What your friends think of you and anime/manga

Basically, summed up in the topic name, what do your "friends" think of you and your animes/mangas?

Not everyone I know cares about it, but when I bring my Shonen Jump magazines to school, a lot of people I know want to look at it.

For me, everyone thinks I'm weird, calling the animes done by 4Kids "Sad cartoons", to which I protest my argument about animes and cartoons. Then, when I bring in manga, they call 'em "comics". Although, I can't really argue it, I usually try to.

Anyway, my "friends" are racist on the matter.

That's exactly it. They don't think anything's good unless it's English or American.

Well, all my friend see me as an obsessee with SK and don't seem to realise there are other animes I like (mind you I've only watched the dubs though) But I don't know if this counts but theres this guy I sit behind in our form room who seems to think that all anime it just guys with big hair, small noses and big mouths who play cardgames, obviously he has never seen Outlaw Star.

I have one coworker who loves anime as much as I do and we usually can talk all day at work about the different animes we watch.

I don't do a lot at work. ^^;

some of my friends get it. some of them don't.
anyone I date absolutely MUST like anime. I'm not picky on a lot concerning dating, but this is one of my standards. but as far as friendship, I have friends who like anime and friends who don't know what anime is.

Oh yeah, my wife and I both watch SK and One Piece together. I have to tape them on Sundays and wait until around 8pm to wath them (yes my ability to resist watching them earlier. I amaze myself sometimes! ;D )

She hasn't gotten into the whole manga thing yet. I have a feeling I'll come home one day soon and catch her flipping through one of my volumes of SK manga! ;D

I haven't told my friends about anime, but I think they're interested in other things.

Well, I don't have friends and most of them think that anime is for kids. No, they are not racist and even so, I know girls who borrow my manga. If anything, they're not interested in anime but more like manga. That's only two though.


If there's anything, there are the people who like anime so much they want to become Japanese and think they are the best. Now, I'm not saying anything bad but before they come to judge a nationality, whether it's good or bad, shouldn't they know more than the outside? Such as history or so. But even so, they think Japan is the best and say they will move there, etc etc etc. >> I hope that didn't seem racist...

And the others I know...only the boys seem to like anime. Of course, they're Korean so they read manhwa (Korean Manga) and aren't that concerned on dubs, subs or so. I guess they're ignorant but in this case it's a good thing. They care more about the show itself than looking at comparisons and such...


But, all in all, all girls in my school only care about fawning over super stars, singers, make up, boys, blah. >_>;;

And Kawaii Kenni, I understand about that, but hey, you can't tell everyone in the world about the difference between anime and cartoons since they could be taken for the same thing 'cept that anime is from Japan. And about the 'Japanese are seen as inferior'....hey, be glad they even know what Japanese is and I think you know the reason as to why many people are racist about that... Think Pearl Harbor.

blah, my friends don't even know what Anime or Manga is I have a friend her and her sister have seen half the first seassion of shaman king and another friend that likes Hao and Ren but has only seen the eppy where Lyserg joins the x-laws.

Basicly people at my school are idiots.When I was 6th grade I got into manga(I was into anime first then manga ^,^; and brought one of my Sailor Moon manga books that day and all the @$$-hole boys in my class said that it porn!!
Yeah like Sailor Moon is porn!
And from that day on everytime i brought a manga book in they kept calling it porn and either though I explained what it was it made the sitution worse. (To say the least I hated middle school)
And now that I'm in high school,I brought Wizard anime magazine in and the boys in my Spanish class said it was a dirty mag!
Appartly people are stupid.and right now my little brother is bugging the crap outta me and saying that SK sucks,so I'm going to beat the crap outta of him.Excuse me.*gives brother noggie and tickles him selfless*

My friends think I'm weird. Period. XD Actually, they do know I'm an anime fan, none of them really mind about it though. The only "anime" fans I know in my school are the little boys playing BeyBlade. XD!

I usually draw in class A LOT. Hence the reason my grades tend to go down. But my friends always comment they're nice. But they also ask me WHY I draw so much. As if they think it's not important. (It is to me!) One girl thinks Sakura is cute, but she also tells me all my drawings look the same. XD

There's this one kid (who happens to be my cousin) who's always bad mouthing Shaman King. o_0 For no reason what so ever. He's never even seen it...and he claims Saint Seiya is the best anime ever. And for some reason he thinks Shaman King is called "King of the Mountain" o_0....I'm as confused as you are...

But! For my birthday I celebrated early, my friends (the non-anime ones) and I watched FLCL, and they loved it! XD Two guys commented on how it was "too much", as in the fact they didn't understand it. XD Still, they loved it! Whoo~!

The only person who calls me a freak because of anime is my sister. XD
