Well, all I can say is that it's more evidence that 4kids Entertainment is nothing more than dirty lying bastards, who have no concern for anything but the size of their pocket books.

o-o
Wait, how can they not have the materials to create an uncut DVD, and yet, enough materials to create a dub version DVD? I would imagine it would be easier to subtitle a couple episodes and put them on a CD, and the subtitles are the only real difference between the dub DVDs and the Original DVDs, because you're just putting episodes on a disc aside from that...Or am I horribly mistaken on that acount? o-o Sorry if I am....*bows*

The company Madman doesn't have the materials, in other words, 4kids didn't give them the raw episodes.

Well, it looks like new One Piece episodes are starting back up on Toonami only starting Feb. 11. No word on whether it's returning to 4Kids tv. I wonder if this will be they will be more lenient in editing.

I wonder if this will be they will be more lenient in editing. I highly doubt that, but if I find that to be true, then maybe I'll consider looking at the dub. Also, maybe that could lead to the possibility of going back and showing Little Garden sometime down the road. Either way, from the looks of it, One Piece is definetly gonna become a Toonami thing from here on out.

The irony of it all is that Funimation apparently almost had it, or partly had it or something, and were going to shoot straight for Cartoon Network, but 4Kids apparently convinced The Japanese licensers that they could get a bigger audience by dumbing it down and showing it on Saturday mornings. Nice going, 4Kids.

And as we can see, Toonami obtains much, much higher ratings than Saturday mornings. Somehow, I don't think that 4kids is gonna get any new anime liscenses for a looooong time.

OK, remember how in the past thread I mentioned that Shonen Jump had a little article about upcoming expansions to the card game, and one of the cards mentioned featured the giants form Little Garden?
Well, just got a new issue today. Theres a page devoted to upcoming news with the anime and more, and a good chunk of the page SPECIFICALLY TALKS ABOUT STRATIEGES TO USE FOR THE CARDS "DORRY THE BLUE OGRE" AND "BROGY THE RED OGRE." They even talk about supporting cards to use with those characters!
So people, when do think that Little Garden will be acknowledged?

At the rate that Shonen Jump is going, not for a long while.
That being said, I think it would be a good idea for Viz to do with One Piece like they did with Yu-Gi-Oh! Skip ahead on some of the story arcs and release them as mothly graphic novels. Cause people have complained about how Viz stretches out their graphic novel releases too long. Makes sense (Vol. 10 was scheduled for an April Release!)

We don't see a glimpse of them again till Water 7. Yes, but you're forgetting that Viz's manga still hasn't got to Little Garden yet. But why are they being called "ogres" rather than giants?

Yes, but you're forgetting that Viz's manga still hasn't got to Little Garden yet. But why are they being called "ogres" rather than giants? I think that its the matter of the translation style. Besides in the anime, I think that they're reffered to as "oni" which as you may know is the Japanese word for "demon" or "ogre" in this case. Plus, I'm pretty positive that Japanese mythology also plays a part in both those characters. (Theres some folklore about the "red oni" and the "blue oni" being enemies or something like that. That leads us back to translating "oni"'' as "ogre.")

Hm, I never really paid attention to what they were called in Japanese...I'll have to go back and listen. I'm not sure where the "red" and "blue" come from either, though, they never make any mention of colors in the story as far as I can remember. Not to mention Broggy and Dorry never were enemies. They were best friends, just settling an argument with a duel, eventually forgetting the reason.
