I believe that the perso who does Usopp's dub VA also did a voice on pokemon during the last two episodes about "The Phantom." He doesn't sound like clown in that epsiode either. Which means what they did to Usopp was INTENTIONAL!! Oh and thanks CosmicDebris. I'm very proud of my new synonym for suckiness. "Usoppified"

It's pretty obvious that they already had their minds made up with what they wanted. WHY they somehow thought that this was a good idea, I can't understand. I almost guarrantee you that the guy who is doing his voice never heard the Japanese version. But that's common, even in some of the better dubs.

I'm going to institute the same point system for One Piece that I did for SK. Initial score: 10 points.
Using the word perish instead of killed. -1 point
Django looks like a moron in the flashback scene. -1 point. If his voice wasn't so stupid, then I would have no problem with his looks.
Pirate lingo. -5 points. I couldn't stand it.
The navy being "Knocked out cold". -4 points. They're dead okay?
This last one wasn't in the episode so I'll just make part of it anyway. "Someone big is going down" Is it Capt. Kuro? -10 points. BUNCHA MORONS! WHO ELSE WOULD IT BE?
Kuro only fixed his glasses twice this week, so I won't penalize him. Especially since Luffy busted them. +5 points.
I went through this fast. I'm not finifhed, but I have to go now. Current score: 4kids -7

that "someone big is going down" bit was so pointless. thou i'd laugh if the someone big ended up being kaya, but i hardly doubt that.
*shakes head* being kicked out cold? i belive i shaked my head at that one. it would have been easier to say "omg he destroyed them!"
one thing that irked me was when kuro kicked ussop down, ussop said, very idioditcaly "ow that hurt"

one thing that irked me was when kuro kicked ussop down, ussop said, very idioditcaly "ow that hurt" Thanks bro. I forgot about that one. -2 points for being stupid 4kids. HOWEVER, there were a few scenes that I did like. Usopp being all emotional in telling the veggies to protect Kaya at all costs. +5 for bravery. It was a pretty cool scene. I'm not grading this, but I really thought that Usopp comes off as being even more of a weakling in the dub since they have to edit out all the blood on his body. If the blood was kept like it was in the manga I read, then you would have to believe that Usopp got his ass handed to him on a silver platter. Zoro using his attack and actually using non-english words. +4. ONI! GIRI! Are those names of his swords or just the attack name? Well, my final score evens 4kids out at an even 0. I must say that I was a bit displeased with the episode, but I believe it at least folowed the manga pretty closely. At least what I read of it. I was kinda skimming at Waldens and I didn't want to get approached by a staff member telling me to buy the book or leave. ^^;

it's the attack name i belive and onigiri in japanese means riceball 0_o a sword attack called "riceball" sounds weak to me. but i did like it how zoro tossed his swords in the air and they landed in the sheeths perfectly.

I did read in the manga and the preview confirmed it, that Django will get Kaya to make out a will to Klahadore. If Sanji doesn't appear for another 5 episodes, then that canonly mean that there will be a few filler epsiodes since they are hyping up Kuro's demise.
I know you said that it might be Kaya. Well,
*spoilers It's not. I read the manga through the demise of Kuro and she and Merry live happily ever after. There is also a very emotional scene where Usopp calls for his crew of veggie pirates to be disbanded. I can't wait to see 4kids mess that up.

Zoro has no attack with "riceball" in it ;D I'll have to watch the episode to see for sure, but it might have been his "Tiger Hunting Prey" attack. Well, he got clobbered in the head with a giant stone mallet. he grabbed one of the pirates by the leg and told him he wouldn't let them attack the village, because he wants them to enjoy another day of peace like they always do, and he wants to keep on lying like he always does, so the guy started kicking him in the head(this whole part got cut I think)....)then he got kicked a few feet in the air (not including Kuro's kick). So yeah, he got the crap beat out of him. ;D BTW: I hate the kids being called "Veggie Pirates". They are originally just called "The Usopp Pirate Crew".

cosmic: were they still named onion, pepper, and carrott? Technically yes. That's what their names literally translate to (I can't remember their original names off the top of my head though.)

Original One Piece watching status for Lovely
Current episode: just finished 37
Thoughts? HOLY FRIKIN CRAP. Did 4kids NOT watch this series? It's really, REALLY violent. But all the violence has to do with the plot soooo... I can't imagine the plot changes they would have to do later on @_@ ...

Lovely: Episode 37 is probably one of my favorite episodes in the whole series, as far as I've watched (I'm up to episode 91). I can't even fathom what they're going to do to make sense out of their edits. Yes, they are, in Japanese (Tamanegi = Onion, Ninjin = Carrot, Piman = Pepper). In my opinion it kind of cheapens the joke to make everyone aware of their "vegginess", so to speak by calling them Veggie Pirates. Plus, why would Usopp call his crew vegetables when they can be "Usopp Pirate Crew"? the choice is obvious. I looked up Zoro's attacks. It actually is "Oni Giri", but that means "Demon Slash". Japanese is tricky, one word may sound the same phonetically, but have 5 entirely different meanings.

egad! 4kids didn't do their reseach and they have hidden a subliminal message within zoro's attack! well i guess that fixes that little problem. i only knew that onigiri ment riceball from fruits basket, but seperated like that means a whole new diffrent word oh well, thanks for clearing that up. ;D

Yea, in the English manga, they are "Usopp's Pirates". Lovely: Episode 37 is probably one of my favorite episodes in the whole series, as far as I've watched (I'm up to episode 91).
