But what's the fun of ordering it offline when you can go into the store and pick it up? Especially when they'll give it to you the day they get it (i.e. January 11th), instead of the day it's released (January 12th).

'cause I don't have a "Gamestop" even remotely close to where I live and I wanted the art book ^^;. That, and stores around here don't tend to get RPG's in until a few days AFTER the release date *shrugs*.

...Gamestop charged my check card a few days BEFORE they shipped the game. My bank account ended up $1 short, and now my bank is charging me $31 >_< . Meh, well... EDIT: Yay! I talked to my bank today and they dropped the charge ^_^ .
Anyhoo, I should be getting Suikoden IV delivered to me today (actually, they delivered it yesterday, and I wasn't home so FedEx didn't leave it v_v ...).
However, I'm conflicted... I JUST bought and started on Star Ocean 3.... hmmmmm....
To be honest, I'm actually not expecting that much from Sui4, considering it's a prequel and that the original creator/writer of the series left the company. Hmmmm... I still bought it though. I can't help it that I'm an obsessive Suikoden fan ^_^;. So yeah... I'm looking fowards to actually owning the game ^^; .
EDIT AGAIN: O.k, I just had the game delivered, but... I'm gonna wait a bit to play it, I mean I JUST started on Star Ocean ^^; . However, Gamestop hasn't shipped the artbook to me yet 0_o ... *is sad*

Man, Lovely, this game is awesome.
ZRO did the voices, and Sherry Lynn's character is so cute! She sounds just like Sasami! And Brianne Siddall's character sounds just like Jr (minus the additude)!

...well, I'm still looking for Crispin Freeman for you, Lovely (I may have already found him, but not recognized the voice), but Dave Wittenberg does a whole slew of characters!
Oh, and I got my artbook! Man is it awesome...

Well, my best buy gift card has finally burnt a hole in every pocket of every pair of pants I own so I just had to get something. And since STUPID best buy was taking its STUPID time with getting Star Ocean 3 in stock, I decided to get something else.
And by posting in this thread you can guess what I got.
So now Dessa and Lovely will not be the only two posting about Suikoden 4, because Jr. is now a proud owner of a copy.
Sorry no artbook since I didn't reserve it. I better get on the ball with reserving Xenosaga 2. I want that DVD!!!

I haven't even opened the plastic from Suikoden IV yet ^^; . Darn you Star Ocean 3 XD ... Anyhoo, Dessa, does Mona Marshal do any voices in Sui4 ? (she did Roger's voice in Star Ocean 3, Kite in .hack etc... I love her little boy voices ^___^)

Okay, it's time for me to recap my first day playing this game.
Well, first I was rather suprised by the lack of attention to the graphics. I know I sound shallow, but this game looked like a game that was made a few years ago.
Now for the part I liked (or thought I would)
My training. Boy do I suck!!! Thanks for the help Snowe. I successfully sunk our ship in record time and I was flayed by the commander in the one on one duel.
I am fine in the party battles though. I love the Auto feature. I am now completeing my quest of taking the document to the next town on the next island. (I'm no good with names)
Wild Seaweed? WTF?!
Snowe makes me do everything. Even in our combo attack I do most of the work. Then when we celebrate at the end of the battle why do I look like I'm watching Snowe to see if I'm the only one looking like a moron? I notice the hero's eyes glance at Snowe after tha battle.
I really do like this game though! I swear!

