Anyway, it's kick ass to know that there's no One Piece on 4Kids TV anymore... hopefully it'll air on Toonami with a better/less censored dub... We can only hope though.... And the thing is... seperate One Piece pages (including the cespool that is the forums) still exists on the 4kids.tv site... It's kinda unnerving, but then again I've heard that they rarely update the site (they still have a separate page for the 'Crap Twins' too) Like whats been said before...only time will tell... (hopefully in our favor)

One Piece isn't on Toonami this week either. Though some of the promos on Toonami are known to skip shows (Duel Master for instance), its a pretty glaring oversight if they are showing it. Honestly, I don't think Toonami is showing it either.
This could be the end. Toonami should have more "premieres" for OP, right?

Sorry to say, but I checked this weeks TV schedule for Toonami and it shows One Piece coming on at 9:30 after Naruto. Although like you were saying Shadow, its an episode that 4kids has already shown, and if you click "see all showings" next to the title, it only lists the episode for this Saturday and on the 3rd of December. So another possibility is that the shows going away after Toonami gets all the Drum Island episodes done. Of course, that's me being extremely optimistic! I guess we should be paying attention to whats coming up on the 4krapTV block.

Even more bad news: One Piece is indeed not cancelled, niether is Tokyo Mew Mew. (Read full article here.) It seems they will return to TV. However, One Piece is probably going to be edited alot. Not sure about TMM, I don't usually watch it. They said they don't know when it will return, but my speculation is it will return when all of the necissary edits are made.

Heh, I thought so. This is why it's good to wait for official information before jumping to conclusions.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts on that note.[me still clinging on desperately to hope] Still, they haven't announced when it will come back. And 4kids does have this thing about saying they're gonna do something and then not doing it, maybe.....[/hope]

Mid season shuffle. Mhmm. *sips hot sauce*
The January Shonen Jump actually has pictures from the Alabasta episodes, though (they even spoiled Ace, the bastards <_<), so I'm thinking that this must have been a last minute change (considering that One Piece's ratings have gotten REALLY bad and that they also scheduled to air episodes 59 and 60) that was made without the knowledge of several people working with OP.
And think about it. Without One Piece's Toonami airings, it wouldn't have any of the moderate popularity and likely wouldn't have the merchandise it does now. It gets the most exposure there, yet hardly any on 4Kids TV. Shifting it is the best option.

Y'know, even if the show is permanently shifited from 4kidsTV and becomes exclusive to Toonami, what exactly are the chances of 4kids showing episodes with less edits?
And how good exactly are the ratings for One Piece on Toonami?

In one preview, a few weeks earlier though, they showed the Giants Dorry and Broggy attacking the Island Eating fish, it also had a wierd song. I don't think it aired again, and I'm not sure how many people saw it. About a million to one. Even for it to be permanently shifted to Toonami. They release the episodes earlier in certain countries. (Unless they've stopped there too.) Also, the chances of Dub Piece going solo on Toonami would be almost impossible for 4kids to imagine, considering it's one of their higest rated shows on their block.

Unless some other company buys One Piece from 4kids, we can still expect the same crap dubbing... only on a different channel.

Takinawa: perfect timing on your question, this Turner press release just came out:
Throes:
Facts disagree.
And the truth is, 4Kids really doesn't care about other countries. They pampered One Piece for an American audience, but sent the same version out to other countries. Obviously when making their decisions they consider the Americans first.

Actually, I was wrong, the latest ratings on 4kids tv was down to .9. Remember that 4Kids tv is a different channel for Toonami. The ratings on Toonami are astronomically higher than 4Kids tv's ratings, and the highest ratings for One Piece come from the 9-14 age bracket, which is higher than 4Kids tv's targeted age bracket. Just goes to show that even though they may edit the show to death, it still attracts a slightly more mature audience than 4Kids expected.

From the data that Takumi posted I can interpret a few things.
First, I think it's official that 4kidsTV as a whole is the worst Saturday morning cartoon block as the numbers show. In the context of Dub Piece however, that data is irrelevant due to the fact that its success on the Toonami seems to almost be on par with Naruto. What I'm also afraid of is that this is more incentive for 4kids to keep doing what they're doing to One Piece, in addition to NOT release an uncut, bilingual DVD.
In fact, I also fear that putting an "As seen on Toonami" caption on them might actually give DVD marginal success. But this all just a speculation. I'm definently leaning toward the most likely chance that the DVDs released in February will either get delyed again or sell like total shit.
Lastly and kinda off topic, Naruto will take over us all! Wait, 2.7 is the ratings amongs kids 6-11? Hmmm, I wonder if any of the 4kids higher-ups even CONSIDER studying the Shonen anime market....
(there was probably more stuff I wanted to say, but thats all I got now...)

Cosmic: keep in mind that the ratings for the 6-11 audience are still pretty high.
