As for name changes in other lands...
Usopp became "Pipo" in France.
In Germany, Luffy is "Ruffy".
In Greece, I believe the main character becomes "Drake", though I could be wrong...

Ooh, I'll give a quasi-"uncensored" link: (VIZ posts about 1/3 of their manga on line) www.shonenjump.com/onlinemanga/onlinemanga.phpAlthough - VIZ was forced to change it to Zolo As for my opinions on the voices: * Luffy sounds like Chris of Sonic X - I imagine him to sound like young Goku * Zolo doesn't sound adult-enough * Haven't heard Nami speak * Usopp needs an African-American voice, or at least something less ridiculous * Kuro doesn't sound cold enough * Django doesn't need a surfer voice. * Kaya's voice is too soft. She needs to sound like an adult. |

Luffy is voiced by Tara Jayne I believe who also does Anna's voice. She also does Kaya's.
I believe that Kuro sounds pretty much how I would expect him too.
And how old is Zoro supposed to sound. He sounds like mid to late twenties to me.
But Tara should have come up with something better for Luffy. He is totally creepy looking, but he doesn't need to sound crreepier!

Sorry about that Lovely.  If anyone wants to know more about that, PM me. Comments: *Luffy's VA IS Chris from Sonic X  It's not Tara, it's Suzane Goldfish. Luffy's Japanese voice sounds like a kid too, but he's got lots more attitude. *Zoro sounds adult enough to me. I actually think he sounds too old. Zoro is 19. *Nami is ok. *Usopp is not african-american, but it wouldn't have been bad. If I could pick an English voice for Usopp based on people I've heard, I'd use Johnny Yong Bosch. *Kuro sounds...snooty. Definately not cold enough. *Jango sounds like a moron *Kaya's voice in the Japanese version is even more high pitched and just about as soft. |

Personally, I think Son Goku's voice actor would be better for Luffy because Son Goku has that "adventurer-kid" voice that fits Luffy.
When I read the manga, I didn't imagine a "squeaky-girl" voice for Kaya - I imagined a more motherly, almost Southern voice. Not sugary-sweet, but realistically sweet.
And from reading the manga, I see Anna's voice actor as very innapropriate...

I for one think Megumi does a good job on Anna, making her sound cold and all, and her scream in one of the last episodes was really well done. It was all...blood curdling..? (spelling?) o_0 Can't find the word.... I honestly can't see why anyone would think Tara Jayne does Luffy's voice though...o_0 Her voice acting can be noticed easily, well, in my opinion. And I for one didn't think about Tara at all when I heard his voice. Luffy does have the same voice as Chris now that you mention it...I thought it sounded familiar... |

I think Tara Jayne is a fine voice actor for Anna, the main problem with her in Shaman King is bad directing. Just my 2cents.

Man, this is terrible, Usopp's dub voice is so bad that now it's become an adjective for suckiness. I can't ever find the name of the person who does Usopp's voice, it's like he's hiding his name or something (smart idea!) But I'm almost certain it's the same guy who does Sonic the Hedgehog. |
