My wife was extremely bored too whenI first started playing it. I was too T_T.

I kept telling myself, Dessa and Lovely wouldn't steer me wrong would they?

After your first mission which I chose to deliver the document, which you have more than 3 battles with wild seas creatures anyway, you return home and things pick up fast.

That's when you really want to give Snowe a good beat down.

I chose the wrong characters for my party too. I wanted Keneth and Paula. I fought with Jewel and Tal and Snowe asked me if I was ready to decide on my party not knowing that my current party was going to be my choice. I thought that I was going to go to a screen where I was going to construct my party. I then thought, oh well, I'm sure I will get to modify it later. Now that it's later, I realize how wrong I was.

Oh yeah, Lovely and Dessa, isn't Snowe a terrible tutorial giver?

Snowe: You fight ??? And I'll fight ????

Me: ??????!!!! What are you saying?!>_<

Snowe is fun to dislike ^_^ .

Anyhoo, my main complaint is that in past Suikodens everyone had well developed characters. So far, Snowe seems to be the only one with personality 0_o (well... not a ... admirable personality, but at least he has a personality!)

Well, I'm hoping things change. Chiepo is super cute at least ^_^ .

Currently I'm on the "deserted Island". and... I've done something weird ^^; .

On the island they give you the opertunity to make some "choices". Basically, whether to try to escape the island or stay there. You are supposed to say "escape", but I kept on screwing around making the main character say things such as "I want to live here!"
After a while of that, Chiepo says "Wel... o.k" and the game has a big "THE END" sign show up.
Ooooh, but it doesn't end there. Now ALL the characters "profiles" (those pictures that pop up when the have lines) look completely different! They are now REALLY goofy black and white line drawings ^_^;;; . It makes me laugh but... I wonder if it's going to stay that way 0_o ? ***
Unless... does that happen if you answer correctly as well?


Anyhoo, out of curiosity, what did you guys name the main character?
I named him "Yon" , which is a pun ;D . "Yon" means "four" in Japanese ^o^ .

For the curious (resurie xD ) Here are the names for my characters in previous Suikodens.
Sui 1- Tenchi
Sui2- Hiiro
I named the castle "Hope"
Sui3 (well... not the hero persay)- Kahi . Another pun. "Ka" and "Hi" are both readings for the kanji "fire." ^_^

Man..I want to try Suikoden...;_; But I just wasted all my money on my SK manga...so even if I had a chance at buying it...well...I'm broke now... XD And once I get money again, I'm planning on buying these pretty expensive markers you color manga with. X3

It's pronounced "snow" . The e on the end is just to make it look fancy .

A couple of names in the Suikoden world have somewhat odd or unexpected pronounciations. For example, "Luc" is pronounced "Luke" .

Except for Jacques... Jacques is only in III.

Jr- I picked Paula and Tal. Paula is really nice, since I've always liked wind magic ((chaos: no, she's always liked one particular wind user)). But yeah, that surprised me, too... I was like "okay, I raised some levels, can I raise the others' levels now too?

Lovely- I hate Snowe with a passion... Oh, so you found the "bad" ending and the Easter Egg! Don't worry, you can't save after that, so you'll have to go back and pick the "right" choices... they won't let you continue ((chaos: You just wanted to see *** with a silly picture, didn't you?))


As for my character/army/castle names...

Suiko 1 (1st time)- Dessa/Ojamajo/Ojamajo
Suiko 1 (2nd time)- Bakazaru... heheheh... I forgot the name of my army and castle...
Suiko 2- Dessa/Ojamajo/Ojamajo
Suiko 3 (1st time)- Dessa/Ojamajo/Ojamajo
Suiko 3 (2nd time)- Hakkai/Durandal/do you even name your army in 3?
Suiko 4- Dessa/chaos/Ojamajo

And it is so funny when people ask if they can join "the chaos"!!

Heh, a freind at another message board once told me that he gave his castle and army weird names. Such as "ButSex" .

Well, I usually don't use different names and since I haven't played other Suiko's I can't refer to them but most of the time I use the name "Draygon" which has no signifigance. I just made it up until I realized that it's the name of a boss in Super Metroid.

but in a lot of RPG's I usually go with my real name which is "Jeremy". That's who I am in Suiko 4.

I actually read a bit about how the game really does end on the island but I didn't try it.

I'm currently adrift at sea after the deserted island incident.