Lovely- Mona Marshal does Rakgi's voice... I'm actually finding it annoying, 'cuz I don't like Rakgi much, and it sounds EXACTLY like Jr... Jr's voice coming out of some idiotic peasant boy isn't pleasant...
Do you realize that "peasant" and "pleasant" only have one letter difference? ((chaos: the things she notices at the strangest times...))
Jr.- Heh... I forgot you're a Suikoden newbie... Anyway... Suikoden's always been about the story, not the graphics. And the graphics ARE a huge step up from III, as well as bearing in mind that this game was completed early last year, and that's the coding and everything, not the character models.
Heh... duels aren't too hard once you get the hang of them. It's pretty much a paper-rock-sissors thing... Attack will beat Guard (although it will have reduced damage). Special/Deathblow will beat Attack. Guard will beat Special/Deathblow (and do a lot of damage). You just have to pay attention to what they say, and figure out what they're gonna do (like, if they encourage you to attack them, then they're gonna defend). It gets easier once you get used to it.
Middleport is where you're going... don't worry, there's actually not as many places to go as in 1 and 2 (3 didn't have many areas).
In every game, there have been enemies called Holly Boys (in 3, they were called something else, but I don't remember what)... the "Wild Seaweed" (and also a land enemy on one of the islands) are basically groups of Holly Boys... it's a traditional thing...
Snowe... I hate Snowe... however, when looking at the way he treats the Hero, bear in mind that you ARE his servant...
heheheh... I just got one of my favorite characters in the game... oh how I've missed using him... not since the very beginning of 1...

Congrats on 300 posts!! Welcome to Senior Shamanhood Dessa!!
(spoilers)**Well, I did fare much better in the battle against Capt. Brandeu. After Snowe ran off like the wuss he is (wow for a 'seriously injured' arm, you sure can row that boat very well. Kudos to Com. Glen for the punch in the face) I totally laid into Brandeu's ships and finished them off without getting hit.
The duel however didn't go so well. I've played games that feature this style of battle Dessa. Beyond the Beyond had this same style I believe. I totally blew it with Brandeu and he killed me in one hit. I tried to use a full powered special on him and he guarded. Man that sucks!! ^^; Oh, well it seems I was supposed to lose anyway.
The game is getting very addicting though. I beat the Damp Hairball. One powerup on everyone's weapons was enough.

*siiiiigh*
Maybe I should put Star Ocean aside for now and get crackin' on Sui4 huh?

Lovely- Come on, you know you wanna play it... Star Ocean can wait... and really, the whole "plot twist" in Star Ocean made me kinda not want to continue it... but I didn't have any other games to play, so...
Whoohoo!!! 300 posts!!! Only HOW MANY to catch up to you, Jr.?
Heheheheh... my sentiments exactly one Snowe... And just wait, he gets worse... I whupped "him", though, I thought that it was almost as easy as when I whupped "G." Hmm... I guess I'm just really used to what people say... hmmm... I should go whup Sasarai again... Wait, no, I DON'T HAVE MY MEMORY CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!! **sniffsniff**
Hairballs... So far, I've fought Damp Hairballs, Demon Hairballs, and one Golden Hairball (optional "boss"). I need to go try and beat the Angel Hairballs again... it was killing me with level 5 spells ('nother optional "boss").
Lovely- Apparently, even though Killer Rabbits can cross mountain ranges to get from Toran to the Grasslands, they can't swim...

Played some more last night and if my wife wasn't in the room I would have just shouted: SNOWE YOU SON OF A B****!!! After the confrontation with Glen during the storm. Stupid Vingerhut and his mustache. spoiler** I've been EXILED!!! SNOWE.....oh Snowe we will meet again and I'll injure more than your arm too!! Snowe is commander? HA! I would have exiled myself after hearing that!!! XD I pity poor Katarina. Why didn't she get the promotion? Snowe is just such a panty waist!! I guess Glen didn't punch him in the face enough huh? XD I just got to hear Chiepoo's voice last night. @_@ I was not expecting it to sound like that in the least!! XD And I spotted Crispin's voice Dessa!!! In the scene after your confrontation with Glen and before the "unpleasentness" when you are running down that corrider of wierdness (Call it what you want. It was wierd). At the end when you defeat the shadow and you see a man saying somthing about Rakgi or whatever his name was. Sorry I can't remember most of these peoples names yet. Give me some time. Anyway, that man sounded an awful lot like Crispin to me. A very NOT insane Albedo. My wife: What kind of name is Crispin? It's wierd. Me: (She just doesn't get it!!) XD

O.k, O.k, I'm playing it now,
I'm only two hours in but.... so far... I'm kind of bored >_> . I hope it picks up soon. The boat is a pain to control and the encounter rate is SO FRIKIN HIGH.
Well, we'll see, we'll see.
