*looks around and shrugs* I guess not?
I would like to hear some arguments on why Manta should be the Shaman King. I don't have any, but I think it would be interesting.

I don't think it would happen unless Yoh died before becoming Shaman King. To take an example from the anime finale, he would've found the strength and will to take lead beyond his ability. But as it stands, I don't think he's the right archetype in the story. monomyth.org/index.php?module=article&view=7&MMN_position=4:4

I think who should be shaman king is anna *everyone screams and runs from Mimiru* Just kidding, Anna would probably make a good Shaman Queen, as someone else mentioned. But here's the main problem... Anna: As Shaman Queen, I command that there will be no slackers under my reign. Electric chair now!!! Yoh: Oh please Anna, we've been doing the electric chair non-stop for 4 years ! Guy: Yes, spare us please! Anna: Okay... Everyone: Thank God!! Anna: You'll do the electric chair non-stop for 2 years instead. Everyone: *cries*

Yeah,
A thought just came to me... since Opacho was trained up by Hao, she could probably run in the Shaman Fight.
Opacho: Yay! MetaKnight: ... but do you even have a ghost? Opacho: ...

To tell the truth, I don't think any of the main characters would be good candidates. My idea of the perfect Shaman King would be someone with Yoh's tolerance and Ren's ability to keep/enforce order in any situation.
Hmm...I guess I'd want Ren and Yoh to rule side by side.

In that case... who'd be "king" and who'd be "queen?" (Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.)
... I still vote for Chocolove. He's close to that ideal.

You know, I'm not so sure I'd call Yoh lazy. If he was really lazy, he'd make a concerted effort to ditch Anna and her training. He's pragmatic, if you look at his second fight with Ren. What he claims he got out of the Faust battle was the realization that he's not going to push himself beyond what he's comfortable with. But he keeps up the training, and goes to fight with a calm head.
And the Anna issue brings in how Yoh is happy to marry someone who's just as interested in making his life easy. You know, she's recruiting workers for her inn so she can just sit at home watching tv while people pay to spend the night. Tamao's probably the one making up the rooms, Ryu's cooking, Faust is running some clinic thing, etc.

And I didn't realize the idea about Anna that you brought up, that she's recruiting workers to make his life easier. I thought that Anna's definition of that was that she'd train him up so that he would be strong enough to win fights without too much effort.
