It hard to know what to belive in now. When volume 3 was supposed to come out this past February,I remember somebody posting a link to another website with volume 4 on it saying that it was supposed to come out in December this year.
But now that I looked on the CD universe website,I clicked on the other DVDs and it says volume 4 is backordered since 4/4/05.0.0
Yeah so I don't know what to say.XD
Anybody up for a bombing of 4crap's hq still? =3

Apology for the double post but this is important.
Turns out... false hope. FUNi's January schedule says no uncut SK in January.
U_U Dammit 4Kids... gah, that's it, I'm starting an anti-4Kids site...

I'm guessing 4Kids thought the existence of uncuts might hurt their reputation as a kid-safe company... Well, guess what? Those kids can get online and hear complaint after complaint about the company.
Anyone know if 4Kids is a public company? B/C if I were a stockholder, I'd be so pissed.

I'm guessing 4Kids thought the existence of uncuts might hurt their reputation as a kid-safe company... That's the thing - I've never heard 4Kids express anywhere that they're even remotely concerned about this. Regardless, the Shaman King uncuts sold well while the TV ratings were crap in the 6-11 department. I don't know, I would figure Al Kahn should be smart enough to know that he'd be wise to shift his focus.

Maybe, just maybe, the fact that this company's name is 4KIDS might be why they haven't expressed their concerns about this yet.

I was on Amazon.com and I noticed some guy claims to have Shaman King vol. 3 (uncut). Do you think he's lying?

Eh. If 4Kids was concerned about kids getting their hands on uncut DVDs, why would they release them in the first place?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it because Funi practically forced 4Kids to do it because their dub-only DVDs weren't making any profit and they were getting pissed about it?

I don't know a whole lot about that matter, but If that were the case, then would'nt we have already seen more uncut Mankin DVDs in stores now? Also, this is sorta off-topic, but whats exactly is the relationship between 4Kids and Funimation anyway?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it because Funi practically forced 4Kids to do it because their dub-only DVDs weren't making any profit and they were getting pissed about it? Sort of. IIRC, FUNi was really angry about how badly Yu-Gi-Oh was botched up and begged for uncut masters, but 4Kids wouldn't give 'em up give 'em up give 'em up give 'em- Er, sorry. My theory is that while FUNi could have influenced 4Kids' decision to release uncut DVDs for Yu-Gi-Oh (along with increasing fan demand), Shaman King was going to be released uncut from the beginning. When I saw how badly One Piece turned out and the uncut DVDs being pulled, it became clear that 4Kids only released them to say "Here, uncuts, now stfu". Too bad it didn't work, if they wanted people to shut up about it they should have released the whole series U_U; Although... 4Kids has a contract with their Australian One Piece distributor (Madman) to provide them with uncuts... and Mike Sinterniklaas (4Kids VA, does Horohoro) said that work was being done on it... so yeah, I don't think "protecting their image" is an issue here, unless their image is "pissing off the fans in any way possible". FUNi is/was 4Kids' main distributor for a while and right now releases Sonic X, Yu-Gi-Oh!, TMNT, and Winx Club. They used to release more 4Kids shows, but everything else was pulled 'cuz they sux ;D And Yu-Gi-Oh and Sonic X may be pulled as well from what FUNi's schedules are telling me (or just be released at painfully slow rates).

He's OBVIOUSLY lying . Occassionally, DVDs do get produced and in-store before being pulled (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&fkr=1&from=R8&satitle=history+of+beavis&category0=) but I have yet to hear that is true for Shaman King. I can't imagine with the artwork for a couple of volumes having been released that at least volume 3 was manufactured and is sitting in a warehouse somewhere. 4Kids is most likely overcautious about this market for 6-11, but it is not as though you can't distribute content for older consumers as well- in more specialized locations. If someone is shopping in Suncoast rather than Wal-Mart, they are probably knowledgable enough not to pick up Ninja Scroll for the kiddies just because it's in the same section as YGOtv cut or actually notice that Happy Tree Friends should not have been in the children's rack to begin with. It's simply a matter of avoiding retailers who cater to less discriminate buyers for the uncut versions. Maybe online-sale only is the solution.

The way I see it; trouble with online-only is that you'd probably have to consider the factors like loosing business to various technical malfunctions and the anime fan who might NOT have internet access, or paranoid about information stealing and that sort of jazz. Thats my speculation.
Of course, we would'nt have to worry about uncut releases in the first place if 4f**kin-Kids actually focused on shows that WERE FOR KIDS, fitting the 6-11 demographic. Which is technically NOTHING in the Shonen Jump line as its main focus is a 13+ demographic (based on the magazine). But apparently their logic is as follows:
lucrativeness > actual appropriateness

Reportedly, 4Kids attempted getting InuYasha early on.
Take that how you will.
