In the newest Shonen Jump, I found that Zoro changed to Zolo. Why? I asked...
It looks like the 4Kids getting the anime license made some copyright holder find out about the manga; Viz probably didn't wanna get sued...

Sometimes, though, I think people are over-reacting to name changes... Of course, I got enraged over the Conan name changes because a Japanese company FORCED Viz to do it. I sent them an e-mail asking why they did it. And later, when I get the response, I'll ask 'em to change it back.

As for Hercule, Viz drew the line somewhere, Lovely... They felt that saying "hell" was okay, but if they kept the guy's name, they'd be lynched by soccer moms. That's why "Mr. Satan" is explained as Hercule's wrestling name in the Viz manga. Trust me, if they felt otherwise, they probably would have kept his name... They DID in that one issue, but don't act too hasty... instead of cancelling your subscription, send a letter to: "Mailing Address: VIZ, LLC P.O. BOX 77010 San Francisco, CA 94107" I don't like it when people over-react like that

As for solving the "Hercule" problem, that requires attacking the general American culture and stigmas around the Christian Satan. Viz probably didn't wanna get into that hooey and just minimalized his Japanese name (They do acknowledge it in the opening page)

Wow, they might as well delete entire chapters then (it comes up a lot concerning the X-Laws).

Wow, they might as well delete entire chapters then (it comes up a lot concerning the X-Laws). No.. they allow Christian-related things but for some reason or another, felt that "Mr. Satan" would be too objectionable or just felt it was out of place. I'm no mind-reader, though. Personally, I would have kept Mr. Satan too...