I really despise Jewel now. Dessa, she said she wondered how Snowe was doing and Tal mentioned that we all know that she likes him and we'll go back to Razril someday and whatever. I was too busy fuming about the Jewel likes Snowe comment.

WHAT'S TO LIKE?! The prick gets me exiled and you wonder how he's doing? We're on a deserted island and he's commander of the Gaien Knights!!! I should have thrown her off the ship, but she's the only one with a healing spell. I do like Tal's defense rune and I am really starting to like the Rune of Judgement. 30Hp is a small price to pay to dish out some serious hurt!!!

Now we have no oars and Chiepoo's voice......man I just cannot get used to it!!

And hey, I like Jewel ^_^ . It's not her fault she guy she likes is a goofball. And besides, at least that little comment gave her a TOUCH of personality.
*Lovely is still annoyed that the characters in Sui4 don't have much personality when compared to the other games v_v .*

And WHY, WHY does the hero only have ONE facial expresion. It's kind of creepy man.

I hope to see Basil again. I played his very Beyblade-ish like top game in Razril before the "unpleasantness" and it was really fun.

Sorry, the more I like a game, the more emotional I get. My wife won't let me play unless she's home since she is now addicted to watching me play the game. ? (It happens. It did with .hack as well. XD )

So now I have to wait until she gets home from work to play more.

I'm in Obel and I just got my new home. How do I utilize support characters? I plan on leveling up and tempering my weapons before moving on to the ruins.

Oh yeah, that lottery is rigged. RIGGED I TELL YOU!!! XD

I got second place a few times actually. Got two Sunbeam orbs. Whew. Saves me a couple thousand potch.......hmmm potch. What is potch anyway?

The lottery is sweet heaven in comparison to the evil that is Noah's card game. EVIL I tell you! EVIL!!!

I'm about at the same place Jr. is in the game by the way . I keep getting frusterated by Noah and then I turn the PS2 off. (So WHY do I continue to play with her? I honestly don't know ^^; .)

Oh, and I've managed to get first place (you win a good chunck of potch), 4th place and 5th place in the lottery. I can't remember what the prizes for those last two places were... not that I think of it. I remember 4th places prize not being too bad.

"Potch" is the monetary (money) system of the Suikoden world. Think of it as how the U.S has dollars and Japan uses yen. That sort of thing.

Last place in the lottery is medicine, third place is a Jizo Clock I believe. I'm not sure about 4th place.

I haven't confronted Noah yet, but I'm dreading it now.

If I play when my wife isn't home I'll have to suffer "The Look" again. I think I'll wait. ^^; XD

On a side note, on the deserted island, was I the only one near falling asleep when you had to trraverse the cave everyday to meet the mermaid. It was getting so boring!!!!

And her voice was okay, but the way she said things was kinda funny.

"I know! You can kill my master and the cat can come back and I'll be happy. Okay?"

That was a very perky "okay" if I remember correctly.

And oh, yeah, Lovely..... I thought Jewel would be cool but why does everyone's personality development have to be around the jerk that is Snowe. I don't think I have ever played a game where I detest someone as much as Snowe. And I have played Xenosaga remember? Albedo will be my friend before I would ever trust Snowe again!!!

Noah is close to where you are. She is a cute kid (wearing cat ears!) hanging out in the "kings" "palace" (the place where you met the "king" of that island.)
I think you can find her without your wife around. All she is around for is to play a minigame.

Actually, Rakgi is voiced by Brianne Siddall, not Mona Marshal (I'm such a nerd that I can hear the difference XD !.)
Oh, and uh... I like Rakgi... he's cute ^^; .

Oh, by the way, that voice used for the character? That's Brianne Siddall's REAL voice, she really sounds like that! I heard her in an interview once.

Brianne Siddall: Telemarketers call me and say "Hello little boy, can you put your mom on the phone?"

She then went on to say that she often likes to trick telemarketers and pretend she really IS a little boy XD .

The part where you have to walk down the freaky hallway of swirls and talk to the balls of light and defeat the shadow at the end?

Oh and uh... I wasn't paying that much attention to the purple swirly hallway for two reasons....
1- at first I thought the hallway was kind of ...funny... and I amused myself by making the hero run into the sides of the wall a lot ^^; .
2- The story in that part was kind of cool when I actually decided to get on with it. But the memories of the fun I had with reason number 1 just would not go away ...
