Hmm, just curious, why did the gang have to fight the Patch officiates anyways? Did Hao become the Shaman King and they were bound by tradition to protect him or something?

Whoa, never knew Mikihisa dies. Was it in the original manga, too, or did it just occur sometime between the end of the series and the beginning of Funbari no Uta?

Yep! He was in his 'preparation sleep' to merge with the Great Spirit, and since the Patch are duty-bound, they have to guard the chamber he's in. If he became Shaman King or not, nobody knows. The manga kind of dropped off with no clarity.

As for Mikihisa...he dies later on in a car crash (sounds like him, randomly...dying like that X3). I don't think it occured during the manga....pretty sure it didn't, he was in a few of the final chapters. Just a between thing, I guess.

Dang, Mikihisa AND Faust die?
That aks me sad because i like both characters. Mostly Faust, but Mikihisa was more inportant to the storyline. i did not know this stuff. Now I shall mourn there deaths by watching ALL the episodes they appear in.
Goodbye Miki, Goodbye Faust. I hardly knew ye.

Anyhow, what I had said in my clearly messed-up post was that I was surprised about Mikihisa's death. A car crash? What volume does it happen in, and how does Yoh take it?

And I would also like to think that Faust would be brought back if Hiroyuki continued it.

Actually, Kuroi, I asked about Mikihisa and Faust earlier (top of page 3). But I'll restate the facts.

Even though Faust died, apparently, either Anna resummoned his spirit or he hung around after he passed away. However, his spirit does not show up in "Funbari no Uta", so it could be assumed he passed on to heaven with Eliza, though there is that whole deal with Anna needing him for Funbari Onsen, so maybe he is still on Earth with Eliza (I think regardless of the situation, Faust and Eliza are going to be together).

As for Mikihisa, he was still alive at the end of the manga, but he was dead in "FnU" because he was in a car crash. Strange, seeing as he was a guy that climbed mountains with minimal gear and can practically teleport....
