"Hachi" as some of you may recall, was one of Arlong's goons. His name also means "8" which is refering to his tentecles (In context of anime, that sounds slightly wrong... *cough*).
Anyhoo, this thread is deticated to Hachi. One of the nicer ones of Arlongs crew, but still not all that nice...
Anyhoo, this is the offical ONE PIECE thread. Discuss anything you wish about the series here. From Dub Piece to the soundtracks.
To recap the last thread a bit, it seems that One Piece and Tokyo Mew Mew have both been taken off of the 4kids line up. Whether these two shows will come back or not is still a mystery.

Hatchi's cool. He has his own ministory in the manga where he meets a girl and starts his own business. ^_^
BTW, I just read OP chapter 390 today and IT KICKED MUCH ASS. One of the best chapters I've seen in a while. I can't wait to see this stuff animated. ;D

Speaking of the animation Cosmic, do you happen to know of any fansubs which have the rest of Skypiea done?
It seems like everyone's talking about Water 7, beyond, and all that jazz, and I just really have this thing about watching episodes in order >_<;;
(currently up to ep. 165 by K-F)

Well, there are no fansubs for that, just HK boolegs available for download, but they're rare. Also G8 is in the HK bootleg. I'd rather wait for K-F. (Love the quality)
But let's not deviate too much from the main topic of recent discussion.

Actually, what I've been wondering recently is if the DVDs of the show are still gonna come out, or are they looking to get canceled as well? If looked around through Amazon.com, and they don't even mention pre-orders for them. And the DVDs are due out February.... This could be another sign... |

Slight off topic (once again): 4Kids is launching their 4Kids TV UK incarnation soon. I find that to be disheartening on many levels. And I heard UK dubs are notorious for being horrible... More crap for them.
Topic? Hm, I wonder if Dub Piece's pre-emption on Saturday is truly a product of the (LIVE ACTION) Batman movie or if its being removed too. I've never been one to trust CN or cable scheduling. They are wrong at the most inoppurtune times for me.

Tomorrow's going to be blissful. I can rest peacefully knowing that no one, anywhere, will be watching any One Piece dubbed episodes (unless they have taped one, which I hope is not the case)
Either way, we still don't know what they are doing with the show, and that's a little unnerving. I mean, what if they decide to re-run it from the beginning, and when they catch up, continue! Lovely's been doing good at predicting things in the last 2 thread's titles, maybe this is the case too! No. Take it outta my brain! Take it out! Brudududududu! (SNL reference)

Yeah, what IS up with CN showing the live action batman movie 0_o ? I mean, Roger Rabit made sense, lots of animation in that. But batman ?

Your only other option is to read the manga, at least up to where Gerusama starts. Most of us who are in Water 7 also read the manga. Yeah, I was wondering the same thing, it's wierd. |

Not to go further off topic, but: CN justification for Batman is its in the spirit of animation. Also the Joker's death and OP are animated, but still. They can't show Grease and declare the same thing just because it has animation in the beginning.
TOPIC: I've got nothing. *shot*
I just started reading the manga and are there any chapters I can skip that won't hurt me too much in the long run. I am reading both the SJ and scanlations and I kinda want to cut to the chase (and get to the really good arcs).

CN's experimenting with live action and they picked movies that are "in the spirit of animation".
Roger Rabbit, Small Soldiers, Honey: We Shrunk Ourselves, The Goonies, and Batman I think are the movies they chose.
Anyway, it's kick ass to know that there's no One Piece on 4Kids TV anymore... hopefully it'll air on Toonami with a better/less censored dub...

If you're just reading the manga and haven't seen anything else in any other format, don't skip anything. You never know what's going to come back later that you thought was pointless. It doesn't seem as interesting in the beginning, but there's all important character development and setting up the plot there. If you're reading SJ, then you're probably on Arlong now, right? That's where I thought the story started to get really good. |
