I"S is rated "older teen" too, as is Ultimate Muscle (another edited title).

If enough I"s fans make a ruckus, Viz may change their practices on "non-Ranma" OT manga.

Maybe they made a mistake in the first one... by the way, last year I sent Viz an Email in regards to getting something published (I'm working on a manga). They answered in half a day. However, when I send complaints, they're completely ignored.

I didnt know viz was so....-_-; One thing i don't get, why bother editing manga? I mean, Jesus, its a book. It has a rating, if people look at that their bound to know what theyre in for. And also, little kids should not be reading older manga. And if they somehow do, their mom's shouldnt complain because it has a rating stating T, or OT, etc. it just bothers me to edit manga, its not going on tv, a rating is on the back, it seems unneeded, do people edit books with questionable content? No. So don't do it to manga!

Another thing I noticed about Jump is the dialogue in their preview for Rurouni Kenshin is different than the dialogue in the actual GN. The ideas are basically the same, but some dramatic words are left out. This seems not only pointless, but unefficient.

Btw, how does one pronouce I"S?

I's is....I's. Like...theletter I, then say it like...say a person was named I, and someone asked if something belonged to you and it belonged to the I person. "No, that's I's" Thats how you pronounce it. Sorry for my weird explanation ^^;
Btw, has anyone here actually read I's? I've been meaning to check it out, it soundspretty good.

Well, parents do get angry over content - E.G. what happened to Toshiro Ono's Pokemon. However, I"S is NOT Pokemon.

Parents got angry with the content, and Viz edited the next printing.

As a matter of fact, this article www.postmodernbarney.com/archive/2005_03_27_postmodernbarney_archive.html#111228977329762762 , which explains the edits to I"s and Darkness, shows the probable reason for why Viz is all of the sudden editing things.

A parent in Pennsylvania is to blame.

By the way, Viz isn't the only publisher that has edited manga.

TOKYOPOP edited Initial D (and Initial D didn't do so well).

CMX edited Tenjho Tenge (this could be a death blow for CMX, as they are a new publisher)

An odd thing i noticed sometimes Viz rates its own manga to low. Once i remember reading in dragonballl z and it was rated A for all or sumthin llike that, though inside they countlessly say bastard and other words little kids shouldnt know.......anyone ever noticed that??

like in Sand Land. they say "damn" and there's a bit of blood, not to mention the mention of an actress called "Sexy Terrier." not that I have a problem- I liked Sand Land.

I bought the first I's today. I've only read a little, but i like it so far. Erm..i was flipping through it and i saw the um...nipple stars XD; omg...they look...ridiculous! I mean seriously, its stupid. I think it was a very unneeded edit. If they needed to edit them so bad, i think they couldv'e done better, i'm sure there were other alternatives. -_-;

I like the art in I's though...its unique.

SJ has gotten stupid now. I think it is all because of 4Kids putting the SJ logo on the anime they've done. But SJ and Viz have T for Teen and OT for Older Teen on their manga, so people have been warned, so why would they need to edit it?

I also think the reason why on dubbed anime they can't say "death" or "kill", and they can on kid's cartoons is because anime is much more detailed and graphic than a cartoon. So, that would make sense. At least 4Kids implies death instead of ignoring it completely...

Maybe I should write a complaint letter, as well...
