with a unique voice when he goes crazy. Therefore, Seriously, with that voice, how can you NOT let the VA use the crazy tone *laughs*.
Finally, the "open-ended ending". The ONLY thing open-ended about the ending is the stupid oracle bell going off. Because of this, young Shaman King fans on the net always go "THERE MORE!!!1111!" It's one frikin' second of a scene! GET OVER IT! *hyperventilates* Me? I did like that moment, I LIKE open-ended endings. It gives your mind a sort of "...and the fun continues..." sort of thought. But nooooo, some people have to site it as a reason for the ending being "bad" . *sigh*
**** I actually had more notes, but I've said my peace really. I'll mention that stuff later. I have a pic of the *** Group shot**** that's used at a certain scene in the episode. But I'll post it later (I don't even have it uploaded online yet...). Well~ here's your time guys. Commment away~ We've had fun these past two or so years right? Even though the series is over on broadcast tv, I hope we can continue to have fun. And most importantly of all, Never loose your love for Shaman King!

We've had fun these past two or so years right? Even though the series is over on broadcast tv, I hope we can continue to have fun. And most importantly of all, Never loose your love for Shaman King! Meh, I won't. Mankin is what made me learn about anime and manga (well, maybe Yu-Gi-Oh might have helped, but Mankin was 95% responsible). Anyways, my usual knowledge and thoughts, and I don't feel like doing spoiler tags: -Yep, Yoh pretty much gets knocked around the sanctuary by Hao. -I thought it was kind of strange that everyone started to send power to Yoh through the way they showed. It was not the Tlanwa (someone correct my spelling if I am wrong) birds that was unusual, it was just the tree that appeared out of nowhere. - Amidamaru looked awesome after Yoh powered up -Heh, Bananalove amuses me.... -Anyone else find Marco dressed like a preacher strange? By the way, Lovely, was this the group shot you talked about? And for those curious, here was a clip from a site that has the epilogue, along with Tamashii Kasanete playing. Actually, unless someone can clear up if posting the download link of another site is hotlinking to me, I won't post the link that starts the download, but the site. The sixth clip down, or the image link under the pic of Lyserg with mud in his hair, is the one to download. Yep, the last time anyone has to bear my long and useless episode posts ;D......

Nah, here are the two group shots I was refering to. this oneAnd a close up of the same shot in this oneIt's just funny because of some of the people included in there ^^ . Anyhoo, I'LL still use spoiler tags . *** The tree actually made an apperance before. When the boys first went to Patch Village. It was the tree that was a representation of the great spirits ^_~ . In other words, in addition to Yoh using the power of his friends, he's also using some of the power of the Great Spirits. At least, that's how I interpret it.
As a side note, I think it's incredibly nifty in that scene how the two people who love Yoh most; Anna and Manta, send thier power to Yoh at last and at the same time ^^ . I thought it was cute.***

Just saw it.... The whole Hao battle...alot of the ep..seemed...i dunno...more rushed..and...odd than the original. .__.; I wasn't really..feeling the whole dramatic last eppiness as i was in the original. I'm tired right now so i can only say a few things... I was rather disappointed with how the handled the end. =/ It REALLY made it seem like there was gonna be a sequel..and...i dunno. No song at all. Merely opening bgm and Manta talking. ._.; Kinda ruined it.. Also, i really dont think Yoh had been making frozen stuff. My subtitles said leftovers. ; I liked Ryu's water fountain scene. XD; They did good with that. Horo's, was alright. >_> They said food platter a bit too much. Lyserg's...bah. Morphine was originally telling him he needed to sleep or something. Ren's....was great. X3 I laughed really hard. Ren+World Domination video games=XDDDDDD WTF xDDDD .....And hearing him say 'creamy puff puffs or whatever was priceless. xD And...what was it? Gah, I forget the name, but whatever book about how to be a nicer person or something Bason mentioned, xDDD awesome. X3 Squee~ ....The ending upset me though. I think they couldve done better, i really think they couldve. .__. And now...it's over. ..It's...sad. I've almost been with mankin for a year now...=/ It's been a big stress relief...whenever i would be upset...i'd watch it and it would make me happy. I know that sounds retarded but...it did. It was something to look forward to. Now i just have....Mew Mew Power...X.x; But...yeah. .__.; I'm really gonna miss it..Saturdays wont be the same anymore. ;-; ..I'll probably be back with more stuff later....*sigh* ;-; Bye mankin...

Awww... *gives Inu a hug*
Anyhoo, there are two things I forgot to mention in my previous posts. Well... actually one thing.
The original episode previews shown at the end of 62 and 63. Basically, they were cute.
62 has Manta commenting that the series is ending and can the main character REALLY stay dead? Really??
Episode 63 has Manta basically thanking the audience for watching the show. He also mentions that Shaman King had been playing in Japan for 1 year and 3 months ("ALMOST a year and a half!")

Umm, this pic, Inu? By the way, Pailong was not playing, it was En, and they were playing Mahjong, which is kind of a popular tile game with Chinese people, mainly with the older crowd.

"Curse Jun! Just- curse her!"
Ohohoh, that Len cracks me up...
...for the last time... ;_;
Buah, it is a VERY good eppie. It shows everyone in normal life... it's cute. And, if it was HOROHORO, he could so fix that tractor. Well...
...hmm, I'll miss it. But maybe, its not over. I'ma try and see the originals, and...
...Shaman King is good. So very, very good.

Umm, this pic, Inu? Ya that's how I used to look half the time when I would play my mom. (Like En) I say half the time becuase we're kinda evenly matched. ... Yes I know how to play Mah Jong. ... But I'm not Chinese in case you're wondering. ... And I'm not that old either.

We all know how Ren's father is hated by the dub.. XD I think they edited out the iceman clip too didn't they? I forget...... I'm glad they kept the Opacho clip, but without the song timing it was kinda less dramatic. In the original, some really strong and changed beats play right when the star sails past her. And I wish they would have stretched the opening theme throughout the epilouge, it's not a bad tune, and it would have been a ton better than the crappy BGM they crammed in there. Anyways, it's such a shame to see it over. The epilouge was rather poorly handled comparitively to the original. Without the song it was kinda pointless. Morty's lines seemed a bit forced and such aswell. Rio's line about baking soda was brilliant though. I forget it, but it rocked. And the dub smiled upon us with another Rio song, which seemed....pretty well sung.. . Trey's lines, and Len's lines were also kinda fun. They were all light hearted and good way to end I think. And the dub kept location with accent for the first time... ever by way of Joco's boss. I'm not sure if it's a comedy club in the original, but I think it's a great way to implie he is on his way to his dreams. Faust got the really short end of the stick here...... he had like 5 seconds of screen time.... Inu's right though, the dub seemed to REALLY force the idea that there would be more. It was kinda annoying.... Well..... All's mixed that ends mixed. It wasn't the best, but, we all remember worse episodes *coughPino'scough*
