Ahaha, that is funny! Yes, her comics do rock, but that is one of the best. The reason I think Viz is changing SJ a little is:
Little Kid: *is is store* *sees SJ with Yoh on cover* Look, mommy! It's Yoh! May I buy it? Pretty pretty please?
Mother: Ok...
Little kid: *opens SJ to page with Ren's bum* Ahh! Len's NAKKIE!

as you may have seen in some other posts of mine, I'm not the biggest fan of Viz (anime or manga). but anyhoo, here's more fodder for the masses:
-Ren's butt obscured=angry NIPPON (not that I looked)
-editing Mr. Popo's lips: stupid. if they wanted to make him less stereotypical or whatever, they could have had him NOT talk in the 3rd person.
-Pegasus name change: ridiculous. his name was already in English. however, I haven't actually seen any manga with this change intact, so I can't really say anything about it until I see it for myself.
-I dropped $30 on my SJ subscription, and the thickness of each issue is dwindling by about 100 pages. as a paying customer, I demand my money's worth.
IMO, of course...

What annoys me is that 90% of all American kid's shows are violent, but they think it's okay since it's not Japanese.

Too true, Way too true. I mean, for chrissake! even shows on Nickelodeon use the words like 'dying' or 'death' or something like that! And they have cartoons on saturday mornings, so time-frame is far from an excuse!

Seriously, it's rated teen, so SJ shouldn't change it for little kids who don't know that other countries exist. |

another thing I should point out. A few years ago, I was flipping through channels and there was nothing on, so I swallowed my pride and watched Nick Jr. Little Bear or whatever it's called was on, and the entire episode was about death. And they actually said "died" and stuff like that. ON AN AGES 4-6 SHOW. AND NO ONE COMPLAINED.
On a side note, the uncut 4Kids dvds are actually doing pretty well. In YGO vol.2, Joey said damn (gasp!), and in vol. 3, in the episode about Yugi fighting "ghost Kaiba", they said "dead", "died", and "killed" many times, and "kaiba" kept talking about hell.

Man, why doesn't 4kids just give up on anime and just do weekday afternoon "edutainment" stuff?
Or would they screw that up to just like in SK episode 9 where they pasted over everything about the Ainu Tribe?

That anime has very little things, if anything at all, that would be considered objectionable to a US audience. The main character, Beet, isn't bleeding when it is said that he is near death in the anime. I'd think "Legendz" would be suitable for 4Kids as well. |

Heh, It's an anime about elementry school kids that battle with monsters, that's bound to be a 4kids thing, with a lucrative, Poke-esque game to boot. Just wait....

I noticed that for the most part, the animes that 4kids licenses have young main characters. (with the exception of Ultimate Muscle)

Some more titles that DO NOT run in Shounen Jump are recently reported as "edited". "I's" and "Decendants of Darkness". You know... I'm seriously considering just boycotting Viz in general lately.... EDIT: It should also be noted that Decendents is rated OLDER TEEN. EDIT2: source. Warning for mature content. |

I've always wondered why Viz edits sound effects... other companies don't, and it seems that it would only take too much time. someone actually asked about it in an early shonen jump, and they answered... I don't remember what they said, though.
